Nectar Sleep offers a memory foam mattress using better quality foam materials relative to its rivals at a far lower price. Don’t be tricked into thinking the Nectar mattress isn’t of the same quality as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Memory Foam Mattress Reviews Ikea
Having gel memory foam quilted into the bottom of the cover and also a layer of memory foam beneath, the Nectar contours well, but does not have the exact same hug often associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam and the absence of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps considerably cooler than many memory foam mattresses.
A support core composed of high-density polyfoam is made to withstand the test of time. Given its makeup, we expect the Nectar to survive at least 7-8 years, making it a durable option.
The Nectar is difficult to beat at this price, so if you’re looking for a reasonable bed built with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Memory Foam Mattress Reviews Ikea
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has employed a clever strategy of cheeky marketing and focused product development to evolve into one of the greatest competitors in the online bed-in-a-box market. Memory Foam Mattress Reviews Ikea
Considering its prevalence, the brand is often compared to Purple and Casper, two behemoths in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress market. Though all three mattresses have considerably distinct feels (which I’ll dissect in full later in this review), they do gain from a similar amount of name recognition and notoriety on sites likes ours and Reddit.
It’s worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is far less expensive than either the Casper or the Purple, each of which come in at roughly $1,000.

Construction Memory Foam Mattress Reviews Ikea
Let us begin with the Nectar bed review. As I mentioned above, this is an all-foam mattress composed of three distinct layers that stack as much as an 11″ profile. The most notable aspect of the Nectar’s construction is the humungous 4″ of memory foam on top, which leads to a considerable amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how this comes together, let us dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is comprised of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco friendly substance famous for its breathability and softness. Furthermore, there’s an inch of gel memory foam built into the cover, which offers the sleeper with some immediate relaxation. The combination of the Tencel fibers and gel infusion make for an ultra-cool layer that’ll help regulate temperatures during the night.
Comfort Layer – Right under the cover, you will find 3″ of memory foam. This material has a remarkably slow reaction to stress, allowing the sleeper to really sink in for some satisfying pressure relief. As the foam contours to the curves of your body, you are most likely to feel as though you are sleeping more”in” the bed than”on top” of it, which may be a pleasant feel for side sleepers in need of cushiony support in the shoulders and buttocks.
Transition Layer – Next you’ll find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a marginally quicker reaction to pressure compared to the foams over it. This section is meant to ease the sleeper into the firmer foundation below, helping to extend the contouring of the comfort layer deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we’ve got 6″ of high-density poly foam. This section gives the mattress its stability and contour, providing a firm foundation upon which the softer foams will respond.
After taking a peek at the construction of the Nectar, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting some light hand pressure to the mattress and found I was immediately interacting with the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the gentle foams contouring round my fingers. Pushing in further, I experienced even deeper sinkage into the bed.
Since folks of different body types and sizes are going to feel firmness differently, I made a decision to bring in three other testers to check out the Nectar Sleep mattress. We all took turns lying on the bed, and gave it a personal evaluation, then compiled them onto the graph below.
While texture is always going to be a personal thing, our answers should give you with a good notion of the firmness range you may expect from the mattress.
Though there was a little discrepancy with our responses, we did end on an average firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs perfectly with the industry standard for moderate firmness.
I personally gave the Nectar a 6 because I found its thick memory foam layers produced a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Irrespective of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the mattress contouring to the curves of my body, leading to some pretty intense sinkage. While this translated into a softer rating for me, a few sleepers could find memory foam to produce a firmer feel as their bodies slowly acclimate to its morphing shape.
Another important component of a new bed’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are most likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these pressure points may arise, I placed a pressure map above the mattress and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can find the results on the chart below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some great pressure relief as the soft memory foam top layers contoured to my entire body and filled in the space in my thoracic region. Even though you may find memory foam to have an initially firm texture, once you give your body a few minutes to sink through it, you’ll find that it’s actually rather giving. A trade off for this satisfying pressure relief is that I did find it a bit difficult to maneuver around and change positions. Memory Foam Mattress Reviews Ikea
Edge Support – Testing the edge support on this bed, I did detect some compression in the soft foam top layers. But, the high-density poly foam base did a fantastic job of supporting my weight in this position, which allowed me to feel safe on the side of the mattress.
Side – Turning onto my side, I continued to feel fantastic pressure relief from this mattress. Side sleepers have a tendency to prefer softer mattresses that contour snuggly into the shoulders and hips, and the Nectar more than delivers on that front.
Stomach – Regrettably, this comfort didn’t necessarily carry over when I rolled onto my stomach. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders, which made for a little tension along my backbone. Overall, stomach sleepers usually opt for firmer mattresses, therefore I wasn’t too surprised by this result.
Up next, let us take a look at motion transfer. This test will demonstrate the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress to the other, which might be especially important for those of you who share their mattress with a partner.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is intended to signify a different movement you are most likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are amazing motion transfer results! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to soften movement across the structure, making sure that you will not be overly bothered by your mattress mate’s tossing and turning in the night.
When buying a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the bed or lying”on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to mimic different body components and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Memory Foam Mattress Reviews Ikea
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly thought these results would be a bit more intense! As I moved around the Nectar, I was struck by how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it’s sort of surprising to find that the real measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the marketplace. That said, you are still more likely to feel as though you are sleeping “in” the Nectar as opposed to “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we have broken down the specific, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let’s widen the scope and have a peek at a few of its main rivals in the game. While every mattress has unique characteristics that make it a distinctive product in the market, it can be useful to contextualize these differences against other beds. Plus, who does not love a little cross-referencing before making a large purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Purple and Nectar is like comparing apples and oranges — both are lovely in their own right, but inherently distinct goods.
– Among the most noticeable distinctions comes from the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a really bouncy material that provides pressure relief without too much body contouring.
– The hyper-elastic polymer grid additionally makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, leading to a much cooler sleeping experience compared to Nectar.
– And finally, where the Nectar has practically no bounce, the Purple has a tremendous quantity of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
Although the Casper and Nectar are constructed completely of foam, they really have unbelievably divergent feels, with the latter featuring considerably more sinkage than the former.
– Also, one of the standout features of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which brings targeted relief to the shoulders and hips.
– This also means the Casper has a more balanced texture compared to the Nectar, endearing it to a larger range of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike most other memory foam mattresses that tend to sleep a little warm, the Nectar provides a high level of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired together with the infused cover keeps the temperature cool, while providing maximum comfort.
With the Nectar being a high density foam, some could find it a little warmer than a coil, latex, or hybrid foam mattress.
Overall, our study did show that the Nectar is definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses on the market today.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh out of the box, the mattress is going to have a fairly powerful odor for the first two days. But after, the smell starts to fade, and within a week is completely gone.
So, if the odor is something which really bothers you, I suggest not sleeping on it the first couple days.Memory Foam Mattress Reviews Ikea
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar could be sat directly on a box spring. Or if you prefer, a platform or almost any other flat supportive surface. It can also be utilized with almost any adjustable bed frame, that can fit an 11 inch mattress.
You can even use the Nectar right on the floor if that is what you would like to do. Just make sure there is not any moisture or water around.
What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Nectar?
The Nectar needs no flipping. But, it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down or from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water with mild dish detergent, to clean any stains or dirt. Always clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.

Is the Nectar Mattress Appropriate For You?
Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the mattress, I am going to provide you with a few recommendations and some of the very common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I’d suggest the Nectar for anyone who desires that classic memory foam texture, deep body contouring and all.
– More specifically, I would say this mattress might be a real winner for side sleepers, that will gain from its cushiony pressure relief at the shoulders and buttocks.
– Considering its excellent motion transfer and edge support results, I would also say the Nectar could be a good choice for couples.
– While a great deal of people will dig the thick layers of memory foam in this bed, I’d say that tummy sleepers may find that it pushes their buttocks out of alignment with their shoulders.
– Additionally, it has virtually no bounce, which could be a dealbreaker for those sleepers looking for buoyant support.
