The DreamCloud hybrid mattress fulfills all of our standards for what a quality mattress should provide. With 8 exceptional layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all of the proper components in its build. Dreamcloud King
Starting from the tufted cashmere cover that gives good airflow, to the gel memory foam on the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Underneath that are a combination of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress includes higher quality comfort materials than most other mattresses.
Despite the fact that it utilizes multiple polyurethane foam layers, there is not any hug or significant contouring to the mattress. If you’re wanting to sink into a mattress, then the DreamCloud is probably not for you.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, especially so for for those of you who lay on your back.

Construction Dreamcloud King
The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a humungous 15 inches. The 8-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief. Dreamcloud King
Because of all the unique materials at play here, I’m excited to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another.
Cover – The cover is made up of a polyester and cashmere mix for a soft texture up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Beneath the cover, you will discover three layers of foam. While these segments are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The core of the three layers is particularly essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is made up of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is good at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of those small ventilations promotes more cooling. Dreamcloud King
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support segment of this mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress good rebound and help spread motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the distances between them permit continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies in the base of the mattress, with the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the whole mattress.
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by putting mild hand pressure to the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hands flowed into the material and I could sense some immediate pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with all the pocketed coils below and felt a nice lift from the springs.
At this point I’d like to let you know that individuals of different body shapes and types will feel firmness differently. Instead of giving only my opinion on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I asked three other individuals to give their view as well. This will give you a better sense of the firmness level you can expect from the DreamCloud.
The individuals were in agreement about the firmness of the DreamCloud, giving it a mean rating of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it’s apparent that this mattress is pretty firm.
Personally, I gave the DreamCloud a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it’s definitely a solid mattress. At the same time you will feel some slight sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you out of the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress, as opposed to in it.
Rather than simply describing the feel of the DreamCloud for you, I decided to offer a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on the mattress. To do so, I placed a pressure map above the mattress and lied on my side, back, and stomach. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was evenly dispersed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into it at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped lift me out of the mattress and keep my back aligned.
Side – As you can see in the image above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. But, I still felt supported, and the top foam layers alleviated any discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my belly, I believed the mattress did an awesome job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress, which I think can be key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a partner, you will probably want to know what it’ll feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night. The next experiment is intended to show you the amount of motion that is felt from one side of the mattress from the other.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance. Dreamcloud King
The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be pretty great at isolating motion, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, making this an awesome solution for couples.
When buying a new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put 4 balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and took a look at how much they compressed the surface of the mattress.
The differences in size, weight, and density are supposed to mimic varying body parts and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you are likely to encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
If you’re going to share your bed with someone and need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, then it’s likely to be crucial for you to think about the level of edge support it’ll give you.
I am very interested to find if the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which cannot fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring mattresses.
Laying on my back, I felt just as supported in the edge of the bed as I did at the middle. Going closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Changing to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, however, it did not carry over into the coil system beneath. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a good job of supporting my body.
In the last position, I wished to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on top of the mattress in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. Most foam mattresses undergo a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly good.
