Nectar Sleep sells a memory foam mattress with better quality foam materials relative to its rivals at a far lower price. Do not be tricked into thinking the Nectar mattress isn’t of the same caliber as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Jamison Memory Foam Mattress Reviews
Using gel memory foam quilted into the base of the cover and a layer of memory foam beneath, the Nectar contours well, but doesn’t have the exact same hug frequently associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam and the lack of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps significantly cooler than most memory foam models.
A support core composed of high-density polyfoam is built to withstand the test of time. Given its makeup, we project the Nectar to last at least 7-8 years, which makes it a durable choice.
The Nectar is hard to beat at this price, so if you’re looking for a reasonable mattress constructed with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Jamison Memory Foam Mattress Reviews
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has used a smart strategy of cheeky advertising and focused product development to evolve into one of the biggest competitors in the online bed-in-a-box marketplace. Jamison Memory Foam Mattress Reviews
Considering its popularity, the brand is often compared to Casper and Purple, two giants in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress market. Though all three mattresses have considerably distinct feels (which I’ll dissect in full later in this review), they do gain from a similar amount of name recognition and notoriety on sites likes ours and Reddit.
It is worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is far more affordable than the Casper or even the Purple, each of which come in at roughly $1,000.

Construction Jamison Memory Foam Mattress Reviews
Let us begin with the Nectar bed review. As I mentioned previously, this is an all-foam mattress composed of three different layers that stack up to an 11″ profile. The most notable component of the Nectar’s construction is its humungous 4″ of memory foam on top, which leads to a considerable amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how all this comes together, let’s dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is made up of of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco-friendly material famous for its softness and breathability. Furthermore, there’s an inch of gel memory foam quilted into the cover, which provides the sleeper with some instant relaxation. The combo of the gel infusion and Tencel fibers make for an ultra-cool coating that’ll help regulate temperatures throughout the night.
Comfort Layer – Directly under the cover, you will encounter 3″ of memory foam. This material has an incredibly slow response to stress, allowing the sleeper to really sink in for some gratifying pressure relief. As the foam contours to the curves of your body, you’re likely to feel like you’re sleeping more”in” the bed than”on top” of it, which may be a nice feel for side sleepers needing cushiony support at the shoulders and buttocks.
Transition Layer – Up next you’ll find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a slightly quicker response to pressure than the foams over it. This section is meant to alleviate the sleeper into the firmer foundation under, helping extend the shaping of the comfort layer even deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we have got 6″ of high-density poly foam. This section gives the bed its stability and contour, providing a firm foundation upon which the softer foams will respond.
After having a peek at the construction of the Nectar, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by putting some light hand pressure to the mattress and found I was immediately interacting with the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the Nectar, with all the gentle foams contouring around my palms. Pushing in further, I experienced even deeper sinkage into the mattress.
Since people of different body types and sizes are going to feel stability differently, I decided to bring in three other testers to check out the Nectar Sleep mattress. All of us took turns lying on the bed, and gave it a personal rating, then compiled them on the chart below.
While feel is always likely to be a personal thing, our answers should provide you with a good notion of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
Though there was a little discrepancy with our responses, we did end on an average firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs up perfectly with the market standard for medium firmness.
Personally, I gave the Nectar a 6 because I found its thick memory foam layers gave a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Regardless of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the material contouring to the shape of my body, resulting in some pretty awesome sinkage. While this translated to a softer rating for mepersonally, some sleepers may find memory foam to provide a firmer feel as their bodies slowly acclimate to its morphing shape.
Another important part of a new bed’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are most likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these pressure points may crop up, I placed a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some great pressure relief as the soft memory foam top layers contoured to my body and filled in the space at my lumbar region. While you may find memory foam to possess an initially firm feel, once you give your body a couple of minutes to sink through it, you will discover that it’s actually rather giving. A trade off for this satisfying pressure relief is that I did find it somewhat hard to move around and change positions. Jamison Memory Foam Mattress Reviews
Edge Support – Testing the edge support of this bed, I did discover some compression in the soft foam top layers. But, the high-density poly foam foundation did a fantastic job of supporting my weight in this position, which allowed me to feel safe on the side of the mattress.
Side – Turning on my side, I continued to feel great pressure relief from this mattress. Side sleepers tend to favor softer mattresses which contour snuggly into the shoulders and hips, and the Nectar more than delivers on this front.
Stomach – Regrettably, this comfort didn’t necessarily carry over when I rolled onto my belly. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders, which made for some tension along my spine. In general, stomach sleepers usually opt for firmer mattresses, so I was not overly surprised by this result.
Up next, let us take a look at motion transfer. This evaluation will demonstrate the quantity of disturbance detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other, which could be especially critical for those who share their bed with a partner.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is meant to signify a different movement you are likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are amazing motion transfer outcomes! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to soften movement throughout the structure, making sure that you will not be overly bothered by your mattress partner’s tossing and turning in the evening.
When buying a new bed, most people want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the bed and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to mimic different body components and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Jamison Memory Foam Mattress Reviews
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly thought these results would be a bit more intense! As I moved around the Nectar, I was struck by just how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it’s sort of surprising to find that the real measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the marketplace. That being said, you’re still more likely to feel as though you’re sleeping “in” the Nectar as opposed to “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we’ve broken down the specific, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let’s expand the scope and take a look at some of its main rivals in the game. While each mattress has unique features which make it a distinctive product in the market, it can be useful to contextualize these distinctions against other beds. Plus, who doesn’t love a tiny cross-referencing prior to making a big purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Nectar and Purple is like comparing oranges and apples — both are great in their own right, but fundamentally distinct goods.
– One of the most noticeable distinctions comes from the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a really bouncy material that provides pressure relief without too much body contouring.
– This hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, leading to a far cooler sleeping experience than the Nectar.
– And lastly, wherein the Nectar has virtually no bounce, the Purple has a tremendous amount of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
Although the Casper and Nectar are built entirely of foam, they actually have incredibly divergent feels, with the latter featuring considerably more sinkage compared to the former.
– Additionally, one of the standout features of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which provides targeted relief to the hips and shoulders.
– This also means the Casper has a more balanced texture compared to the Nectar, endearing it to a wider range of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike the majority of other memory foam mattresses that generally sleep a little hot, the Nectar offers a high level of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired with the infused cover keeps it cool, while giving maximum comfort.
With the Nectar being a high density foam, some may find it a little warmer than a coil, latex, or hybrid foam mattress.
Overall, our study did reveal that the Nectar is definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses in the marketplace today.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh from the box, the mattress is going to have a fairly strong odor for the first two days. But after, the smell starts to fade, and in just a week is totally gone.
So, if the smell is something that really bothers you, then I suggest maybe not sleeping on it the first two days.Jamison Memory Foam Mattress Reviews
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar could be sat directly on a box spring. Or if you want, a platform or almost any other flat supportive surface. In addition, it can be used with almost any adjustable bed frame, that can fit an 11′ mattress.
You can even put the Nectar right on the ground if that is what you would prefer to do. Just be certain there isn’t any water or moisture around.
What Is The Best Way To Take Care Of Your Nectar?
The Nectar needs no flipping. However, it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly one or two times per year to prevent it from excessive sagging or from wearing down.
For regular cleaning, it is advised to use cool water with mild dish soap, to clean any dirt or stains. Always wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.

In comparison to other foam mattresses, the Nectar according to our research has a long lifespan.
The Nectar is manufactured with premium quality materials and meets all industry standards. According to our study, the Nectar scores an 80 percent owner satisfaction rating and continues to increase in popularity today.

Is the Nectar Mattress Right For You?
Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the mattress, I want to provide you with a few recommendations and some of the very common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I would suggest the Nectar for anyone who wants that classic memory foam texture, deep body contouring and all.
– More specifically, I’d say this mattress could be a real winner for side sleepers, that will gain from its cushiony pressure relief at the shoulders and hips.
– Considering its superb motion transfer and edge support outcomes, I’d also say the Nectar might be a good choice for couples.
– While a great deal of people will dig the thick layers of memory foam in this bed, I would say that tummy sleepers may find that it sends their buttocks out of alignment with their shoulders.
– It also has virtually no rebound, which might be a dealbreaker for those sleepers in search of some buoyant support.
