Nectar Sleep offers a memory foam mattress with better quality foam materials relative to its rivals at a much lower price. Don’t be tricked into thinking the Nectar mattress is not of the same quality as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Are Nectar Mattresses Good
Using gel memory foam built into the base of the cover and also a layer of memory foam beneath, the Nectar contours well, but doesn’t have the exact same hug frequently associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam and the absence of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps considerably cooler than many memory foam models.
A support core consisting of high-density polyfoam is built to withstand the test of time. Given its makeup, we project the Nectar to last at least 7-8 years, which makes it a durable option.
The Nectar is hard to beat at this price, so if you’re looking for a reasonable bed built with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Are Nectar Mattresses Good
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has employed a clever strategy of cheeky marketing and focused product development to evolve into one of the biggest players in the online bed-in-a-box marketplace. Are Nectar Mattresses Good
Considering its prevalence, the brand is frequently compared to Casper and Purple, two giants in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress market. Though all three mattresses have considerably different feels (which I’ll dissect in full later on in this review), they do gain from a similar amount of brand recognition and notoriety on sites likes ours and Reddit.
It’s worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is less expensive than either the Casper or even the Purple, each of which come in at roughly $1,000.

Construction Are Nectar Mattresses Good
Let us begin with the Nectar mattress review. As I mentioned above, this is an all-foam mattress composed of three different layers that pile as much as an 11″ profile. The most notable component of the Nectar’s construction is the humungous 4″ of memory foam on top, which leads to a significant amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how this comes together, let us dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is made up of of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco friendly material known for its softness and breathability. Additionally, there’s an inch of gel memory foam built into the cover, which offers the sleeper with some instant comfort. The combo of the Tencel fibers and gel infusion make for an ultra-cool coating that’ll help regulate temperatures during the night.
Comfort Layer – Directly under the cover, you will find 3″ of memory foam. This material has an incredibly slow reaction to stress, allowing the sleeper to really sink in for some gratifying pressure relief. As the foam contours to the curves of your body, you’re likely to feel like you are sleeping more”in” the mattress than”on top” of it, which may be a nice feel for side sleepers in need of cushiony support in the shoulders and hips.
Transition Layer – Next you are going to find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a slightly quicker response to pressure compared to the foams over it. This section is supposed to ease the sleeper into the firmer base under, helping to extend the shaping of the comfort layer even deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we have got 6 inches of high-density poly foam. This section gives the bed its stability and contour, offering a firm foundation upon which the softer foams can respond.
After taking a peek at the construction of the Nectar, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying some light hand pressure to the mattress and discovered I was instantly interacting with the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the gentle foams contouring round my palms. Pushing in further, I experienced even deeper sinkage into the bed.
Since folks of different body types and sizes are going to feel firmness differently, I made a decision to bring in three other testers to check out the Nectar Sleep mattress. We all took turns lying on the bed, and gave it a personal rating, and then compiled them on the chart below.
While texture is always going to be a personal thing, our responses should provide you with a good idea of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
Although there was a little discrepancy with our responses, we did finish on a mean firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs perfectly with the industry standard for moderate firmness.
I personally gave the Nectar a 6 as I found its thick memory foam layers produced a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Irrespective of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the material contouring to the curves of my body, resulting in some pretty intense sinkage. While this translated to a softer rating for me, a few sleepers may find memory foam to provide a firmer feel as their bodies slowly acclimate to its morphing shape.
Another important component of a new mattress’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are most likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these pressure points may arise, I placed a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some fantastic pressure relief as the soft memory foam top layers shaped to my entire body and filled in the space in my thoracic region. Even though you may find memory foam to have an initially firm texture, once you give your body a couple of minutes to sink through it, you’ll find that it’s actually rather giving. A trade off for this satisfying pressure relief is that I did find it a bit difficult to move around and change positions. Are Nectar Mattresses Good
Edge Support – Testing the edge support of this mattress, I did detect some compression through the soft foam top layers. However, the high-density poly foam foundation did a good job of supporting my weight in this position, which allowed me to feel secure on the side of the bed.
Side – Turning onto my side, I continued to feel fantastic pressure relief from this bed. Side sleepers have a tendency to prefer softer mattresses which shape snuggly into the shoulders and buttocks, and the Nectar more than delivers on that front.
Stomach – Regrettably, this comfort didn’t totally carry over when I rolled onto my stomach. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink from alignment with my shoulders, which made for some tension along my spine. In general, stomach sleepers usually opt for firmer mattresses, so I was not overly surprised by this outcome.
Next, let’s take a look at motion transfer. This evaluation will demonstrate the quantity of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress to the other, which could be particularly important for those of you who share their bed with a partner.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is meant to symbolize a different movement you are most likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are amazing motion transfer outcomes! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to soften movement across the structure, making sure you will not be overly bothered by your bed partner’s tossing and turning in the evening.
When buying a new bed, most people wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the bed or lying”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body components and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Are Nectar Mattresses Good
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly believed these results would be a bit more extreme! As I rolled around the Nectar, I was surprised by how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it is kind of surprising to find that the real measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the market. That being said, you are still more likely to feel like you’re sleeping “in” the Nectar as opposed to “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we have broken down the particular, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let us expand the scope and have a look at some of its biggest rivals in the game. While every mattress has unique characteristics which make it a distinctive product in the space, it may be useful to contextualize these differences against other beds. Plus, who does not love a tiny cross-referencing prior to making a big purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Nectar and Purple is like comparing apples and oranges — both are lovely in their own right, but inherently distinct products.
– Among the most noticeable differences comes in the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a really bouncy material that provides pressure relief without too much body contouring.
– This hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, leading to a much cooler sleeping experience than the Nectar.
– And finally, wherein the Nectar has virtually no bounce, the Purple has an enormous quantity of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
While both the Casper and Nectar are built entirely of foam, they actually have unbelievably divergent feels, with the latter featuring much more sinkage than the former.
– Also, one of the standout attributes of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which brings targeted relief to the shoulders and hips.
– This means the Casper has a more balanced texture than the Nectar, endearing it to a larger range of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike most other memory foam mattresses that generally sleep a little hot, the Nectar provides a high level of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired with the infused cover keeps it cool, while giving maximum comfort.
Because the Nectar is a high density foam, some could find it a little warmer than a hybrid, coil, or latex foam mattress.
In general, our study did show that the Nectar is most definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses in the marketplace today.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh out of the box, the mattress will have a fairly powerful odor for the first two days. But after, the odor starts to fade, and in just a week is totally gone.
So, if the odor is something that actually bothers you, then I suggest maybe not sleeping on it for the first two days. Are Nectar Mattresses Good
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar mattress could be sat right on a box spring. Or if you prefer, a platform or any other flat supportive surface. It can also be utilized with any adjustable bed frame, which can fit an 11 inch mattress.
You can even put the Nectar directly on the ground if that’s what you’d like to do. Just make sure that there isn’t any water or moisture around.
What Is The Best Way To Care For The Nectar?
The Nectar requires no flipping. However, it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps one or two times per year to stop it from excessive sagging or from wearing down.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water with mild dish soap, to clean any dirt or stains. Always clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.

Is the Nectar Mattress Right For You?
Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the mattress, I am going to give you a few recommendations and some of the most common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I’d recommend the Nectar for everyone who wants that classic memory foam feel, deep body shaping and all.
– More specifically, I would say this mattress might be a real winner for side sleepers, who will benefit from its cushiony pressure relief at the shoulders and buttocks.
– Considering its excellent motion transfer and edge support results, I’d also say the Nectar could be a solid choice for couples.
– While a lot of people will dig the thick layers of memory foam in this mattress, I’d say that stomach sleepers may find that it pushes their buttocks out of alignment with their shoulders.
– It also has almost no rebound, which might be a dealbreaker for those sleepers looking for buoyant support.
