Nectar Sleep offers a memory foam mattress using better quality foam materials relative to its competitors at a much lower cost. Don’t be tricked into believing the Nectar mattress isn’t of the same quality as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Memory Foam Mattress Z
Using gel memory foam quilted into the bottom of the cover and a layer of memory foam under, the Nectar contours well, but does not have the same hug often associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam and the absence of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps significantly cooler than many memory foam mattresses.
A support core composed of high-density polyfoam is built to withstand the test of time. Given its makeup, we expect the Nectar to last at least 7-8 years, which makes it a durable choice.
The Nectar is hard to beat at this price, so if you’re searching for a reasonable bed built with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Memory Foam Mattress Z
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has used a smart strategy of cheeky advertising and focused product development to evolve into one of the greatest players in the online bed-in-a-box marketplace. Memory Foam Mattress Z
Considering its prevalence, the brand is frequently compared to Casper and Purple, two giants in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress world. Though all three mattresses have considerably different feels (which I’ll dissect in detail later on in this review), they do gain from a similar amount of name recognition and notoriety on sites likes ours and Reddit.
It is worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is more affordable than the Casper or the Purple, each of which come in at roughly $1,000.

Construction Memory Foam Mattress Z
Let’s get started with the Nectar mattress review. As I mentioned previously, this is an all-foam mattress made up of three different layers which pile up to an 11″ profile. The most notable aspect of the Nectar’s construction is its humungous 4″ of memory foam on top, which results in a significant amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how this comes together, let us dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is made up of of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco friendly material famous for its softness and breathability. Additionally, there’s an inch of gel memory foam built into the cover, which provides the sleeper with some immediate comfort. The combination of the Tencel fibers and gel infusion make for an ultra-cool coating that’ll help regulate temperatures throughout the night.
Comfort Layer – Directly under the cover, you will encounter 3″ of memory foam. This material has an incredibly slow response to pressure, allowing the sleeper to really sink in for some gratifying pressure relief. As the foam shapes to the curves of your body, you are most likely to feel as though you’re sleeping more”in” the bed than”on top” of it, which may be a pleasant feel for side sleepers in need of cushiony support at the shoulders and buttocks.
Transition Layer – Next you are going to find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a marginally quicker reaction to pressure compared to the foams over it. This section is supposed to alleviate the sleeper into the firmer base below, helping extend the contouring of the comfort layer even deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we have got 6 inches of high-density poly foam. This section gives the mattress its firmness and shape, offering a firm foundation upon which the softer foams will respond.
After having a peek at the construction of the Nectar, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying some light hand pressure to the mattress and discovered that I was immediately interacting with the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the Nectar, with the gentle foams contouring round my palms. Pushing in further, I experienced deeper sinkage into the mattress.
Since people of different body types and sizes are going to feel stability differently, I made a decision to bring in three other testers to have a look at the Nectar Sleep mattress. All of us took turns lying on the bed, and gave it a personal rating, and then compiled them on the graph below.
While texture is always likely to be a personal thing, our responses should provide you with a good idea of the firmness range you can expect from the bed.
Although there was a little discrepancy with our answers, we did end on a mean firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs up perfectly with the market standard for medium firmness.
Personally, I gave the Nectar a 6 because I found its thick memory foam layers produced a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Regardless of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the material contouring to the shape of my body, resulting in some pretty intense sinkage. While this translated to a softer rating for mepersonally, some sleepers could find memory foam to provide a firmer sense as their bodies gradually acclimate into its morphing contour.
Another important component of a new bed’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are likely to shape while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these pressure points may crop up, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the results on the chart below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some fantastic pressure relief as the gentle memory foam top layers shaped into my entire body and filled in the space in my thoracic region. Even though you might find memory foam to have an initially firm texture, as soon as you provide your body a couple of minutes to sink in, you will discover that it’s actually quite giving. A trade off for this satisfying pressure relief is that I did find it a bit difficult to maneuver around and change positions. Memory Foam Mattress Z
Edge Support – Testing out the edge support on this bed, I did detect some compression in the soft foam top layers. But, the high-density poly foam base did a good job of supporting my weight in this position, which allowed me to feel safe on the side of the bed.
Side – Turning onto my side, I continued to feel great pressure relief from this mattress. Side sleepers have a tendency to favor softer mattresses that contour snuggly into the shoulders and hips, and the Nectar more than delivers on this front.
Stomach – Regrettably, this comfort did not necessarily carry over when I rolled onto my belly. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders, which made for some tension along my backbone. In general, stomach sleepers usually opt for firmer mattresses, so I wasn’t too surprised by this outcome.
Next, let’s take a look at motion transfer. This test will demonstrate the amount of disturbance detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other, which could be particularly critical for those of you who share their bed with a partner.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is intended to signify a different movement you are most likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are incredible motion transfer outcomes! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to soften movement across the structure, making sure you won’t be overly bothered by your bed partner’s tossing and turning in the night.
When buying a new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the bed or lying”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the bed and quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Memory Foam Mattress Z
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly believed these results would be a little more extreme! As I rolled around the Nectar, I was surprised by how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it is kind of surprising to see that the real measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the marketplace. That being said, you’re still more likely to feel as though you are sleeping “in” the Nectar instead of “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we have broken down the particular, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let’s expand the scope and take a peek at some of its biggest rivals in the game. While every mattress has unique characteristics which make it a different product in the space, it can be useful to contextualize these distinctions against other beds. Plus, who doesn’t love a tiny cross-referencing prior to making a large purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Nectar and Purple is like comparing apples and oranges — both are great in their own right, but inherently distinct goods.
– Among the most noticeable distinctions comes in the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a bouncy material that offers pressure relief without too much body contouring.
– This hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, resulting in a much cooler sleeping experience than the Nectar.
– And finally, where the Nectar has virtually no bounce, the Purple has an enormous quantity of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
Although the Casper and Nectar are built completely of foam, they really have unbelievably divergent feels, with the latter featuring considerably more sinkage than the former.
– Also, one of the standout features of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which provides targeted relief to the hips and shoulders.
– This also means that the Casper has a more balanced feel than the Nectar, endearing it to a larger selection of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike the majority of other memory foam mattresses that generally sleep a bit warm, the Nectar provides a high level of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired together with the infused cover keeps the temperature cool, while giving maximum comfort.
With the Nectar being a high density foam, some could find it a little warmer than a coil, latex, or hybrid foam mattress.
In general, our study did show that the Nectar is most definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses on the market today.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh from the box, the mattress will have a fairly strong odor for the first two days. But after, the odor starts to fade, and within a week is completely gone.
So, if the smell is something which really bothers you, I suggest not sleeping on it the first couple days.Memory Foam Mattress Z
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar can be sat directly on a box spring. Or if you prefer, a platform or almost any other flat supportive surface. It can also be utilized with any adjustable bed frame, which can fit an 11′ mattress.
You can even put the Nectar right on the ground if that’s what you’d prefer to do. Just make sure there isn’t any water or moisture around.
What’s The Best Way To Take Care Of The Nectar?
The Nectar requires no flipping. However, it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from excessive sagging or from wearing down.
For regular cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water with mild dish soap, to clean any stains or dirt. Always clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
How Durable Is The Nectar Mattress?
In comparison to other foam mattresses, the Nectar according to our research has a very long lifespan.
The Nectar is manufactured with high quality materials and matches all industry standards. According to our study, the Nectar scores an 80 percent owner satisfaction rating and continues to grow in popularity now.

Is the Nectar Mattress Right For You?
Since we’ve already taken a closer look at the mattress, I want to provide you with a few recommendations and some of the very common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I would recommend the Nectar for anyone who wants that classic memory foam feel, deep body contouring and all.
– More specifically, I would say this mattress could be a real winner for side sleepers, who will benefit from its cushiony pressure relief in the shoulders and buttocks.
– Considering its excellent motion transfer and edge support outcomes, I’d also say the Nectar could be a solid pick for couples.
– While a lot of people will dig the thick layers of memory foam in this mattress, I would say that tummy sleepers may find that it sends their buttocks out of alignment with their shoulders.
– It also has almost no bounce, which might be a dealbreaker for those sleepers looking for buoyant support.
