Nectar Sleep sells a memory foam mattress using better quality foam materials relative to its rivals at a much lower price. Do not be fooled into thinking the Nectar mattress isn’t of similar quality as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Nectar Bed Bed Bugs
Using gel memory foam quilted into the base of the cover and also a layer of memory foam beneath, the Nectar contours well, but does not have the same hug often associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam along with the lack of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps significantly cooler than many memory foam models.
A support core consisting of high-density polyfoam is made to withstand the test of time. Given its makeup, we expect the Nectar to last at least 7-8 years, making it a lasting choice.
The Nectar is hard to beat at this price, so if you’re looking for an affordable mattress constructed with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Nectar Bed Bed Bugs
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has employed a clever strategy of cheeky marketing and focused product development to evolve into one of the biggest players in the online bed-in-a-box market. Nectar Bed Bed Bugs
Considering its prevalence, the brand is frequently compared to Casper and Purple, two behemoths in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress world. Though all three mattresses have substantially distinct feels (which I’ll dissect in full later on in this review), they do benefit from a similar amount of name recognition and notoriety on sites likes ours and Reddit.
It’s worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is more affordable than either the Casper or the Purple, both of which come in at about $1,000.

Construction Nectar Bed Bed Bugs
Let us begin with the Nectar mattress review. As I mentioned previously, this is an all-foam mattress composed of three distinct layers which stack up to an 11″ profile. The most notable aspect of the Nectar’s construction is the whopping 4″ of memory foam on top, which results in a considerable amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how all this comes together, let us dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is made up of of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco-friendly material famous for its breathability and softness. Additionally, there’s an inch of gel memory foam built into the cover, which offers the sleeper with some instant comfort. The combination of the Tencel fibers and gel infusion make for an ultra-cool coating that’ll help regulate temperatures throughout the night.
Comfort Layer – Directly below the cover, you’ll find 3″ of memory foam. This material has a remarkably slow reaction to stress, letting the sleeper to really sink in for some gratifying pressure relief. As the foam shapes to the curves of your body, you are most likely to feel like you’re sleeping more”in” the bed than”on top” of it, which could be a nice feel for side sleepers needing cushiony support in the shoulders and buttocks.
Transition Layer – Next you’ll find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a marginally quicker reaction to pressure than the foams above it. This section is meant to ease the sleeper into the firmer foundation under, helping extend the shaping of the comfort layer deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we have got 6 inches of high-density poly foam. This section gives the bed its stability and shape, offering a firm foundation upon which the softer foams can react.
After having a peek at the construction of the Nectar, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying some light hand pressure to the mattress and found I was instantly interacting with the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the Nectar, with all the gentle foams contouring around my palms. Pushing in further, I experienced deeper sinkage into the bed.
Since people of different body types and sizes are going to feel firmness differently, I decided to bring in three other testers to have a look at the Nectar Sleep mattress. All of us took a turn lying on the mattress, and gave it a personal evaluation, then compiled them onto the graph below.
While feel is always likely to be a personal thing, our answers should give you with a good notion of the firmness range you may expect from the mattress.
Though there was a little discrepancy with our responses, we did end on an average firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs perfectly with the market standard for moderate firmness.
Personally, I gave the Nectar a 6 as I found its thick memory foam layers produced a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Irrespective of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the material contouring to the curves of my body, resulting in some pretty intense sinkage. While this translated to a softer rating for me, some sleepers could find memory foam to provide a firmer sense as their bodies gradually acclimate to its morphing shape.
Another important component of a new bed’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these pressure points might arise, I placed a pressure map above the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some great pressure relief as the soft memory foam top layers contoured to my entire body and filled in the space at my lumbar region. While you might find memory foam to have an initially firm texture, once you give your body a couple of minutes to sink in, you will find that it’s actually quite giving. A trade off to this satisfying pressure relief is that I did find it somewhat difficult to move around and change positions. Nectar Bed Bed Bugs
Edge Support – Testing the edge support on this bed, I did detect some compression in the soft foam top layers. However, the high-density poly foam base did a fantastic job of supporting my weight in this position, which allowed me to feel secure on the side of the bed.
Side – Turning on my side, I continued to feel great pressure relief from this bed. Side sleepers have a tendency to favor softer mattresses which contour snuggly into the shoulders and buttocks, and the Nectar more than delivers on that front.
Stomach – Regrettably, this comfort did not necessarily carry over when I rolled onto my belly. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink from alignment with my shoulders, which made for some tension along my spine. Overall, stomach sleepers typically opt for firmer mattresses, so I wasn’t too surprised by this outcome.
Next, let us take a look at motion transfer. This evaluation will demonstrate the quantity of disturbance detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other, which could be particularly important for those of you who share their mattress with a spouse.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is meant to symbolize a different movement you’re most likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are amazing motion transfer results! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to dampen movement throughout the structure, ensuring you will not be too bothered by your mattress partner’s tossing and turning in the evening.
When buying a new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of varying densities and sizes (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the bed and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Nectar Bed Bed Bugs
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly thought these results would be a bit more extreme! As I moved around the Nectar, I was surprised by how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it’s sort of surprising to see that the real measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the marketplace. That being said, you’re still more likely to feel as though you’re sleeping “in” the Nectar as opposed to “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we have broken down the particular, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let us expand the scope and take a look at a few of its main rivals in the game. While every bed has unique characteristics which make it a different product in the space, it may be useful to contextualize these differences against other mattresses. Plus, who does not love a little cross-referencing prior to making a big purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Nectar and Purple is like comparing apples and oranges — both are lovely in their own right, but fundamentally different goods.
– One of the most noticeable differences comes from the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a really bouncy material that offers pressure relief without too much body contouring.
– This hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, resulting in a much cooler sleeping experience compared to Nectar.
– And lastly, wherein the Nectar has virtually no bounce, the Purple has an enormous quantity of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
While both the Casper and Nectar are built entirely of foam, they actually have unbelievably divergent feels, with the latter featuring considerably more sinkage compared to the former.
– Also, one of the standout attributes of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which provides targeted relief to the shoulders and hips.
– This also means the Casper has a more balanced texture than the Nectar, endearing it to a wider range of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike the majority of other memory foam mattresses that generally sleep a bit warm, the Nectar provides a high level of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired together with the infused cover keeps it cool, while providing maximum comfort.
Because the Nectar is a high density foam, some could find it somewhat warmer than a coil, latex, or hybrid foam mattress.
Overall, our research did show that the Nectar is definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses in the marketplace today.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh out of the box, the mattress is going to have a fairly powerful odor for the first 2 days. But after, the smell starts to fade, and within a week is completely gone.
So, if the smell is something which really bothers you, then I suggest maybe not sleeping on it the first couple days.Nectar Bed Bed Bugs
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar could be sat directly on a box spring. Or if you prefer, a platform or any other flat supportive surface. In addition, it can be used with any adjustable bed frame, that can fit an 11′ mattress.
You can also use the Nectar directly on the ground if that is what you’d prefer to do. Just make sure there is not any moisture or water around.
What Is The Best Way To Care For The Nectar?
The Nectar needs no flipping. However, it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from excessive sagging or from wearing down.
For regular cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water with mild dish soap, to clean any stains or dirt. Always clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
How Durable Is The Nectar Mattress?
Compared to other foam mattresses, the Nectar based on our research has a long lifespan.
The Nectar is manufactured with premium quality materials and matches industry standards. According to our study, the Nectar scores an 80 percent owner satisfaction rating and continues to increase in popularity today.

Our studies show that consumers rate Nectar’s Forever Warranty excellent.
Is the Nectar Mattress Right For You?
Since we’ve already taken a closer look at the mattress, I am going to provide you with a few recommendations and some of the very common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I would recommend the Nectar for everyone who wants that classic memory foam feel, deep body contouring and all.
– More importantly, I would say this mattress might be a real winner for side sleepers, that will benefit from its cushiony pressure relief in the shoulders and hips.
– Considering its superb motion transfer and edge support results, I’d also say the Nectar might be a solid choice for couples.
– While a lot of people will dig the thick layers of memory foam in this mattress, I’d say that stomach sleepers may find that it sends their buttocks out of alignment with their shoulders.
– It also has virtually no rebound, which might be a dealbreaker for those sleepers looking for some buoyant support.
