Nectar Sleep offers a memory foam mattress with better quality foam materials relative to its rivals at a much lower price. Do not be fooled into believing the Nectar mattress isn’t of the same quality as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Enso Memory Foam Mattress Reviews
Having gel memory foam built into the bottom of the cover and a layer of memory foam beneath, the Nectar contours well, but does not have the exact same hug often associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam along with the absence of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps considerably cooler than most memory foam models.
A support core composed of high-density polyfoam is built to withstand the test of time. Given its construct, we expect the Nectar to survive at least 7-8 years, making it a durable option.
The Nectar is difficult to beat at this price, so if you’re searching for a reasonable bed built with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Enso Memory Foam Mattress Reviews
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has employed a smart strategy of cheeky marketing and concentrated product development to evolve into one of the greatest competitors in the online bed-in-a-box marketplace. Enso Memory Foam Mattress Reviews
Considering its prevalence, the brand is often compared to Casper and Purple, two giants in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress market. Though all three mattresses have considerably distinct feels (which I’ll dissect in full later in this review), they do benefit from a similar amount of brand recognition and notoriety on sites likes ours and Reddit.
It is worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is less expensive than either the Casper or even the Purple, each of which come in at about $1,000.

Construction Enso Memory Foam Mattress Reviews
Let us get started with the Nectar bed review. As I mentioned above, this is an all-foam mattress made up of three distinct layers which stack as much as an 11″ profile. The most notable aspect of the Nectar’s construction is its humungous 4″ of memory foam on top, which results in a significant amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how this comes together, let us dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is comprised of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco-friendly substance famous for its softness and breathability. Furthermore, there’s an inch of gel memory foam built into the cover, which offers the sleeper with some immediate relaxation. The combination of the gel infusion and Tencel fibers make for an ultra-cool layer which will help regulate temperatures during the evening.
Comfort Layer – Right below the cover, you’ll encounter 3″ of memory foam. This material has a remarkably slow reaction to pressure, letting the sleeper to really sink in for some satisfying pressure relief. As the foam contours to the curves of your body, you are likely to feel like you are sleeping more”in” the mattress compared to”on top” of it, which could be a nice feel for side sleepers needing cushiony support at the shoulders and hips.
Transition Layer – Up next you are going to find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a slightly quicker response to pressure than the foams above it. This section is meant to alleviate the sleeper into the firmer foundation below, helping to extend the contouring of the comfort layer deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we have got 6 inches of high-density poly foam. This section gives the mattress its stability and shape, offering a firm foundation upon which the softer foams can react.
After taking a look at the construction of the Nectar, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting some light hand pressure to the mattress and found I was immediately interacting with all the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the Nectar, with the gentle foams contouring around my fingers. Pushing in further, I experienced deeper sinkage into the bed.
Since folks of different body types and sizes will feel firmness differently, I decided to bring in three other testers to check out the Nectar Sleep mattress. All of us took a turn lying on the mattress, and gave it a personal evaluation, and then compiled them on the chart below.
While feel is always going to be a personal thing, our responses should give you with a good idea of the firmness range you may expect from the mattress.
Although there was a little discrepancy with our answers, we did end on a mean firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs perfectly with the market standard for moderate firmness.
I personally gave the Nectar a 6 as I found its thick memory foam layers gave a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Regardless of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the material contouring to the curves of my body, resulting in some pretty intense sinkage. While this translated to a softer rating for me, a few sleepers could find memory foam to produce a firmer sense as their bodies gradually acclimate to its morphing shape.
Another important part of a new mattress’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these pressure points may crop up, I put a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some great pressure relief as the gentle memory foam top layers contoured to my entire body and filled in the space at my lumbar region. Even though you may find memory foam to possess an initially firm feel, once you give your body a couple of minutes to sink through it, you will find that it’s actually quite giving. A trade off for this satisfying pressure relief is that I did find it somewhat difficult to move around and change positions. Enso Memory Foam Mattress Reviews
Edge Support – Testing the edge support of this mattress, I did detect some compression in the soft foam top layers. However, the high-density poly foam foundation did a fantastic job of supporting my weight in this position, which enabled me to feel safe on the side of the Nectar.
Side – Turning on my side, I continued to feel fantastic pressure relief from this mattress. Side sleepers have a tendency to favor softer mattresses which contour snuggly to the shoulders and hips, and the Nectar more than delivers on this front.
Stomach – Unfortunately, this comfort did not totally carry over when I rolled onto my stomach. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders, which made for a little tension along my spine. In general, stomach sleepers usually opt for firmer mattresses, so I wasn’t overly surprised by this outcome.
Up next, let’s take a look at motion transfer. This evaluation will demonstrate the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the bed to the other, which could be particularly critical for those who share their bed with a partner.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is intended to signify a different movement you’re likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are incredible motion transfer outcomes! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to soften movement throughout the structure, making sure you will not be overly bothered by your bed partner’s tossing and turning in the evening.
When buying a new bed, most men and women want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the bed or lying”on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the bed and measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to mimic different body parts and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Enso Memory Foam Mattress Reviews
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly believed these results would be a bit more intense! As I moved around the Nectar, I was surprised by how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it is kind of surprising to see that the actual measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the marketplace. That being said, you are still more likely to feel like you’re sleeping “in” the Nectar instead of “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we’ve broken down the specific, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let’s widen the scope and take a peek at some of its main competitors in the game. While each bed has unique characteristics that make it a different product in the space, it can be useful to contextualize these distinctions against other beds. Plus, who does not love a little cross-referencing prior to making a big purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Purple and Nectar is like comparing apples and oranges — both are great in their own right, but fundamentally distinct products.
– Among the most noticeable differences comes in the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a really bouncy material that provides pressure relief without an excessive amount of body contouring.
– The hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, leading to a far cooler sleeping experience compared to Nectar.
– And finally, wherein the Nectar has virtually no bounce, the Purple has an enormous quantity of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
Although the Casper and Nectar are built completely of foam, they actually have incredibly divergent feels, with the latter featuring considerably more sinkage compared to the former.
– Also, one of the standout attributes of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which provides targeted relief to the hips and shoulders.
– This means the Casper has a more balanced feel than the Nectar, endearing it to a larger range of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike the majority of other memory foam mattresses that generally sleep a bit hot, the Nectar provides a high amount of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired together with the infused cover keeps it cool, while providing maximum comfort.
Because the Nectar is a high density foam, some could find it somewhat warmer than a hybrid, coil, or latex foam mattress.
In general, our research did show that the Nectar is definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses on the market today.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh from the box, the mattress will have a fairly powerful odor for the first two days. But after, the odor starts to fade, and in just a week is totally gone.
So, if the smell is something that actually bothers you, I suggest maybe not sleeping on it the first couple days.Enso Memory Foam Mattress Reviews
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar mattress can be sat directly on a box spring. Or if you prefer, a platform or any other flat supportive surface. In addition, it can be utilized with any adjustable bed frame, which can fit an 11 inch mattress.
You can also use the Nectar right on the floor if that is what you’d like to do. Just make sure that there is not any water or moisture around.
What Is The Best Way To Take Care Of Your Nectar?
The Nectar needs no flipping. However, it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps one or two times a year to prevent it from excessive sagging or from wearing down.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water with mild dish detergent, to clean any dirt or stains. Always wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.

Is the Nectar Mattress Right For You?
Since we’ve already taken a closer look at the mattress, I want to give you a few recommendations and some of the very common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I’d suggest the Nectar for everyone who wants that classic memory foam feel, deep body shaping and all.
– More importantly, I’d say this mattress could be a real winner for side sleepers, that will benefit from its cushiony pressure relief in the shoulders and buttocks.
– Considering its superb motion transfer and edge support results, I would also say the Nectar could be a good pick for couples.
– While a lot of people will enjoy the thick layers of memory foam in this bed, I’d say that stomach sleepers may find that it pushes their buttocks out of alignment with their shoulders.
– It also has virtually no bounce, which might be a dealbreaker for all those sleepers in search of buoyant support.
