Nectar Sleep offers a memory foam mattress with better quality foam materials relative to its rivals at a far lower price. Do not be tricked into believing the Nectar mattress isn’t of similar quality as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Memory Foam Mattress Ripped
Using gel memory foam built into the bottom of the cover and a layer of memory foam under, the Nectar contours well, but does not have the exact same hug frequently associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam along with the absence of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps significantly cooler than most memory foam models.
A support core consisting of high-density polyfoam is made to withstand the test of time. Given its makeup, we expect the Nectar to survive at least 7-8 years, which makes it a lasting option.
The Nectar is difficult to beat at this price, so if you’re searching for a reasonable bed built with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Memory Foam Mattress Ripped
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has employed a smart strategy of cheeky marketing and concentrated product development to evolve into one of the greatest players in the online bed-in-a-box market. Memory Foam Mattress Ripped
Considering its prevalence, the brand is frequently compared to Casper and Purple, two behemoths in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress market. Though all three mattresses have considerably different feels (which I will dissect in full later on in this review), they do gain from a similar amount of brand recognition and notoriety on sites likes ours and Reddit.
It’s worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is less expensive than either the Casper or the Purple, each of which come in at about $1,000.

Memory Foam Mattress Ripped
Construction Memory Foam Mattress Ripped
Let’s begin with the Nectar mattress review. As I mentioned above, this is an all-foam mattress composed of three distinct layers that stack as much as an 11″ profile. The most notable aspect of the Nectar’s construction is the whopping 4″ of memory foam on top, which leads to a considerable amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how this comes together, let’s dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is made up of of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco-friendly material famous for its breathability and softness. Additionally, there’s an inch of gel memory foam quilted into the cover, which offers the sleeper with some immediate comfort. The combo of the gel infusion and Tencel fibers make for an ultra-cool coating that’ll help regulate temperatures throughout the night.
Comfort Layer – Right under the cover, you’ll find 3″ of memory foam. This material has a remarkably slow reaction to stress, letting the sleeper to really sink in for some gratifying pressure relief. As the foam contours to the curves of your body, you are likely to feel as though you are sleeping more”in” the bed compared to”on top” of it, which could be a pleasant feel for side sleepers needing cushiony support at the shoulders and buttocks.
Transition Layer – Next you’ll find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a marginally quicker reaction to pressure compared to the foams over it. This section is meant to alleviate the sleeper into the firmer base under, helping extend the contouring of the comfort layer deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we’ve got 6″ of high-density poly foam. This section gives the bed its stability and contour, offering a firm foundation upon which the softer foams can respond.
After taking a peek at the construction of the Nectar, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying some light hand pressure into the mattress and found I was instantly interacting with all the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the gentle foams contouring round my fingers. Pushing in further, I experienced even deeper sinkage into the mattress.
Since people of different body types and sizes will feel stability differently, I decided to bring in three other testers to check out the Nectar Sleep mattress. All of us took a turn lying on the bed, and gave it a personal evaluation, and then compiled them on the graph below.
While texture is always likely to be a personal thing, our responses should provide you with a good idea of the firmness range you can expect from the bed.
Although there was a little discrepancy with our responses, we did end on a mean firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs up perfectly with the market standard for medium firmness.
I personally gave the Nectar a 6 as I found its thick memory foam layers produced a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Irrespective of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the material contouring to the shape of my body, leading to some pretty awesome sinkage. While this translated to a softer rating for me, a few sleepers could find memory foam to provide a firmer feel as their bodies gradually acclimate to its morphing contour.
Another important part of a new bed’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these pressure points may crop up, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some fantastic pressure relief as the gentle memory foam top layers contoured to my body and filled in the space in my thoracic region. While you may find memory foam to have an initially firm feel, as soon as you provide your body a couple of minutes to sink through it, you will find that it’s actually quite giving. A trade off for this satisfying pressure relief is that I did find it somewhat difficult to move around and change positions. Memory Foam Mattress Ripped
Edge Support – Testing the edge support of this mattress, I did discover some compression through the soft foam top layers. But, the high-density poly foam foundation did a good job of supporting my weight in this position, which allowed me to feel secure on the side of the bed.
Side – Turning on my side, I continued to feel fantastic pressure relief from this mattress. Side sleepers tend to prefer softer mattresses which contour snuggly into the shoulders and hips, and the Nectar more than delivers on this front.
Stomach – Regrettably, this comfort did not necessarily carry over when I rolled onto my belly. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink from alignment with my shoulders, which made for a little tension along my spine. Overall, stomach sleepers typically opt for firmer mattresses, so I was not overly surprised by this outcome.
Up next, let’s take a look at motion transfer. This test will demonstrate the quantity of disturbance detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other, which might be particularly important for those who share their mattress with a spouse.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is intended to symbolize a different movement you are likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are incredible motion transfer results! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to dampen movement across the structure, ensuring that you won’t be too bothered by your bed mate’s tossing and turning in the night.
When buying a new bed, most people want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the bed or lying”on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the bed and quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Memory Foam Mattress Ripped
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly thought these results would be a little more extreme! As I rolled around the Nectar, I was struck by just how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it’s sort of surprising to find that the actual measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the market. That said, you are still more likely to feel like you’re sleeping “in” the Nectar instead of “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we have broken down the particular, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let’s widen the scope and take a peek at a few of its biggest competitors in the game. While every mattress has unique characteristics that make it a different product in the market, it may be useful to contextualize these distinctions against other beds. Plus, who doesn’t love a little cross-referencing before making a large purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Purple and Nectar is like comparing oranges and apples — both are great in their own right, but fundamentally distinct goods.
– One of the very noticeable distinctions comes from the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a really bouncy material that provides pressure relief without an excessive amount of body contouring.
– This hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, resulting in a far cooler sleeping experience compared to Nectar.
– And finally, where the Nectar has practically no bounce, the Purple has an enormous quantity of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
Although the Casper and Nectar are built completely of foam, they actually have unbelievably divergent feels, with the latter featuring much more sinkage than the former.
– Also, one of the standout attributes of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which provides targeted relief to the hips and shoulders.
– This also means the Casper has a more balanced feel than the Nectar, endearing it to a larger range of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike the majority of other memory foam mattresses that tend to sleep a bit hot, the Nectar provides a high level of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired with the infused cover keeps the temperature cool, while providing maximum comfort.
Because the Nectar is a high density foam, some could find it somewhat warmer than a hybrid, coil, or latex foam mattress.
Overall, our study did show that the Nectar is definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses in the marketplace nowadays.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh out of the box, the mattress will have a fairly powerful odor for the first 2 days. After this, the odor starts to fade, and in just a week is completely gone.
So, if the odor is something that actually bothers you, then I suggest maybe not sleeping on it for the first couple days.Memory Foam Mattress Ripped
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar mattress could be sat right on a box spring. Or if you want, a platform or almost any other flat supportive surface. It can also be used with almost any adjustable bed frame, that can fit an 11 inch mattress.
You can also use the Nectar directly on the floor if that’s what you would prefer to do. Just make sure that there isn’t any moisture or water around.
What Is The Best Way To Care For The Nectar?
The Nectar requires no flipping. But, it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice per year to stop it from wearing down or from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water along mild dish detergent, to clean any stains or dirt. Always clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
How Durable Is The Nectar Mattress?
Compared to other foam mattresses, the Nectar based on our research has a very long lifespan.

Is the Nectar Mattress Right For You?
Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the mattress, I want to give you a few recommendations and some of the very common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I would suggest the Nectar for anyone who wants that classic memory foam texture, deep body contouring and all.
– More specifically, I’d say this mattress might be a real winner for side sleepers, that will gain from its cushiony pressure relief at the shoulders and buttocks.
– Considering its superb motion transfer and edge support outcomes, I’d also say the Nectar could be a solid pick for couples.
– While a lot of folks will enjoy the thick layers of memory foam in this bed, I’d say that tummy sleepers may find that it sends their buttocks out of alignment with their shoulders.
– It also has almost no bounce, which could be a dealbreaker for all those sleepers looking for some buoyant support.
