Nectar Sleep offers a memory foam mattress using better quality foam materials relative to its competitors at a much lower price. Do not be tricked into thinking the Nectar mattress is not of similar quality as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Memory Foam Mattress Dublin Ireland
Using gel memory foam quilted into the bottom of the cover and also a layer of memory foam beneath, the Nectar contours well, but does not have the same hug often associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam and the lack of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps significantly cooler than most memory foam mattresses.
A support core consisting of high-density polyfoam is built to withstand the test of time. Given its construct, we project the Nectar to survive at least 7-8 years, which makes it a lasting choice.
The Nectar is difficult to beat at this price, so if you’re looking for an affordable bed built with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Memory Foam Mattress Dublin Ireland
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has used a smart strategy of cheeky advertising and focused product development to evolve into one of the biggest players in the online bed-in-a-box marketplace. Memory Foam Mattress Dublin Ireland
Considering its popularity, the brand is frequently compared to Casper and Purple, two behemoths in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress market. Though all three mattresses have substantially distinct feels (which I will dissect in full later in this review), they do benefit from a similar amount of name recognition and notoriety on websites likes ours and Reddit.
It’s worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is far less expensive than the Casper or even the Purple, each of which come in at about $1,000.

Construction Memory Foam Mattress Dublin Ireland
Let’s get started with the Nectar bed review. As I mentioned above, this is an all-foam mattress composed of three different layers that stack as much as an 11″ profile. The most notable aspect of the Nectar’s construction is the whopping 4″ of memory foam on top, which results in a significant amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how all this comes together, let us dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is made up of of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco friendly material known for its breathability and softness. Furthermore, there’s an inch of gel memory foam quilted into the cover, which provides the sleeper with some immediate comfort. The combo of the gel infusion and Tencel fibers make for an ultra-cool coating which will help regulate temperatures throughout the night.
Comfort Layer – Directly under the cover, you’ll find 3″ of memory foam. This material has a remarkably slow reaction to pressure, letting the sleeper to really sink in for some satisfying pressure relief. As the foam shapes to the curves of your body, you are likely to feel like you’re sleeping more”in” the bed than”on top” of it, which may be a pleasant feel for side sleepers in need of cushiony support at the shoulders and hips.
Transition Layer – Up next you’ll find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a marginally quicker reaction to pressure compared to the foams over it. This section is supposed to alleviate the sleeper into the firmer base under, helping to extend the contouring of the comfort layer deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we have got 6″ of high-density poly foam. This section provides the mattress its firmness and shape, providing a firm foundation upon which the softer foams will react.
After taking a peek at the construction of the Nectar, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting some light hand pressure into the mattress and discovered I was instantly interacting with all the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the gentle foams contouring around my palms. Pushing in further, I experienced even deeper sinkage into the mattress.
Since people of different body types and sizes are going to feel firmness differently, I made a decision to bring in three other testers to check out the Nectar Sleep mattress. We all took turns lying on the bed, and gave it a personal rating, and then compiled them on the chart below.
While feel is always going to be a personal thing, our responses should provide you with a good idea of the firmness range you can expect from the bed.
Although there was a little discrepancy with our answers, we did end on a mean firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs perfectly with the industry standard for moderate firmness.
Personally, I gave the Nectar a 6 as I found its thick memory foam layers gave a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Regardless of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the material contouring to the curves of my body, resulting in some pretty intense sinkage. While this translated into a softer rating for mepersonally, a few sleepers could find memory foam to produce a firmer feel as their bodies slowly acclimate into its morphing shape.
Another important part of a new mattress’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these pressure points may crop up, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some great pressure relief as the gentle memory foam top layers contoured to my entire body and filled in the space in my thoracic region. While you might find memory foam to possess an initially firm texture, once you provide your body a couple of minutes to sink in, you will find that it’s actually rather giving. A trade off for this satisfying pressure relief is that I did find it a bit difficult to move around and change positions. Memory Foam Mattress Dublin Ireland
Edge Support – Testing the edge support on this bed, I did detect some compression through the soft foam top layers. However, the high-density poly foam foundation did a good job of supporting my weight in this position, which allowed me to feel secure on the side of the Nectar.
Side – Turning on my side, I continued to feel fantastic pressure relief from this mattress. Side sleepers tend to prefer softer mattresses that contour snuggly to the shoulders and buttocks, and the Nectar more than delivers on this front.
Stomach – Unfortunately, this comfort did not necessarily carry over when I rolled onto my belly. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink from alignment with my shoulders, which made for some tension along my spine. Overall, stomach sleepers typically opt for firmer mattresses, so I was not overly surprised by this result.
Next, let’s take a look at motion transfer. This evaluation will demonstrate the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the bed to the other, which could be especially critical for those who share their mattress with a partner.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is meant to signify a different movement you are likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are amazing motion transfer results! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to dampen movement throughout the structure, making sure you will not be too bothered by your bed mate’s tossing and turning in the evening.
When purchasing a new bed, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the bed and measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body components and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Memory Foam Mattress Dublin Ireland
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly believed these results would be a bit more intense! As I rolled around the Nectar, I was surprised by how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it’s kind of surprising to see that the real measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the marketplace. That being said, you are still more likely to feel as though you’re sleeping “in” the Nectar as opposed to “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we’ve broken down the particular, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let’s expand the scope and have a peek at some of its main competitors in the game. While each mattress has unique characteristics which make it a different product in the market, it can be useful to contextualize these distinctions against other beds. Plus, who doesn’t love a little cross-referencing before making a big purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Purple and Nectar is like comparing apples and oranges — both are great in their own right, but fundamentally different products.
– One of the very noticeable distinctions comes in the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a bouncy material that provides pressure relief without too much body contouring.
– The hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, leading to a much cooler sleeping experience compared to Nectar.
– And finally, wherein the Nectar has virtually no bounce, the Purple has a tremendous quantity of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
While both the Casper and Nectar are built entirely of foam, they really have incredibly divergent feels, with the latter featuring much more sinkage compared to the former.
– Additionally, one of the standout attributes of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which provides targeted relief to the hips and shoulders.
– This means the Casper has a more balanced texture compared to the Nectar, endearing it to a wider range of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike the majority of other memory foam mattresses that tend to sleep a little hot, the Nectar offers a high level of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired together with the infused cover keeps the temperature cool, while giving maximum comfort.
Because the Nectar is a high density foam, some could find it somewhat warmer than a hybrid, coil, or latex foam mattress.
Overall, our study did reveal that the Nectar is most definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses in the marketplace today.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh from the box, the mattress will have a fairly powerful odor for the first two days. After this, the odor starts to fade, and within a week is totally gone.
So, if the smell is something which really bothers you, then I suggest not sleeping on it for the first couple days.Memory Foam Mattress Dublin Ireland
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar could be sat directly on a box spring. Or if you prefer, a platform or almost any other flat supportive surface. It can also be used with any adjustable bed frame, that can fit an 11′ mattress.
You can even use the Nectar right on the floor if that is what you would like to do. Just make sure there is not any moisture or water around.
What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Nectar?
The Nectar needs no flipping. But, it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice per year to stop it from excessive sagging or from wearing down.
For routine cleaning, it is advised to use cool water along mild dish soap, to clean any dirt or stains. Always clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
How Durable Is The Nectar Mattress?
Compared to other foam mattresses, the Nectar based on our studies has a very long lifespan.
The Nectar is manufactured with high quality materials and meets all industry standards. According to our research, the Nectar scores an 80 percent owner satisfaction rating and continues to increase in popularity today.

Is the Nectar Mattress Right For You?
Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the bed, I want to give you a few recommendations and some of the very common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I would suggest the Nectar for everyone who wants that classic memory foam texture, deep body contouring and all.
– More importantly, I would say this mattress could be a real winner for side sleepers, who will gain from its cushiony pressure relief in the shoulders and hips.
– Considering its superb motion transfer and edge support results, I’d also say the Nectar could be a solid pick for couples.
– While a great deal of folks will dig the thick layers of memory foam in this mattress, I would say that tummy sleepers may find that it pushes their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
– It also has almost no bounce, which could be a dealbreaker for all those sleepers in search of buoyant support.
