Nectar Sleep offers a memory foam mattress using better quality foam materials relative to its rivals at a much lower price. Don’t be fooled into thinking the Nectar mattress isn’t of the same quality as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Nectar Bed Pics
Having gel memory foam quilted into the bottom of the cover and also a layer of memory foam beneath, the Nectar shapes well, but does not have the same hug frequently associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam along with the lack of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps considerably cooler than many memory foam models.
A support core consisting of high-density polyfoam is built to withstand the test of time. Given its construct, we expect the Nectar to survive at least 7-8 years, making it a lasting choice.
The Nectar is difficult to beat at this price, so if you’re looking for a reasonable bed built with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Nectar Bed Pics
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has used a clever strategy of cheeky advertising and concentrated product development to evolve into one of the biggest players in the online bed-in-a-box marketplace. Nectar Bed Pics
Considering its popularity, the brand is often compared to Casper and Purple, two behemoths in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress world. Though all three mattresses have considerably different feels (which I will dissect in full later in this review), they do gain from a similar amount of brand recognition and notoriety on sites likes ours and Reddit.
It is worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is far more affordable than the Casper or even the Purple, each of which come in at roughly $1,000.

Construction Nectar Bed Pics
Let us get started with the Nectar mattress review. As I mentioned above, this is an all-foam mattress composed of three distinct layers which stack up to an 11″ profile. The most notable component of the Nectar’s construction is its humungous 4″ of memory foam up top, which results in a significant amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how all this comes together, let’s dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is comprised of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco friendly substance known for its softness and breathability. Furthermore, there’s an inch of gel memory foam built into the cover, which provides the sleeper with some instant comfort. The combination of the gel infusion and Tencel fibers make for an ultra-cool layer that’ll help regulate temperatures throughout the evening.
Comfort Layer – Directly below the cover, you will encounter 3″ of memory foam. This material has an incredibly slow reaction to pressure, letting the sleeper to really sink in for some satisfying pressure relief. As the foam shapes to the curves of your body, you’re likely to feel like you are sleeping more”in” the mattress than”on top” of it, which may be a nice feel for side sleepers needing cushiony support in the shoulders and hips.
Transition Layer – Up next you’ll find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a marginally quicker response to pressure compared to the foams over it. This section is meant to alleviate the sleeper into the firmer base under, helping to extend the shaping of the comfort layer deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we have got 6″ of high-density poly foam. This section gives the mattress its stability and contour, offering a firm foundation upon which the softer foams will react.
After having a peek at the construction of the Nectar, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying some light hand pressure to the mattress and found I was immediately interacting with all the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the mattress, with all the gentle foams contouring around my fingers. Pushing in further, I experienced even deeper sinkage into the mattress.
Since people of different body types and sizes are going to feel firmness differently, I decided to bring in three other testers to check out the Nectar Sleep mattress. We all took a turn lying on the mattress, and gave it a personal rating, then compiled them onto the chart below.
While feel is always likely to be a personal thing, our answers should provide you with a good idea of the firmness range you can expect from the bed.
Although there was a little discrepancy with our answers, we did end on an average firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs perfectly with the industry standard for medium firmness.
I personally gave the Nectar a 6 because I found its thick memory foam layers gave a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Irrespective of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the mattress contouring to the shape of my body, leading to some pretty intense sinkage. While this translated into a softer rating for mepersonally, a few sleepers could find memory foam to provide a firmer sense as their bodies slowly acclimate to its morphing shape.
Another important component of a new mattress’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these pressure points may crop up, I placed a pressure map above the bed and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can find the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some fantastic pressure relief as the gentle memory foam top layers shaped to my entire body and filled in the space at my lumbar region. Even though you may find memory foam to have an initially firm feel, as soon as you give your body a couple of minutes to sink through it, you’ll discover that it’s actually rather giving. A trade off for this satisfying pressure relief is that I did find it a bit hard to maneuver around and change positions. Nectar Bed Pics
Edge Support – Testing out the edge support on this mattress, I did detect some compression through the soft foam top layers. But, the high-density poly foam foundation did a good job of supporting my weight in this position, which enabled me to feel safe on the side of the mattress.
Side – Turning onto my side, I continued to feel fantastic pressure relief from this bed. Side sleepers have a tendency to prefer softer mattresses that shape snuggly into the shoulders and buttocks, and the Nectar more than delivers on that front.
Stomach – Unfortunately, this comfort did not necessarily carry over when I rolled onto my stomach. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink from alignment with my shoulders, which made for a little tension along my backbone. Overall, stomach sleepers usually opt for firmer mattresses, therefore I was not overly surprised by this outcome.
Up next, let’s take a look at motion transfer. This test will demonstrate the amount of disturbance detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other, which might be particularly critical for those who share their mattress with a partner.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is meant to symbolize a different movement you’re likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are amazing motion transfer outcomes! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to soften movement throughout the structure, making sure that you won’t be too bothered by your mattress partner’s tossing and turning in the night.
When buying a new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of different densities and sizes (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the bed and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Nectar Bed Pics
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly thought these results would be a little more intense! As I rolled around the Nectar, I was surprised by how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it’s kind of surprising to see that the real measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the marketplace. That said, you’re still more likely to feel as though you’re sleeping “in” the Nectar as opposed to “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we have broken down the particular, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let’s expand the scope and have a look at a few of its biggest rivals in the game. While every mattress has unique characteristics which make it a different product in the market, it may be useful to contextualize these distinctions against other mattresses. Plus, who does not love a little cross-referencing prior to making a large purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Nectar and Purple is like comparing oranges and apples — both are lovely in their own right, but fundamentally different goods.
– Among the most noticeable distinctions comes in the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a really bouncy material that offers pressure relief without an excessive amount of body contouring.
– This hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, leading to a much cooler sleeping experience than the Nectar.
– And lastly, where the Nectar has virtually no bounce, the Purple has a tremendous amount of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
While both the Casper and Nectar are built completely of foam, they actually have incredibly divergent feels, with the latter featuring considerably more sinkage compared to the former.
– Also, one of the standout attributes of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which brings targeted relief to the shoulders and hips.
– This means the Casper has a more balanced texture than the Nectar, endearing it to a larger selection of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike the majority of other memory foam mattresses that tend to sleep a little warm, the Nectar offers a high level of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired with the infused cover keeps the temperature cool, while providing maximum comfort.
With the Nectar being a high density foam, some could find it somewhat warmer than a hybrid, coil, or latex foam mattress.
In general, our study did show that the Nectar is definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses on the market today.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh out of the box, the mattress will have a fairly powerful odor for the first two days. But after, the smell starts to fade, and within a week is totally gone.
So, if the odor is something which actually bothers you, then I suggest maybe not sleeping on it for the first two days.Nectar Bed Pics
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar could be sat directly on a box spring. Or if you want, a platform or almost any other flat supportive surface. It can also be utilized with almost any adjustable bed frame, which can fit an 11 inch mattress.
You can also put the Nectar right on the ground if that’s what you would prefer to do. Just make sure that there isn’t any water or moisture around.
What Is The Best Way To Take Care Of Your Nectar?
The Nectar needs no flipping. However, it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice per year to stop it from excessive sagging or from wearing down.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water with mild dish detergent, to clean any dirt or stains. Always clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
How Durable Is The Nectar Mattress?
In comparison to other foam mattresses, the Nectar according to our research has a very long lifespan.
The Nectar is made with premium quality materials and matches all industry standards. According to our research, the Nectar scores an 80% owner satisfaction rating and continues to increase in popularity now.

Is the Nectar Mattress Right For You?
Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the mattress, I want to provide you with a few recommendations and some of the most common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I’d suggest the Nectar for everyone who desires that classic memory foam feel, deep body contouring and all.
– More importantly, I’d say this mattress could be a real winner for side sleepers, who will benefit from its cushiony pressure relief at the shoulders and hips.
– Considering its superb motion transfer and edge support outcomes, I would also say the Nectar could be a good choice for couples.
– While a lot of folks will dig the thick layers of memory foam in this bed, I’d say that stomach sleepers may find that it sends their buttocks out of alignment with their shoulders.
– It also has almost no bounce, which might be a dealbreaker for those sleepers in search of buoyant support.
