Nectar Sleep sells a memory foam mattress with better quality foam materials relative to its competitors at a much lower price. Don’t be fooled into believing the Nectar mattress isn’t of similar caliber as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Nectar Bed Made In China
Having gel memory foam quilted into the base of the cover and a layer of memory foam under, the Nectar shapes well, but doesn’t have the same hug often associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam along with the absence of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps considerably cooler than most memory foam mattresses.
A support core consisting of high-density polyfoam is built to withstand the test of time. Given its construct, we expect the Nectar to last at least 7-8 years, which makes it a lasting option.
The Nectar is difficult to beat at this price, so if you’re searching for an affordable mattress constructed with quality materials, your search can end here.

Considering its prevalence, the brand is frequently compared to Purple and Casper, two giants in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress market. Though all 3 mattresses have substantially distinct feels (which I’ll dissect in detail later in this review), they do benefit from a similar amount of name recognition and notoriety on websites likes ours and Reddit.
It’s worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is less expensive than the Casper or the Purple, each of which come in at about $1,000.

Construction Nectar Bed Made In China
Let us get started with the Nectar mattress review. As I mentioned previously, this is an all-foam mattress composed of three distinct layers that stack as much as an 11″ profile. The most notable component of the Nectar’s construction is the whopping 4″ of memory foam on top, which results in a considerable amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how this comes together, let’s dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is comprised of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco friendly material known for its breathability and softness. Additionally, there’s an inch of gel memory foam quilted into the cover, which provides the sleeper with some immediate comfort. The combo of the gel infusion and Tencel fibers make for an ultra-cool coating which will help regulate temperatures throughout the night.
Comfort Layer – Right under the cover, you will find 3″ of memory foam. This material has a remarkably slow reaction to pressure, allowing the sleeper to really sink in for some gratifying pressure relief. As the foam shapes to the curves of your body, you’re most likely to feel like you’re sleeping more”in” the mattress compared to”on top” of it, which may be a nice feel for side sleepers in need of cushiony support at the shoulders and hips.
Transition Layer – Up next you’ll find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a marginally quicker response to pressure compared to the foams above it. This section is supposed to ease the sleeper into the firmer foundation below, helping extend the shaping of the comfort layer even deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we have got 6 inches of high-density poly foam. This section gives the mattress its firmness and contour, offering a firm foundation upon which the softer foams can respond.
After taking a look at the construction of the Nectar, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting some light hand pressure into the mattress and discovered that I was instantly interacting with the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the Nectar, with the gentle foams contouring around my palms. Pushing in further, I experienced deeper sinkage into the mattress.
Since people of different body types and sizes are going to feel stability differently, I made a decision to bring in three other testers to have a look at the Nectar Sleep mattress. We all took a turn lying on the mattress, and gave it a personal rating, then compiled them onto the chart below.
While feel is always going to be a personal thing, our responses should give you with a good idea of the firmness range you may expect from the mattress.
Though there was a little discrepancy with our responses, we did finish on a mean firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs perfectly with the industry standard for medium firmness.
Personally, I gave the Nectar a 6 as I found its thick memory foam layers produced a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Regardless of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the material contouring to the shape of my body, leading to some pretty intense sinkage. While this translated to a softer rating for mepersonally, some sleepers could find memory foam to provide a firmer feel as their bodies gradually acclimate into its morphing contour.
Another important component of a new bed’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are most likely to shape while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these pressure points might crop up, I placed a pressure map above the bed and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can find the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some great pressure relief as the soft memory foam top layers contoured into my body and filled in the space in my thoracic region. While you might find memory foam to have an initially firm feel, as soon as you give your body a few minutes to sink through it, you’ll discover that it’s actually rather giving. A trade off for this satisfying pressure relief is that I did find it a bit difficult to maneuver around and change positions. Nectar Bed Made In China
Edge Support – Testing the edge support on this bed, I did detect some compression in the soft foam top layers. However, the high-density poly foam foundation did a fantastic job of supporting my weight in this position, which allowed me to feel secure on the side of the mattress.
Side – Turning onto my side, I continued to feel great pressure relief from this mattress. Side sleepers have a tendency to prefer softer mattresses that shape snuggly to the shoulders and hips, and the Nectar more than delivers on this front.
Stomach – Regrettably, this comfort did not totally carry over when I rolled onto my stomach. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders, which made for some tension along my spine. In general, stomach sleepers typically opt for firmer mattresses, so I was not overly surprised by this result.
Next, let us take a look at motion transfer. This test will demonstrate the quantity of disturbance detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other, which might be particularly important for those of you who share their bed with a spouse.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is meant to symbolize a different movement you are most likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are incredible motion transfer results! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to soften movement throughout the structure, making sure you will not be too bothered by your bed partner’s tossing and turning in the evening.
When buying a new bed, the majority of people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the bed or lying”on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying densities and sizes (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body components and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Nectar Bed Made In China
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly believed these results would be a little more extreme! As I moved around the Nectar, I was surprised by just how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it’s sort of surprising to find that the real measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the marketplace. That said, you are still more likely to feel as though you’re sleeping “in” the Nectar as opposed to “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we’ve broken down the specific, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let us widen the scope and take a look at a few of its main rivals in the game. While every mattress has unique characteristics which make it a different product in the market, it may be useful to contextualize these distinctions against other beds. Plus, who does not love a little cross-referencing before making a large purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Purple and Nectar is like comparing apples and oranges — both are lovely in their own right, but inherently different products.
– Among the most noticeable distinctions comes from the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a bouncy material that offers pressure relief without too much body contouring.
– The hyper-elastic polymer grid additionally makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, leading to a far cooler sleeping experience than the Nectar.
– And lastly, wherein the Nectar has virtually no bounce, the Purple has an enormous quantity of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
While both the Casper and Nectar are constructed completely of foam, they actually have unbelievably divergent feels, with the latter featuring considerably more sinkage than the former.
– Additionally, one of the standout attributes of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which brings targeted relief to the shoulders and hips.
– This also means the Casper has a more balanced feel than the Nectar, endearing it to a wider selection of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike most other memory foam mattresses that generally sleep a little hot, the Nectar offers a high level of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired with the infused cover keeps the temperature cool, while giving maximum comfort.
Because the Nectar is a high density foam, some could find it a little warmer than a coil, latex, or hybrid foam mattress.
Overall, our research did reveal that the Nectar is definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses in the marketplace today.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh out of the box, the mattress is going to have a fairly strong odor for the first two days. But after, the odor starts to fade, and within a week is completely gone.
So, if the smell is something that actually bothers you, I suggest maybe not sleeping on it the first couple days.Nectar Bed Made In China

The Nectar could be sat right on a box spring. Or if you prefer, a platform or any other flat supportive surface. It can also be utilized with almost any adjustable bed frame, that can fit an 11 inch mattress.
You can also use the Nectar right on the floor if that is what you would like to do. Just be certain that there is not any water or moisture around.
What’s The Best Way To Take Care Of Your Nectar?
The Nectar requires no flipping. But, it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly one or two times a year to stop it from wearing down or from excessive sagging.

Is the Nectar Mattress Right For You?
Since we’ve already taken a closer look at the mattress, I am going to provide you with a few recommendations and some of the most common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I’d recommend the Nectar for anyone who desires that classic memory foam texture, deep body contouring and all.
– More specifically, I would say this mattress could be a real winner for side sleepers, who will gain from its cushiony pressure relief at the shoulders and buttocks.
– Considering its superb motion transfer and edge support results, I’d also say the Nectar might be a good choice for couples.
– While a great deal of people will enjoy the thick layers of memory foam in this bed, I’d say that tummy sleepers may find that it sends their buttocks out of alignment with their shoulders.
– Additionally, it has almost no rebound, which could be a dealbreaker for all those sleepers looking for buoyant support.
