Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills all of our requirements for what a quality mattress should have. With 8 superb layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all of the right components in its build. Dreamcloud Off Gassing
Starting from the tufted cashmere cover that gives great cooling, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to give a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a combination of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress has higher quality comfort materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it utilizes numerous memory foam layers, there isn’t any hug or significant contouring to the mattress. If you want to sink into a mattress, the DreamCloud is probably not for you.
A pocketed coil support core makes sure that you are aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Dreamcloud Off Gassing
The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfortable pressure relief. Dreamcloud Off Gassing
Because of all the unique materials at play here, I’m excited to look at these layers to understand how well they interact with one another.
Cover – The cover is composed of a polyester and cashmere mix for a soft texture up top. It’s also built with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant comfort.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you will discover 3 layers of foam. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The center of the three layers is particularly crucial for the temperature regulation of the mattress as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is good at releasing heat, so the addition of these tiny ventilations promotes more cooling. Dreamcloud Off Gassing
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of foam transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress good bounce and help spread motion throughout the mattress. The coils also aid in regulating temperature as the distances between them permit steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies in the bottom of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound foundation for the whole mattress.
After discussing the build of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying mild hand pressure to the mattress and instantaneously felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and uppermost layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could sense some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to feel all the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from the springs.
Now I want to note that people of distinct body shapes and types will feel firmness differently. Instead of giving only my opinion on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I invited three other people to give their sentiment as well. This should give you a much better idea of the firmness range you should expect from the DreamCloud.
The testers were pretty much in agreement about the firmness of the DreamCloud, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compared to the market norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it’s apparent that the DreamCloud is pretty firm.
I personally gave the DreamCloud a 7.5 and concur with the other individuals that it is definitely a good mattress. At the same time you will feel some slight sinking from the polyurethane top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the core will lift you from the bed and make you feel as though you are sleeping on top of this mattress, instead of in it.
As opposed to simply explaining the feel of the DreamCloud to you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on the mattress. To do this, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my side, back, and tummy. You can see the results on the graph below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was evenly distributed across the mattress, so I did not feel as though I was sinking into it at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the diagram above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and hips. However, I felt supported, and the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I thought the mattress did a great job of lifting my hips upward and out of the mattress, which is crucial for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to transition across these positions with relative ease.
If you plan on sharing your bed with a partner, you’ll probably want to know what it will feel like if the other person crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at nighttime. This next experiment is meant to show you the intensity of movement that’s detectable from one side of the mattress from the other.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance. Dreamcloud Off Gassing
The DreamCloud exhibits a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting his/her position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I would still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This means you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this an awesome option for couples.
While getting a new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To present this sinkage, I put four balls of varying densities and sizes (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface of the mattress.
The variations in size, density, and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will reach the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.

If you will be sharing your bed with a partner and will need to use the entire surface area of the mattress, then it’s going to be important for you to think about the level of edge support it’ll give you.
I’m particularly interested to find whether the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses that can’t fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring mattresses.
Laying on my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the mattress as I did in the center. Going closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Rolling over to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, however, it didn’t carry over into the coil system under. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In the last position, I wished to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on top of the bed in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. Most foam mattresses experience a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up well.
