Nectar Sleep offers a memory foam mattress using better quality foam materials relative to its competitors at a much lower price. Do not be fooled into believing the Nectar mattress isn’t of the same quality as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Memory Foam Queen Mattress Set
Using gel memory foam built into the bottom of the cover and also a layer of memory foam under, the Nectar contours well, but does not have the exact same hug often associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam along with the absence of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps significantly cooler than many memory foam models.
A support core composed of high-density polyfoam is built to withstand the test of time. Given its makeup, we project the Nectar to last at least 7-8 years, making it a durable choice.
The Nectar is difficult to beat at this price, so if you’re looking for a reasonable mattress constructed with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Memory Foam Queen Mattress Set
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has used a clever strategy of cheeky marketing and focused product development to evolve into one of the greatest players in the online bed-in-a-box marketplace. Memory Foam Queen Mattress Set
Considering its popularity, the brand is often compared to Purple and Casper, two giants in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress market. Though all three mattresses have substantially different feels (which I’ll dissect in detail later on in this review), they do gain from a similar amount of brand recognition and notoriety on sites likes ours and Reddit.
It is worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is less expensive than either the Casper or the Purple, both of which come in at roughly $1,000.

Construction Memory Foam Queen Mattress Set
Let us get started with the Nectar mattress review. As I mentioned previously, this is an all-foam mattress composed of three distinct layers which pile up to an 11″ profile. The most notable aspect of the Nectar’s construction is the whopping 4″ of memory foam on top, which results in a significant amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how all this comes together, let us dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is made up of of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco-friendly substance known for its softness and breathability. Additionally, there’s an inch of gel memory foam built into the cover, which provides the sleeper with some instant relaxation. The combo of the Tencel fibers and gel infusion make for an ultra-cool coating that’ll help regulate temperatures during the evening.
Comfort Layer – Right under the cover, you’ll find 3″ of memory foam. This material has an incredibly slow reaction to stress, allowing the sleeper to really sink in for some satisfying pressure relief. As the foam contours to the curves of your body, you are most likely to feel like you’re sleeping more”in” the bed compared to”on top” of it, which could be a nice feel for side sleepers needing cushiony support in the shoulders and buttocks.
Transition Layer – Next you’ll find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a slightly quicker response to pressure than the foams above it. This section is supposed to alleviate the sleeper into the firmer base below, helping to extend the contouring of the comfort layer deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we have got 6 inches of high-density poly foam. This section provides the bed its stability and contour, providing a firm foundation upon which the softer foams can respond.
After having a peek at the construction of the Nectar, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying some light hand pressure to the mattress and discovered I was instantly interacting with all the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the mattress, with all the gentle foams contouring around my palms. Pushing in further, I experienced even deeper sinkage into the bed.
Since folks of different body types and sizes are going to feel firmness differently, I made a decision to bring in three other testers to have a look at the Nectar Sleep mattress. We all took turns lying on the mattress, and gave it a personal rating, and then compiled them on the chart below.
While feel is always likely to be a personal thing, our answers should give you with a good notion of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
Although there was a little discrepancy with our responses, we did finish on a mean firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs perfectly with the industry standard for moderate firmness.
Personally, I gave the Nectar a 6 because I found its thick memory foam layers produced a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Regardless of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the material contouring to the curves of my body, leading to some pretty intense sinkage. While this translated to a softer rating for mepersonally, a few sleepers may find memory foam to provide a firmer sense as their bodies gradually acclimate into its morphing contour.
Another important part of a new mattress’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these pressure points may crop up, I placed a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can find the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some great pressure relief as the soft memory foam top layers contoured into my body and filled in the space at my lumbar region. Even though you might find memory foam to have an initially firm texture, as soon as you give your body a couple of minutes to sink through it, you’ll discover that it’s actually rather giving. A trade off for this gratifying pressure relief is that I did find it a bit hard to move around and change positions. Memory Foam Queen Mattress Set
Edge Support – Testing out the edge support on this bed, I did detect some compression through the soft foam top layers. However, the high-density poly foam base did a fantastic job of supporting my weight in this position, which allowed me to feel secure on the side of the mattress.
Side – Turning on my side, I continued to feel great pressure relief from this bed. Side sleepers tend to prefer softer mattresses which shape snuggly to the shoulders and hips, and the Nectar more than delivers on that front.
Stomach – Unfortunately, this comfort didn’t necessarily carry over when I rolled onto my belly. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders, which made for some tension along my backbone. Overall, stomach sleepers usually opt for firmer mattresses, so I was not too surprised by this result.
Up next, let’s take a look at motion transfer. This test will demonstrate the quantity of disturbance detectable from one side of the bed to the other, which could be especially critical for those who share their mattress with a partner.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is meant to signify a different movement you are most likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are amazing motion transfer outcomes! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to soften movement across the structure, making sure you won’t be too bothered by your mattress mate’s tossing and turning in the evening.
When buying a new mattress, the majority of men and women want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the bed or lying”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of different densities and sizes (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Memory Foam Queen Mattress Set
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly believed these results would be a little more intense! As I rolled around the Nectar, I was surprised by how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it is sort of surprising to find that the real measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the market. That being said, you’re still more likely to feel as though you’re sleeping “in” the Nectar as opposed to “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we’ve broken down the particular, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let’s widen the scope and have a peek at some of its main competitors in the game. While every mattress has unique features which make it a different product in the market, it can be useful to contextualize these differences against other mattresses. Plus, who doesn’t love a little cross-referencing before making a big purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Purple and Nectar is like comparing oranges and apples — both are great in their own right, but inherently different goods.
– Among the most noticeable differences comes from the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a really bouncy material that provides pressure relief without too much body contouring.
– This hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, resulting in a far cooler sleeping experience than the Nectar.
– And lastly, where the Nectar has practically no bounce, the Purple has a tremendous quantity of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
Although the Casper and Nectar are constructed completely of foam, they actually have unbelievably divergent feels, with the latter featuring much more sinkage than the former.
– Also, one of the standout attributes of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which brings targeted relief to the hips and shoulders.
– This also means that the Casper has a more balanced feel than the Nectar, endearing it to a larger selection of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike the majority of other memory foam mattresses that tend to sleep a little warm, the Nectar provides a high level of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired together with the infused cover keeps the temperature cool, while giving maximum comfort.
Because the Nectar is a high density foam, some may find it somewhat warmer than a coil, latex, or hybrid foam mattress.
Overall, our study did reveal that the Nectar is most definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses on the market today.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh out of the box, the mattress is going to have a fairly powerful odor for the first 2 days. But after, the odor starts to fade, and within a week is completely gone.
So, if the odor is something which actually bothers you, then I suggest not sleeping on it for the first two days.Memory Foam Queen Mattress Set
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar mattress can be sat right on a box spring. Or if you prefer, a platform or almost any other flat supportive surface. In addition, it can be used with almost any adjustable bed frame, which can fit an 11 inch mattress.
You can even use the Nectar right on the ground if that is what you would like to do. Just be certain there isn’t any moisture or water around.
What’s The Best Way To Take Care Of The Nectar?
The Nectar requires no flipping. However, it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice per year to prevent it from wearing down or from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water along mild dish detergent, to clean any stains or dirt. Always wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
How Durable Is The Nectar Mattress?
In comparison to other foam mattresses, the Nectar based on our studies has a very long lifespan.
The Nectar is manufactured with high quality materials and meets all industry standards. According to our study, the Nectar scores an 80% owner satisfaction rating and continues to grow in popularity now.
What is Nectar’s Warranty?

Is the Nectar Mattress Right For You?
Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the mattress, I want to give you a few recommendations and some of the very common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I’d recommend the Nectar for everyone who desires that classic memory foam feel, deep body contouring and all.
– More importantly, I would say this mattress could be a real winner for side sleepers, that will benefit from its cushiony pressure relief in the shoulders and buttocks.
– Considering its superb motion transfer and edge support results, I would also say the Nectar could be a solid pick for couples.
– While a lot of people will dig the thick layers of memory foam in this bed, I’d say that stomach sleepers may find that it pushes their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
– It also has virtually no rebound, which could be a dealbreaker for all those sleepers looking for some buoyant support.
