The DreamCloud hybrid mattress fulfills all of our requirements for what a excellent mattress should have. With eight exceptional layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all of the right components in its build. Dreamcloud Hybrid Review
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives amazing airflow, to the gel memory foam in the top comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, which means this mattress has better quality relaxation materials than most other mattresses.
Even though it makes use of numerous polyurethane foam layers, there is not any significant shaping or hug to the mattress. If you are wanting to sink into a mattress, move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core makes sure that you are aligned all night long, especially so for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Dreamcloud Hybrid Review
The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The 8-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which operate together to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief. Dreamcloud Hybrid Review
Given all of the unique materials at play here, I am stoked to look at these layers to see how well they mesh with one another.
Cover – The cover is made up of a polyester and cashmere blend for a soft texture up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Beneath the cover, you’ll notice three layers of foam. While these layers are soft to the touch and give some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the mattress. The middle of these three layers is particularly essential for the temperature regulation of the mattress as it is made up of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is good at dissipating heat, so the addition of these tiny ventilations encourages even more cooling. Dreamcloud Hybrid Review
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent bounce and help to spread motion throughout the structure. The coils also aid in regulating temperature as the distances between them permit continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the major function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
After discussing the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s talk about the firmness and feel. I began by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and instantaneously felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hands flowed into the material and I could feel some instant comfort. Pushing in farther, I started to interact with all the pocketed coils below and felt a nice lift from these springs.
Now I’d like to note that individuals of distinct body shapes and types will feel firmness differently. Instead of giving only my opinion on the overall firmness level of the mattress, I asked three other individuals to present their opinion too. This will give you a better sense of the firmness range you can find from the DreamCloud.
The individuals were pretty much in agreement about the firmness of the mattress, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compare this to the market norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it’s apparent that the DreamCloud is quite firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the individuals that it is definitely a solid mattress. At the same time you will feel some small sinking from the polyurethane top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you out of the mattress and make you feel like you are sleeping on top of the mattress, as opposed to in it.
As opposed to simply discussing the feel of the mattress to you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on the mattress. To do so, I placed a pressure map above the mattress and lied on my side, back, and stomach. You can see the results on the graph below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, therefore I did not feel like I was sinking into it at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar area while the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the diagram above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and hips. But, I still felt supported, and the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I believed the DreamCloud did an awesome job of lifting my hips upward and from the mattress, which I think is key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you plan on sharing your bed with a partner, you’ll want to find out what it’ll feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at nighttime. The next experiment is intended to demonstrate the amount of motion that is felt from one side of the mattress from the other.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance. Dreamcloud Hybrid Review
The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting his/her position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be quite great at isolating motion, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your mattress partner’s midnight shimmies, making the DreamCloud a great solution for couples.
When getting a new mattress, the majority of men and women would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed 4 balls of varying densities and sizes (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the DreamCloud and quantified how much they compacted the top of the mattress.
The differences in size, density, and weight are meant to simulate varying body parts and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you are going to encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you will find the wrapped coils and feel great support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
Dreamcloud Hybrid Review
If you’re going to share your bed with someone and will need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, it’s likely to be important for you to consider the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I’m particularly interested to determine if the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which can’t live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring versions.
Lying on my back, I felt just as supported at the edge of the mattress as I did in the center. Moving closer to the edge, I felt a bit of compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Changing to my side, I once again experienced compression in the foam layers, however, it didn’t carry over into the coil system beneath. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my body.
In the last position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on top of the bed in the morning when you’re tying your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
