Nectar Sleep sells a memory foam mattress with better quality foam materials relative to its rivals at a much lower price. Don’t be tricked into thinking the Nectar mattress isn’t of similar caliber as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Memory Foam Mattress Topper Recycle
Having gel memory foam built into the bottom of the cover and also a layer of memory foam under, the Nectar shapes well, but doesn’t have the same hug often associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam and the lack of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps significantly cooler than many memory foam mattresses.
A support core consisting of high-density polyfoam is built to withstand the test of time. Given its construct, we project the Nectar to survive at least 7-8 years, which makes it a durable option.
The Nectar is difficult to beat at this price, so if you’re searching for a reasonable bed built with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Memory Foam Mattress Topper Recycle
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has employed a clever strategy of cheeky marketing and concentrated product development to evolve into one of the biggest competitors in the online bed-in-a-box marketplace. Memory Foam Mattress Topper Recycle
Considering its popularity, the brand is frequently compared to Casper and Purple, two giants in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress world. Though all three mattresses have considerably different feels (which I will dissect in full later on in this review), they do benefit from a similar amount of brand recognition and notoriety on websites likes ours and Reddit.
It’s worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is less expensive than the Casper or the Purple, both of which come in at roughly $1,000.

Construction Memory Foam Mattress Topper Recycle
Let us get started with the Nectar bed review. As I mentioned previously, this is an all-foam mattress made up of three different layers that pile up to an 11″ profile. The most notable aspect of the Nectar’s construction is its humungous 4″ of memory foam up top, which leads to a considerable amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how all this comes together, let’s dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is made up of of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco-friendly material known for its softness and breathability. Furthermore, there’s an inch of gel memory foam built into the cover, which offers the sleeper with some instant comfort. The combination of the gel infusion and Tencel fibers make for an ultra-cool layer which will help regulate temperatures throughout the night.
Comfort Layer – Directly under the cover, you’ll find 3″ of memory foam. This material has a remarkably slow response to stress, allowing the sleeper to really sink in for some gratifying pressure relief. As the foam contours to the curves of your body, you’re likely to feel as though you’re sleeping more”in” the bed compared to”on top” of it, which could be a pleasant feel for side sleepers in need of cushiony support in the shoulders and hips.
Transition Layer – Up next you are going to find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a marginally quicker response to pressure compared to the foams over it. This section is supposed to alleviate the sleeper into the firmer foundation below, helping extend the shaping of the comfort layer even deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we’ve got 6 inches of high-density poly foam. This section gives the mattress its stability and shape, providing a firm foundation upon which the softer foams will react.
After taking a look at the construction of the Nectar, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting some light hand pressure into the mattress and discovered I was immediately interacting with all the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the mattress, with all the gentle foams contouring round my fingers. Pushing in further, I experienced deeper sinkage into the bed.
Since folks of different body types and sizes will feel stability differently, I made a decision to bring in three other testers to check out the Nectar Sleep mattress. We all took a turn lying on the mattress, and gave it a personal rating, and then compiled them on the chart below.
While texture is always likely to be a personal thing, our answers should provide you with a good notion of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
Although there was a little discrepancy with our responses, we did end on an average firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs perfectly with the market standard for moderate firmness.
I personally gave the Nectar a 6 as I found its thick memory foam layers produced a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Regardless of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the material contouring to the curves of my body, leading to some pretty awesome sinkage. While this translated to a softer rating for me, some sleepers may find memory foam to produce a firmer sense as their bodies gradually acclimate into its morphing shape.
Another important part of a new bed’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these pressure points may arise, I put a pressure map above the mattress and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some great pressure relief as the soft memory foam top layers shaped into my body and filled in the space in my thoracic region. While you might find memory foam to have an initially firm feel, once you give your body a couple of minutes to sink through it, you will find that it’s actually rather giving. A trade off for this satisfying pressure relief is that I did find it somewhat difficult to maneuver around and change positions. Memory Foam Mattress Topper Recycle
Edge Support – Testing out the edge support on this bed, I did detect some compression in the soft foam top layers. However, the high-density poly foam base did a good job of supporting my weight in this position, which allowed me to feel secure on the side of the Nectar.
Side – Turning on my side, I continued to feel great pressure relief from this bed. Side sleepers have a tendency to prefer softer mattresses that shape snuggly into the shoulders and hips, and the Nectar more than delivers on this front.
Stomach – Unfortunately, this comfort did not totally carry over when I rolled onto my stomach. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders, which made for some tension along my backbone. In general, stomach sleepers usually opt for firmer mattresses, so I wasn’t overly surprised by this outcome.
Up next, let’s take a look at motion transfer. This test will demonstrate the amount of disturbance detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other, which could be particularly critical for those who share their mattress with a spouse.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is meant to symbolize a different movement you are most likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are incredible motion transfer results! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to dampen movement throughout the structure, ensuring you will not be too bothered by your mattress partner’s tossing and turning in the evening.
When buying a new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the bed or lying”on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body components and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Memory Foam Mattress Topper Recycle
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly thought these results would be a little more extreme! As I moved around the Nectar, I was surprised by just how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it’s sort of surprising to find that the actual measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the marketplace. That said, you’re still more likely to feel like you’re sleeping “in” the Nectar as opposed to “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we have broken down the particular, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let’s widen the scope and have a look at some of its main rivals in the game. While each bed has unique characteristics that make it a distinctive product in the market, it can be useful to contextualize these differences against other mattresses. Plus, who does not love a little cross-referencing before making a big purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Purple and Nectar is like comparing apples and oranges — both are great in their own right, but inherently distinct products.
– One of the very noticeable differences comes in the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a really bouncy material that offers pressure relief without an excessive amount of body contouring.
– This hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, leading to a much cooler sleeping experience than the Nectar.
– And lastly, wherein the Nectar has virtually no bounce, the Purple has an enormous quantity of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
While both the Casper and Nectar are constructed entirely of foam, they really have unbelievably divergent feels, with the latter featuring considerably more sinkage than the former.
– Also, one of the standout attributes of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which brings targeted relief to the hips and shoulders.
– This means the Casper has a more balanced feel than the Nectar, endearing it to a larger selection of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike the majority of other memory foam mattresses that tend to sleep a bit warm, the Nectar offers a high level of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired with the infused cover keeps it cool, while giving maximum comfort.
With the Nectar being a high density foam, some may find it a little warmer than a hybrid, coil, or latex foam mattress.
In general, our study did show that the Nectar is most definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses in the marketplace today.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh out of the box, the mattress is going to have a fairly powerful odor for the first 2 days. After this, the smell starts to fade, and in just a week is totally gone.
So, if the smell is something which actually bothers you, I suggest maybe not sleeping on it for the first couple days.Memory Foam Mattress Topper Recycle
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar mattress can be sat right on a box spring. Or if you want, a platform or any other flat supportive surface. In addition, it can be utilized with almost any adjustable bed frame, that can fit an 11 inch mattress.
You can even put the Nectar right on the ground if that is what you’d prefer to do. Just be certain there is not any water or moisture around.
What Is The Best Way To Care For The Nectar?
The Nectar requires no flipping. But, it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to stop it from wearing down or from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water with mild dish soap, to clean any stains or dirt. Always clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.

Is the Nectar Mattress Appropriate For You?
Since we’ve already taken a closer look at the mattress, I want to give you a few recommendations and some of the most common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I would recommend the Nectar for anyone who wants that classic memory foam feel, deep body shaping and all.
– More importantly, I’d say this mattress could be a real winner for side sleepers, who will gain from its cushiony pressure relief at the shoulders and buttocks.
– Considering its excellent motion transfer and edge support outcomes, I would also say the Nectar could be a solid pick for couples.
– While a great deal of folks will dig the thick layers of memory foam in this bed, I would say that tummy sleepers may find that it sends their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
– Additionally, it has virtually no rebound, which could be a dealbreaker for all those sleepers looking for buoyant support.
