Nectar Sleep sells a memory foam mattress with better quality foam materials relative to its competitors at a far lower price. Don’t be fooled into believing the Nectar mattress is not of the same quality as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Memory Foam Zip Link Mattress
Using gel memory foam quilted into the bottom of the cover and a layer of memory foam under, the Nectar shapes well, but does not have the exact same hug often associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam along with the lack of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps considerably cooler than many memory foam models.
A support core consisting of high-density polyfoam is built to withstand the test of time. Given its construct, we expect the Nectar to survive at least 7-8 years, making it a durable choice.
The Nectar is hard to beat at this price, so if you’re looking for an affordable mattress constructed with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Memory Foam Zip Link Mattress
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has employed a clever strategy of cheeky marketing and focused product development to evolve into one of the greatest competitors in the online bed-in-a-box market. Memory Foam Zip Link Mattress
Considering its popularity, the brand is often compared to Purple and Casper, two behemoths in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress market. Though all three mattresses have considerably different feels (which I’ll dissect in full later in this review), they do gain from a similar amount of name recognition and notoriety on sites likes ours and Reddit.
It’s worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is more affordable than the Casper or the Purple, each of which come in at roughly $1,000.

Memory Foam Zip Link Mattress
Construction Memory Foam Zip Link Mattress
Let’s begin with the Nectar bed review. As I mentioned above, this is an all-foam mattress composed of three distinct layers that pile as much as an 11″ profile. The most notable aspect of the Nectar’s construction is the whopping 4″ of memory foam up top, which leads to a considerable amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how all this comes together, let’s dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is made up of of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco-friendly substance known for its breathability and softness. Furthermore, there’s an inch of gel memory foam quilted into the cover, which offers the sleeper with some instant relaxation. The combo of the Tencel fibers and gel infusion make for an ultra-cool layer that’ll help regulate temperatures throughout the night.
Comfort Layer – Right below the cover, you’ll find 3″ of memory foam. This material has a remarkably slow response to stress, allowing the sleeper to really sink in for some satisfying pressure relief. As the foam shapes to the curves of your body, you’re likely to feel like you’re sleeping more”in” the mattress compared to”on top” of it, which could be a pleasant feel for side sleepers in need of cushiony support at the shoulders and hips.
Transition Layer – Next you’ll find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a slightly quicker response to pressure compared to the foams over it. This section is meant to ease the sleeper into the firmer base below, helping to extend the shaping of the comfort layer even deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we have got 6″ of high-density poly foam. This section provides the bed its stability and shape, offering a firm foundation upon which the softer foams will respond.
After having a look at the construction of the Nectar, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting some light hand pressure to the mattress and discovered that I was immediately interacting with the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the gentle foams contouring round my palms. Pushing in further, I experienced even deeper sinkage into the bed.
Since people of different body types and sizes are going to feel firmness differently, I decided to bring in three other testers to check out the Nectar Sleep mattress. All of us took a turn lying on the mattress, and gave it a personal rating, and then compiled them on the chart below.
While texture is always likely to be a personal thing, our responses should give you with a good idea of the firmness range you can expect from the bed.
Though there was a little discrepancy with our answers, we did finish on an average firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs up perfectly with the industry standard for medium firmness.
I personally gave the Nectar a 6 as I found its thick memory foam layers produced a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Regardless of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the material contouring to the curves of my body, leading to some pretty awesome sinkage. While this translated into a softer rating for me, a few sleepers could find memory foam to provide a firmer feel as their bodies slowly acclimate into its morphing shape.
Another important component of a new bed’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these pressure points may arise, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some great pressure relief as the soft memory foam top layers shaped into my entire body and filled in the space in my thoracic region. While you may find memory foam to possess an initially firm texture, once you give your body a few minutes to sink through it, you’ll find that it’s actually rather giving. A trade off for this gratifying pressure relief is that I did find it a bit difficult to maneuver around and change positions. Memory Foam Zip Link Mattress
Edge Support – Testing out the edge support of this mattress, I did discover some compression through the soft foam top layers. However, the high-density poly foam foundation did a fantastic job of supporting my weight in this position, which allowed me to feel safe on the side of the mattress.
Side – Turning on my side, I continued to feel fantastic pressure relief from this mattress. Side sleepers have a tendency to prefer softer mattresses which contour snuggly into the shoulders and buttocks, and the Nectar more than delivers on this front.
Stomach – Regrettably, this comfort did not totally carry over when I rolled onto my belly. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders, which made for some tension along my spine. In general, stomach sleepers usually opt for firmer mattresses, so I was not too surprised by this result.
Next, let’s take a look at motion transfer. This evaluation will demonstrate the quantity of disturbance detectable from one side of the bed to the other, which could be particularly important for those of you who share their mattress with a spouse.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is meant to symbolize a different movement you’re most likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are amazing motion transfer results! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to soften movement throughout the structure, ensuring that you will not be overly bothered by your mattress mate’s tossing and turning in the night.
When purchasing a new bed, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying”on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of different densities and sizes (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the bed and measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body components and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Memory Foam Zip Link Mattress
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly thought these results would be a bit more extreme! As I moved around the Nectar, I was surprised by how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it’s kind of surprising to see that the real measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the marketplace. That said, you’re still more likely to feel like you’re sleeping “in” the Nectar as opposed to “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we have broken down the specific, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let us expand the scope and take a look at a few of its main rivals in the game. While every mattress has unique features which make it a different product in the space, it may be useful to contextualize these distinctions against other mattresses. Plus, who does not love a tiny cross-referencing before making a big purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Nectar and Purple is like comparing oranges and apples — both are great in their own right, but fundamentally different products.
– Among the most noticeable distinctions comes in the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a bouncy material that offers pressure relief without too much body contouring.
– This hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, resulting in a far cooler sleeping experience compared to Nectar.
– And lastly, where the Nectar has practically no bounce, the Purple has a tremendous quantity of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
While both the Casper and Nectar are built entirely of foam, they really have unbelievably divergent feels, with the latter featuring much more sinkage compared to the former.
– Additionally, one of the standout features of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which provides targeted relief to the hips and shoulders.
– This means the Casper has a more balanced texture than the Nectar, endearing it to a larger selection of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike the majority of other memory foam mattresses that tend to sleep a bit hot, the Nectar offers a high level of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired together with the infused cover keeps the temperature cool, while providing maximum comfort.
Because the Nectar is a high density foam, some could find it somewhat warmer than a coil, latex, or hybrid foam mattress.
Overall, our study did show that the Nectar is definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses on the market nowadays.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh out of the box, the mattress will have a fairly powerful odor for the first 2 days. But after, the odor starts to fade, and in just a week is completely gone.
So, if the smell is something that actually bothers you, I suggest not sleeping on it the first couple days.Memory Foam Zip Link Mattress
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar can be sat right on a box spring. Or if you want, a platform or almost any other flat supportive surface. In addition, it can be utilized with any adjustable bed frame, that can fit an 11 inch mattress.
You can even use the Nectar directly on the floor if that’s what you’d prefer to do. Just be certain that there isn’t any water or moisture around.
What Is The Best Way To Care For Your Nectar?
The Nectar requires no flipping. However, it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps one or two times per year to stop it from wearing down or from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is advised to use cool water along mild dish detergent, to clean any dirt or stains. Always wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.

Is the Nectar Mattress Appropriate For You?
Since we’ve already taken a closer look at the bed, I am going to provide you with a few recommendations and some of the most common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I’d recommend the Nectar for everyone who wants that classic memory foam feel, deep body contouring and all.
– More specifically, I would say this mattress could be a real winner for side sleepers, who will benefit from its cushiony pressure relief in the shoulders and hips.
– Considering its superb motion transfer and edge support results, I would also say the Nectar could be a good choice for couples.
– While a great deal of people will enjoy the thick layers of memory foam in this bed, I would say that stomach sleepers may find that it sends their buttocks out of alignment with their shoulders.
– It also has almost no rebound, which might be a dealbreaker for those sleepers looking for some buoyant support.
