Nectar Sleep sells a memory foam mattress with better quality foam materials relative to its competitors at a much lower price. Do not be tricked into believing the Nectar mattress is not of the same quality as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Memory Foam Mattress Pad King
Having gel memory foam quilted into the base of the cover and also a layer of memory foam beneath, the Nectar shapes well, but does not have the same hug frequently associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam and the absence of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps considerably cooler than most memory foam mattresses.
A support core composed of high-density polyfoam is built to withstand the test of time. Given its construct, we project the Nectar to last at least 7-8 years, making it a lasting option.
The Nectar is hard to beat at this price, so if you’re searching for an affordable mattress constructed with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Memory Foam Mattress Pad King
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has employed a smart strategy of cheeky advertising and focused product development to evolve into one of the biggest players in the online bed-in-a-box market. Memory Foam Mattress Pad King
Considering its prevalence, the brand is frequently compared to Casper and Purple, two behemoths in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress market. Though all 3 mattresses have considerably distinct feels (which I’ll dissect in detail later in this review), they do benefit from a similar amount of brand recognition and notoriety on websites likes ours and Reddit.
It’s worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is more affordable than either the Casper or the Purple, both of which come in at roughly $1,000.

Construction Memory Foam Mattress Pad King
Let’s begin with the Nectar bed review. As I mentioned above, this is an all-foam mattress composed of three distinct layers that pile as much as an 11″ profile. The most notable aspect of the Nectar’s construction is its whopping 4″ of memory foam up top, which results in a considerable amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how all this comes together, let’s dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is comprised of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco-friendly substance famous for its breathability and softness. Additionally, there’s an inch of gel memory foam quilted into the cover, which provides the sleeper with some immediate relaxation. The combo of the Tencel fibers and gel infusion make for an ultra-cool coating which will help regulate temperatures during the night.
Comfort Layer – Right under the cover, you’ll encounter 3″ of memory foam. This material has an incredibly slow response to pressure, allowing the sleeper to really sink in for some gratifying pressure relief. As the foam shapes to the curves of your body, you are most likely to feel like you’re sleeping more”in” the bed than”on top” of it, which may be a nice feel for side sleepers needing cushiony support at the shoulders and hips.
Transition Layer – Next you are going to find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a slightly quicker reaction to pressure compared to the foams above it. This section is meant to alleviate the sleeper into the firmer foundation below, helping extend the contouring of the comfort layer even deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we have got 6″ of high-density poly foam. This section provides the bed its firmness and shape, offering a firm foundation upon which the softer foams will react.
After taking a look at the construction of the Nectar, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by putting some light hand pressure into the mattress and found I was instantly interacting with the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the gentle foams contouring round my palms. Pushing in further, I experienced even deeper sinkage into the bed.
Since people of different body types and sizes are going to feel stability differently, I made a decision to bring in three other testers to have a look at the Nectar Sleep mattress. All of us took turns lying on the bed, and gave it a personal evaluation, then compiled them on the chart below.
While texture is always likely to be a personal thing, our responses should give you with a good notion of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
Although there was a little discrepancy with our answers, we did finish on an average firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs up perfectly with the industry standard for medium firmness.
I personally gave the Nectar a 6 because I found its thick memory foam layers produced a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Regardless of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the mattress contouring to the curves of my body, resulting in some pretty awesome sinkage. While this translated to a softer rating for me, a few sleepers may find memory foam to produce a firmer feel as their bodies slowly acclimate to its morphing contour.
Another important component of a new bed’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are most likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these pressure points may crop up, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some great pressure relief as the soft memory foam top layers contoured to my body and filled in the space in my thoracic region. While you may find memory foam to have an initially firm feel, once you give your body a few minutes to sink in, you’ll find that it’s actually rather giving. A trade off for this satisfying pressure relief is that I did find it a bit hard to maneuver around and change positions. Memory Foam Mattress Pad King
Edge Support – Testing out the edge support on this mattress, I did detect some compression through the soft foam top layers. But, the high-density poly foam base did a good job of supporting my weight in this position, which allowed me to feel safe on the side of the mattress.
Side – Turning on my side, I continued to feel fantastic pressure relief from this bed. Side sleepers have a tendency to prefer softer mattresses that shape snuggly into the shoulders and hips, and the Nectar more than delivers on that front.
Stomach – Regrettably, this comfort didn’t necessarily carry over when I rolled onto my stomach. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink from alignment with my shoulders, which made for a little tension along my backbone. In general, stomach sleepers typically opt for firmer mattresses, therefore I was not too surprised by this result.
Up next, let us take a look at motion transfer. This evaluation will demonstrate the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the bed to the other, which could be especially important for those of you who share their mattress with a spouse.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is intended to symbolize a different movement you’re likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are incredible motion transfer results! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to dampen movement throughout the structure, ensuring that you will not be too bothered by your bed mate’s tossing and turning in the evening.
When buying a new bed, most men and women wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to mimic different body parts and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Memory Foam Mattress Pad King
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly believed these results would be a bit more extreme! As I moved around the Nectar, I was surprised by just how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it’s sort of surprising to see that the real measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the market. That said, you’re still more likely to feel like you are sleeping “in” the Nectar as opposed to “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we’ve broken down the particular, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let us widen the scope and have a peek at a few of its biggest competitors in the game. While every bed has unique characteristics that make it a different product in the market, it may be useful to contextualize these differences against other beds. Plus, who doesn’t love a tiny cross-referencing before making a big purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Nectar and Purple is like comparing apples and oranges — both are lovely in their own right, but inherently different products.
– One of the most noticeable differences comes from the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a bouncy material that provides pressure relief without an excessive amount of body contouring.
– This hyper-elastic polymer grid additionally makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, leading to a much cooler sleeping experience compared to Nectar.
– And lastly, wherein the Nectar has virtually no bounce, the Purple has an enormous amount of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
While both the Casper and Nectar are constructed completely of foam, they actually have incredibly divergent feels, with the latter featuring much more sinkage than the former.
– Also, one of the standout attributes of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which provides targeted relief to the hips and shoulders.
– This means that the Casper has a more balanced texture than the Nectar, endearing it to a larger selection of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike the majority of other memory foam mattresses that tend to sleep a bit hot, the Nectar provides a high level of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired together with the infused cover keeps it cool, while giving maximum comfort.
Because the Nectar is a high density foam, some could find it somewhat warmer than a coil, latex, or hybrid foam mattress.
Overall, our study did reveal that the Nectar is most definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses on the market today.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh from the box, the mattress will have a fairly powerful odor for the first 2 days. After this, the odor starts to fade, and in just a week is completely gone.
So, if the odor is something that really bothers you, I suggest maybe not sleeping on it for the first two days.Memory Foam Mattress Pad King
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar mattress can be sat right on a box spring. Or if you prefer, a platform or any other flat supportive surface. In addition, it can be used with almost any adjustable bed frame, that can fit an 11′ mattress.
You can also put the Nectar right on the ground if that’s what you would like to do. Just be certain that there isn’t any water or moisture around.
What Is The Best Way To Take Care Of The Nectar?
The Nectar needs no flipping. But, it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps one or two times per year to stop it from wearing down or from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water along mild dish soap, to clean any stains or dirt. Always clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
How Durable Is The Nectar Mattress?
Compared to other foam mattresses, the Nectar based on our research has a very long lifespan.

Is the Nectar Mattress Appropriate For You?
Since we’ve already taken a closer look at the bed, I want to give you a few recommendations and some of the most common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I’d recommend the Nectar for everyone who wants that classic memory foam feel, deep body shaping and all.
– More importantly, I would say this mattress could be a real winner for side sleepers, who will gain from its cushiony pressure relief at the shoulders and hips.
– Considering its excellent motion transfer and edge support outcomes, I would also say the Nectar might be a good choice for couples.
– While a great deal of people will dig the thick layers of memory foam in this mattress, I would say that stomach sleepers may find that it pushes their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
– It also has virtually no rebound, which might be a dealbreaker for those sleepers in search of buoyant support.
