Nectar Sleep offers a memory foam mattress using better quality foam materials relative to its rivals at a far lower price. Do not be tricked into thinking the Nectar mattress is not of similar caliber as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Memory Foam Mattress With Edge Support
Having gel memory foam built into the bottom of the cover and a layer of memory foam beneath, the Nectar shapes well, but doesn’t have the same hug frequently associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam and the lack of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps significantly cooler than most memory foam mattresses.
A support core consisting of high-density polyfoam is made to withstand the test of time. Given its makeup, we project the Nectar to survive at least 7-8 years, making it a lasting option.
The Nectar is difficult to beat at this price, so if you’re looking for an affordable bed built with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Memory Foam Mattress With Edge Support
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has employed a smart strategy of cheeky marketing and concentrated product development to evolve into one of the biggest competitors in the online bed-in-a-box marketplace. Memory Foam Mattress With Edge Support
Considering its popularity, the brand is often compared to Purple and Casper, two giants in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress world. Though all 3 mattresses have substantially distinct feels (which I will dissect in full later in this review), they do benefit from a similar amount of name recognition and notoriety on sites likes ours and Reddit.
It’s worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is less expensive than the Casper or even the Purple, both of which come in at roughly $1,000.

Memory Foam Mattress With Edge Support
Construction Memory Foam Mattress With Edge Support
Let’s begin with the Nectar mattress review. As I mentioned above, this is an all-foam mattress made up of three different layers which stack as much as an 11″ profile. The most notable aspect of the Nectar’s construction is the humungous 4″ of memory foam on top, which results in a considerable amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how all this comes together, let’s dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is made up of of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco friendly material famous for its breathability and softness. Furthermore, there’s an inch of gel memory foam built into the cover, which offers the sleeper with some immediate relaxation. The combo of the Tencel fibers and gel infusion make for an ultra-cool coating which will help regulate temperatures during the night.
Comfort Layer – Directly below the cover, you will encounter 3″ of memory foam. This material has an incredibly slow reaction to pressure, letting the sleeper to really sink in for some gratifying pressure relief. As the foam shapes to the curves of your body, you are likely to feel like you’re sleeping more”in” the mattress compared to”on top” of it, which may be a nice feel for side sleepers needing cushiony support in the shoulders and buttocks.
Transition Layer – Up next you are going to find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a slightly quicker reaction to pressure compared to the foams above it. This section is meant to alleviate the sleeper into the firmer base below, helping extend the contouring of the comfort layer even deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we have got 6 inches of high-density poly foam. This section gives the bed its firmness and shape, providing a firm foundation upon which the softer foams can respond.
After having a look at the construction of the Nectar, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying some light hand pressure into the mattress and found I was immediately interacting with the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the Nectar, with all the gentle foams contouring around my palms. Pushing in further, I experienced deeper sinkage into the mattress.
Since folks of different body types and sizes are going to feel firmness differently, I made a decision to bring in three other testers to check out the Nectar Sleep mattress. We all took turns lying on the bed, and gave it a personal rating, then compiled them on the graph below.
While texture is always going to be a personal thing, our answers should give you with a good notion of the firmness range you can expect from the bed.
Although there was a little discrepancy with our responses, we did end on a mean firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs perfectly with the market standard for medium firmness.
Personally, I gave the Nectar a 6 as I found its thick memory foam layers produced a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Irrespective of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the mattress contouring to the curves of my body, resulting in some pretty intense sinkage. While this translated into a softer rating for me, some sleepers could find memory foam to produce a firmer sense as their bodies slowly acclimate into its morphing contour.
Another important part of a new mattress’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these pressure points might crop up, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can find the results on the chart below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some great pressure relief as the soft memory foam top layers shaped to my body and filled in the space at my lumbar region. While you may find memory foam to have an initially firm feel, once you provide your body a few minutes to sink in, you will find that it’s actually rather giving. A trade off for this gratifying pressure relief is that I did find it somewhat hard to maneuver around and change positions. Memory Foam Mattress With Edge Support
Edge Support – Testing out the edge support of this bed, I did detect some compression in the soft foam top layers. But, the high-density poly foam foundation did a good job of supporting my weight in this position, which allowed me to feel secure on the side of the mattress.
Side – Turning on my side, I continued to feel fantastic pressure relief from this mattress. Side sleepers tend to favor softer mattresses that shape snuggly to the shoulders and buttocks, and the Nectar more than delivers on this front.
Stomach – Regrettably, this comfort did not necessarily carry over when I rolled onto my stomach. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink from alignment with my shoulders, which made for a little tension along my spine. Overall, stomach sleepers usually opt for firmer mattresses, therefore I wasn’t overly surprised by this result.
Up next, let’s take a look at motion transfer. This evaluation will demonstrate the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress to the other, which could be especially important for those who share their mattress with a spouse.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is intended to symbolize a different movement you are most likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are incredible motion transfer outcomes! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to dampen movement throughout the structure, ensuring that you will not be too bothered by your bed partner’s tossing and turning in the evening.
When buying a new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the bed or lying”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of different densities and sizes (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Memory Foam Mattress With Edge Support
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly thought these results would be a little more intense! As I rolled around the Nectar, I was struck by just how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it is sort of surprising to see that the actual measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the marketplace. That said, you are still more likely to feel as though you are sleeping “in” the Nectar as opposed to “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we’ve broken down the specific, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let’s widen the scope and take a look at a few of its main rivals in the game. While each bed has unique features that make it a different product in the market, it can be useful to contextualize these differences against other mattresses. Plus, who doesn’t love a little cross-referencing before making a big purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Nectar and Purple is like comparing oranges and apples — both are lovely in their own right, but fundamentally distinct goods.
– One of the very noticeable distinctions comes from the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a bouncy material that offers pressure relief without too much body contouring.
– This hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, resulting in a much cooler sleeping experience compared to Nectar.
– And finally, where the Nectar has practically no bounce, the Purple has a tremendous quantity of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
Although the Casper and Nectar are constructed completely of foam, they actually have unbelievably divergent feels, with the latter featuring considerably more sinkage than the former.
– Additionally, one of the standout features of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which provides targeted relief to the hips and shoulders.
– This means the Casper has a more balanced texture compared to the Nectar, endearing it to a larger selection of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike most other memory foam mattresses that tend to sleep a little hot, the Nectar offers a high amount of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired together with the infused cover keeps the temperature cool, while giving maximum comfort.
Because the Nectar is a high density foam, some could find it a little warmer than a coil, latex, or hybrid foam mattress.
In general, our study did reveal that the Nectar is definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses in the marketplace nowadays.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh out of the box, the mattress is going to have a fairly strong odor for the first two days. But after, the smell starts to fade, and within a week is totally gone.
So, if the odor is something which really bothers you, then I suggest maybe not sleeping on it for the first two days.Memory Foam Mattress With Edge Support
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar could be sat right on a box spring. Or if you want, a platform or any other flat supportive surface. It can also be used with almost any adjustable bed frame, which can fit an 11 inch mattress.
You can even use the Nectar directly on the floor if that’s what you’d prefer to do. Just be certain there is not any water or moisture around.
What Is The Best Way To Care For The Nectar?
The Nectar requires no flipping. However, it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to stop it from excessive sagging or from wearing down.
For routine cleaning, it is advised to use cool water along mild dish soap, to clean any dirt or stains. Always wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
How Durable Is The Nectar Mattress?
In comparison to other foam mattresses, the Nectar based on our research has a long lifespan.

Is the Nectar Mattress Right For You?
Since we’ve already taken a closer look at the mattress, I want to provide you with a few recommendations and some of the most common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I would suggest the Nectar for anyone who wants that classic memory foam feel, deep body contouring and all.
– More specifically, I would say this mattress might be a real winner for side sleepers, that will gain from its cushiony pressure relief at the shoulders and buttocks.
– Considering its excellent motion transfer and edge support results, I’d also say the Nectar might be a good choice for couples.
– While a lot of people will dig the thick layers of memory foam in this bed, I would say that stomach sleepers may find that it sends their buttocks out of alignment with their shoulders.
– It also has virtually no bounce, which could be a dealbreaker for those sleepers looking for some buoyant support.
