Nectar Sleep offers a memory foam mattress using better quality foam materials relative to its rivals at a far lower cost. Don’t be tricked into thinking the Nectar mattress isn’t of the same caliber as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Memory Foam Mattress King Size
Having gel memory foam built into the bottom of the cover and also a layer of memory foam beneath, the Nectar shapes well, but does not have the same hug often associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam along with the absence of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps significantly cooler than most memory foam mattresses.
A support core composed of high-density polyfoam is made to withstand the test of time. Given its makeup, we project the Nectar to last at least 7-8 years, making it a lasting choice.
The Nectar is difficult to beat at this price, so if you’re looking for an affordable bed built with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Memory Foam Mattress King Size
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has used a clever strategy of cheeky marketing and focused product development to evolve into one of the greatest players in the online bed-in-a-box market. Memory Foam Mattress King Size
Considering its popularity, the brand is often compared to Purple and Casper, two behemoths in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress world. Though all 3 mattresses have substantially different feels (which I will dissect in full later in this review), they do gain from a similar amount of name recognition and notoriety on websites likes ours and Reddit.
It’s worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is far less expensive than the Casper or even the Purple, both of which come in at about $1,000.

Construction Memory Foam Mattress King Size
Let’s get started with the Nectar bed review. As I mentioned previously, this is an all-foam mattress made up of three distinct layers that pile up to an 11″ profile. The most notable aspect of the Nectar’s construction is its whopping 4″ of memory foam on top, which leads to a significant amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how this comes together, let’s dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is comprised of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco friendly substance famous for its breathability and softness. Furthermore, there’s an inch of gel memory foam quilted into the cover, which provides the sleeper with some instant comfort. The combination of the gel infusion and Tencel fibers make for an ultra-cool coating that’ll help regulate temperatures during the evening.
Comfort Layer – Directly under the cover, you will encounter 3″ of memory foam. This material has a remarkably slow reaction to stress, allowing the sleeper to really sink in for some gratifying pressure relief. As the foam contours to the curves of your body, you’re most likely to feel as though you’re sleeping more”in” the bed compared to”on top” of it, which may be a pleasant feel for side sleepers in need of cushiony support at the shoulders and buttocks.
Transition Layer – Next you’ll find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a slightly quicker response to pressure than the foams over it. This section is meant to alleviate the sleeper into the firmer foundation under, helping to extend the contouring of the comfort layer even deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we’ve got 6″ of high-density poly foam. This section provides the mattress its stability and contour, offering a firm foundation upon which the softer foams will respond.
After having a peek at the construction of the Nectar, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying some light hand pressure into the mattress and found I was instantly interacting with the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the Nectar, with the gentle foams contouring around my palms. Pushing in further, I experienced deeper sinkage into the mattress.
Since folks of different body types and sizes will feel firmness differently, I made a decision to bring in three other testers to check out the Nectar Sleep mattress. We all took a turn lying on the mattress, and gave it a personal rating, and then compiled them on the graph below.
While feel is always going to be a personal thing, our responses should provide you with a good notion of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
Though there was a little discrepancy with our responses, we did end on a mean firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs up perfectly with the market standard for moderate firmness.
I personally gave the Nectar a 6 because I found its thick memory foam layers produced a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Regardless of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the material contouring to the shape of my body, leading to some pretty intense sinkage. While this translated to a softer rating for me, a few sleepers may find memory foam to provide a firmer feel as their bodies slowly acclimate to its morphing contour.
Another important component of a new bed’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are most likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these pressure points might crop up, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the results on the chart below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some great pressure relief as the gentle memory foam top layers shaped into my entire body and filled in the space at my lumbar region. Even though you may find memory foam to possess an initially firm feel, as soon as you provide your body a few minutes to sink through it, you will discover that it’s actually rather giving. A trade off to this gratifying pressure relief is that I did find it a bit hard to move around and change positions. Memory Foam Mattress King Size
Edge Support – Testing out the edge support of this bed, I did discover some compression in the soft foam top layers. However, the high-density poly foam foundation did a good job of supporting my weight in this position, which enabled me to feel secure on the side of the mattress.
Side – Turning onto my side, I continued to feel fantastic pressure relief from this bed. Side sleepers tend to favor softer mattresses that contour snuggly into the shoulders and hips, and the Nectar more than delivers on that front.
Stomach – Regrettably, this comfort did not necessarily carry over when I rolled onto my stomach. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders, which made for a little tension along my backbone. Overall, stomach sleepers usually opt for firmer mattresses, so I wasn’t overly surprised by this result.
Up next, let us take a look at motion transfer. This evaluation will demonstrate the amount of disturbance detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other, which could be especially important for those of you who share their bed with a spouse.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is intended to symbolize a different movement you’re most likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are incredible motion transfer results! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to soften movement across the structure, ensuring that you will not be overly bothered by your mattress mate’s tossing and turning in the evening.
When buying a new bed, most people want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the bed or lying”on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying densities and sizes (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to mimic different body components and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Memory Foam Mattress King Size
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly thought these results would be a little more intense! As I moved around the Nectar, I was struck by how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it’s kind of surprising to find that the real measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the marketplace. That said, you are still more likely to feel as though you are sleeping “in” the Nectar instead of “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we’ve broken down the particular, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let’s widen the scope and take a look at a few of its main rivals in the game. While each bed has unique features that make it a different product in the space, it may be useful to contextualize these distinctions against other beds. Plus, who doesn’t love a tiny cross-referencing prior to making a large purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Nectar and Purple is like comparing apples and oranges — both are lovely in their own right, but inherently distinct goods.
– Among the very noticeable differences comes from the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a bouncy material that provides pressure relief without an excessive amount of body contouring.
– The hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, resulting in a far cooler sleeping experience than the Nectar.
– And lastly, where the Nectar has virtually no bounce, the Purple has an enormous amount of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
Although the Casper and Nectar are built completely of foam, they actually have incredibly divergent feels, with the latter featuring considerably more sinkage than the former.
– Also, one of the standout features of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which brings targeted relief to the shoulders and hips.
– This also means that the Casper has a more balanced texture compared to the Nectar, endearing it to a wider range of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike the majority of other memory foam mattresses that tend to sleep a bit warm, the Nectar provides a high amount of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired with the infused cover keeps the temperature cool, while giving maximum comfort.
Because the Nectar is a high density foam, some may find it somewhat warmer than a hybrid, coil, or latex foam mattress.
In general, our study did show that the Nectar is definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses in the marketplace nowadays.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh out of the box, the mattress is going to have a fairly strong odor for the first two days. But after, the smell starts to fade, and within a week is totally gone.
So, if the smell is something that really bothers you, I suggest not sleeping on it for the first couple days.Memory Foam Mattress King Size
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar mattress could be sat directly on a box spring. Or if you prefer, a platform or any other flat supportive surface. In addition, it can be utilized with any adjustable bed frame, that can fit an 11′ mattress.
You can also use the Nectar directly on the ground if that’s what you’d prefer to do. Just make sure there isn’t any moisture or water around.
What Is The Best Way To Take Care Of Your Nectar?
The Nectar needs no flipping. However, it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice per year to prevent it from wearing down or from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water with mild dish soap, to clean any stains or dirt. Always clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
How Durable Is The Nectar Mattress?
Compared to other foam mattresses, the Nectar based on our studies has a long lifespan.
The Nectar is made with premium quality materials and matches all industry standards. According to our study, the Nectar scores an 80% owner satisfaction rating and continues to grow in popularity now.

Is the Nectar Mattress Appropriate For You?
Since we’ve already taken a closer look at the mattress, I am going to provide you with a few recommendations and some of the very common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I’d suggest the Nectar for anyone who wants that classic memory foam texture, deep body contouring and all.
– More specifically, I would say this mattress could be a real winner for side sleepers, that will gain from its cushiony pressure relief in the shoulders and buttocks.
– Considering its superb motion transfer and edge support outcomes, I would also say the Nectar could be a good pick for couples.
– While a great deal of folks will enjoy the thick layers of memory foam in this mattress, I would say that stomach sleepers may find that it pushes their buttocks out of alignment with their shoulders.
– It also has almost no rebound, which could be a dealbreaker for all those sleepers in search of some buoyant support.
