Nectar Sleep offers a memory foam mattress using better quality foam materials relative to its competitors at a far lower price. Don’t be tricked into thinking the Nectar mattress is not of the same caliber as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Nectar Bed Dallas
Having gel memory foam quilted into the bottom of the cover and a layer of memory foam beneath, the Nectar contours well, but does not have the same hug often associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam along with the lack of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps significantly cooler than most memory foam mattresses.
A support core composed of high-density polyfoam is built to withstand the test of time. Given its construct, we expect the Nectar to last at least 7-8 years, making it a lasting choice.
The Nectar is difficult to beat at this price, so if you’re looking for an affordable mattress constructed with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Nectar Bed Dallas
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has employed a smart strategy of cheeky marketing and focused product development to evolve into one of the greatest players in the online bed-in-a-box marketplace. Nectar Bed Dallas
Considering its popularity, the brand is often compared to Casper and Purple, two behemoths in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress market. Though all three mattresses have substantially distinct feels (which I will dissect in full later in this review), they do benefit from a similar amount of name recognition and notoriety on websites likes ours and Reddit.
It is worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is far more affordable than either the Casper or even the Purple, both of which come in at about $1,000.

Construction Nectar Bed Dallas
Let us begin with the Nectar mattress review. As I mentioned above, this is an all-foam mattress made up of three distinct layers that stack up to an 11″ profile. The most notable aspect of the Nectar’s construction is the whopping 4″ of memory foam on top, which leads to a significant amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how this comes together, let us dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is comprised of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco-friendly material famous for its breathability and softness. Furthermore, there’s an inch of gel memory foam built into the cover, which provides the sleeper with some immediate comfort. The combination of the Tencel fibers and gel infusion make for an ultra-cool layer that’ll help regulate temperatures throughout the night.
Comfort Layer – Directly below the cover, you will find 3″ of memory foam. This material has a remarkably slow response to stress, allowing the sleeper to really sink in for some gratifying pressure relief. As the foam contours to the curves of your body, you’re likely to feel as though you’re sleeping more”in” the mattress than”on top” of it, which could be a pleasant feel for side sleepers in need of cushiony support in the shoulders and buttocks.
Transition Layer – Next you’ll find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a slightly quicker reaction to pressure compared to the foams over it. This section is supposed to alleviate the sleeper into the firmer base under, helping extend the shaping of the comfort layer deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we have got 6 inches of high-density poly foam. This section gives the bed its firmness and shape, offering a firm foundation upon which the softer foams can react.
After having a look at the construction of the Nectar, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting some light hand pressure to the mattress and found I was instantly interacting with the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the Nectar, with the gentle foams contouring round my palms. Pushing in further, I experienced deeper sinkage into the bed.
Since people of different body types and sizes will feel firmness differently, I made a decision to bring in three other testers to have a look at the Nectar Sleep mattress. All of us took turns lying on the bed, and gave it a personal evaluation, then compiled them onto the chart below.
While texture is always likely to be a personal thing, our answers should give you with a good idea of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
Although there was a little discrepancy with our responses, we did end on a mean firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs perfectly with the market standard for medium firmness.
I personally gave the Nectar a 6 because I found its thick memory foam layers gave a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Regardless of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the mattress contouring to the curves of my body, leading to some pretty awesome sinkage. While this translated into a softer rating for mepersonally, a few sleepers could find memory foam to provide a firmer sense as their bodies slowly acclimate into its morphing contour.
Another important part of a new mattress’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are most likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these pressure points might arise, I put a pressure map above the mattress and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can find the results on the chart below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some great pressure relief as the gentle memory foam top layers shaped to my entire body and filled in the space at my lumbar region. Even though you might find memory foam to have an initially firm texture, once you give your body a couple of minutes to sink through it, you’ll find that it’s actually quite giving. A trade off to this satisfying pressure relief is that I did find it a bit difficult to move around and change positions. Nectar Bed Dallas
Edge Support – Testing out the edge support on this mattress, I did detect some compression through the soft foam top layers. But, the high-density poly foam base did a good job of supporting my weight in this position, which enabled me to feel safe on the side of the bed.
Side – Turning on my side, I continued to feel great pressure relief from this bed. Side sleepers have a tendency to favor softer mattresses that contour snuggly into the shoulders and hips, and the Nectar more than delivers on that front.
Stomach – Unfortunately, this comfort didn’t necessarily carry over when I rolled onto my stomach. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink from alignment with my shoulders, which made for a little tension along my spine. In general, stomach sleepers usually opt for firmer mattresses, therefore I wasn’t too surprised by this result.
Next, let us take a look at motion transfer. This test will demonstrate the amount of disturbance detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other, which might be particularly important for those of you who share their bed with a spouse.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is meant to symbolize a different movement you’re likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are incredible motion transfer results! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to dampen movement throughout the structure, ensuring that you will not be too bothered by your mattress partner’s tossing and turning in the evening.
When buying a new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the bed and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body components and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Nectar Bed Dallas
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly believed these results would be a bit more extreme! As I moved around the Nectar, I was surprised by how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it is sort of surprising to see that the actual measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the marketplace. That being said, you are still more likely to feel like you’re sleeping “in” the Nectar instead of “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we have broken down the specific, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let us widen the scope and take a look at a few of its main rivals in the game. While every mattress has unique characteristics which make it a distinctive product in the market, it may be useful to contextualize these distinctions against other beds. Plus, who doesn’t love a tiny cross-referencing before making a large purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Purple and Nectar is like comparing apples and oranges — both are great in their own right, but fundamentally distinct goods.
– Among the most noticeable distinctions comes in the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a bouncy material that provides pressure relief without an excessive amount of body contouring.
– The hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, leading to a far cooler sleeping experience compared to Nectar.
– And finally, wherein the Nectar has virtually no bounce, the Purple has a tremendous amount of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
While both the Casper and Nectar are constructed completely of foam, they actually have unbelievably divergent feels, with the latter featuring much more sinkage compared to the former.
– Also, one of the standout features of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which brings targeted relief to the shoulders and hips.
– This also means that the Casper has a more balanced feel compared to the Nectar, endearing it to a wider selection of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike the majority of other memory foam mattresses that tend to sleep a bit hot, the Nectar offers a high level of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired with the infused cover keeps the temperature cool, while providing maximum comfort.
Because the Nectar is a high density foam, some could find it somewhat warmer than a coil, latex, or hybrid foam mattress.
In general, our research did show that the Nectar is most definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses on the market today.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh out of the box, the mattress will have a fairly powerful odor for the first 2 days. After this, the smell starts to fade, and within a week is completely gone.
So, if the odor is something which actually bothers you, then I suggest maybe not sleeping on it the first two days.Nectar Bed Dallas
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar mattress can be sat right on a box spring. Or if you prefer, a platform or almost any other flat supportive surface. It can also be utilized with almost any adjustable bed frame, that can fit an 11 inch mattress.
You can even use the Nectar right on the ground if that is what you would like to do. Just be certain there isn’t any moisture or water around.
What’s The Best Way To Take Care Of Your Nectar?
The Nectar requires no flipping. However, it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to stop it from wearing down or from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is advised to use cool water with mild dish soap, to clean any dirt or stains. Always wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
How Durable Is The Nectar Mattress?
Compared to other foam mattresses, the Nectar according to our studies has a very long lifespan.
The Nectar is made with high quality materials and matches all industry standards. According to our research, the Nectar scores an 80 percent owner satisfaction rating and continues to increase in popularity today.

Is the Nectar Mattress Right For You?
Since we’ve already taken a closer look at the bed, I want to give you a few recommendations and some of the most common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I would suggest the Nectar for everyone who wants that classic memory foam feel, deep body shaping and all.
– More importantly, I’d say this mattress might be a real winner for side sleepers, who will benefit from its cushiony pressure relief at the shoulders and hips.
– Considering its superb motion transfer and edge support results, I would also say the Nectar might be a good choice for couples.
– While a lot of folks will dig the thick layers of memory foam in this bed, I’d say that tummy sleepers may find that it pushes their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
– Additionally, it has almost no rebound, which could be a dealbreaker for those sleepers looking for some buoyant support.
