Nectar Sleep sells a memory foam mattress using better quality foam materials relative to its competitors at a much lower cost. Do not be fooled into believing the Nectar mattress is not of similar caliber as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Nectar Bed Target
Having gel memory foam quilted into the bottom of the cover and also a layer of memory foam under, the Nectar shapes well, but doesn’t have the same hug frequently associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam along with the lack of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps significantly cooler than most memory foam mattresses.
A support core consisting of high-density polyfoam is built to withstand the test of time. Given its construct, we expect the Nectar to survive at least 7-8 years, making it a lasting choice.
The Nectar is difficult to beat at this price, so if you’re looking for an affordable mattress constructed with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Nectar Bed Target
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has used a clever strategy of cheeky advertising and focused product development to evolve into one of the greatest players in the online bed-in-a-box marketplace. Nectar Bed Target
Considering its popularity, the brand is frequently compared to Casper and Purple, two behemoths in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress market. Though all three mattresses have considerably distinct feels (which I will dissect in full later in this review), they do gain from a similar amount of brand recognition and notoriety on sites likes ours and Reddit.
It’s worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is more affordable than either the Casper or the Purple, both of which come in at roughly $1,000.

Construction Nectar Bed Target
Let’s get started with the Nectar bed review. As I mentioned above, this is an all-foam mattress made up of three distinct layers that pile as much as an 11″ profile. The most notable component of the Nectar’s construction is the whopping 4″ of memory foam up top, which results in a significant amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how this comes together, let’s dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is made up of of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco friendly material known for its breathability and softness. Additionally, there’s an inch of gel memory foam built into the cover, which offers the sleeper with some instant relaxation. The combo of the gel infusion and Tencel fibers make for an ultra-cool layer that’ll help regulate temperatures during the evening.
Comfort Layer – Directly below the cover, you will find 3″ of memory foam. This material has a remarkably slow reaction to stress, allowing the sleeper to really sink in for some gratifying pressure relief. As the foam contours to the curves of your body, you’re likely to feel as though you are sleeping more”in” the bed compared to”on top” of it, which may be a nice feel for side sleepers in need of cushiony support at the shoulders and hips.
Transition Layer – Next you are going to find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a slightly quicker response to pressure compared to the foams above it. This section is supposed to ease the sleeper into the firmer base below, helping extend the contouring of the comfort layer deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we’ve got 6 inches of high-density poly foam. This section gives the mattress its stability and shape, offering a firm foundation upon which the softer foams will react.
After taking a peek at the construction of the Nectar, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying some light hand pressure to the mattress and found I was instantly interacting with all the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the Nectar, with the gentle foams contouring around my palms. Pushing in further, I experienced deeper sinkage into the mattress.
Since people of different body types and sizes will feel stability differently, I decided to bring in three other testers to have a look at the Nectar Sleep mattress. All of us took turns lying on the mattress, and gave it a personal evaluation, and then compiled them onto the graph below.
While feel is always likely to be a personal thing, our answers should give you with a good idea of the firmness range you can expect from the bed.
Although there was a little discrepancy with our responses, we did finish on an average firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs perfectly with the industry standard for medium firmness.
Personally, I gave the Nectar a 6 as I found its thick memory foam layers gave a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Regardless of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the mattress contouring to the shape of my body, leading to some pretty intense sinkage. While this translated to a softer rating for me, some sleepers could find memory foam to provide a firmer sense as their bodies slowly acclimate to its morphing shape.
Another important part of a new bed’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are most likely to shape while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these pressure points might arise, I placed a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can find the results on the chart below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some fantastic pressure relief as the soft memory foam top layers contoured into my body and filled in the space at my lumbar region. While you may find memory foam to have an initially firm texture, once you give your body a few minutes to sink in, you will find that it’s actually quite giving. A trade off to this satisfying pressure relief is that I did find it somewhat hard to maneuver around and change positions. Nectar Bed Target
Edge Support – Testing out the edge support on this bed, I did detect some compression in the soft foam top layers. But, the high-density poly foam foundation did a good job of supporting my weight in this position, which allowed me to feel safe on the side of the mattress.
Side – Turning onto my side, I continued to feel great pressure relief from this mattress. Side sleepers tend to favor softer mattresses that contour snuggly into the shoulders and buttocks, and the Nectar more than delivers on this front.
Stomach – Unfortunately, this comfort did not necessarily carry over when I rolled onto my stomach. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink from alignment with my shoulders, which made for a little tension along my spine. Overall, stomach sleepers usually opt for firmer mattresses, so I was not overly surprised by this result.
Up next, let’s take a look at motion transfer. This evaluation will demonstrate the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the bed to the other, which might be particularly critical for those of you who share their mattress with a spouse.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is meant to signify a different movement you’re most likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are amazing motion transfer results! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to soften movement across the structure, making sure you won’t be overly bothered by your mattress mate’s tossing and turning in the evening.
When buying a new bed, most people wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the bed or lying”on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the bed and quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to mimic different body parts and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Nectar Bed Target
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly believed these results would be a little more extreme! As I rolled around the Nectar, I was struck by how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it is sort of surprising to find that the actual measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the marketplace. That said, you’re still more likely to feel like you’re sleeping “in” the Nectar instead of “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we have broken down the particular, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let us expand the scope and have a look at some of its main competitors in the game. While each bed has unique features which make it a different product in the space, it can be useful to contextualize these differences against other beds. Plus, who does not love a tiny cross-referencing before making a big purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Nectar and Purple is like comparing apples and oranges — both are great in their own right, but fundamentally different products.
– Among the most noticeable differences comes in the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a bouncy material that offers pressure relief without too much body contouring.
– The hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, leading to a much cooler sleeping experience than the Nectar.
– And lastly, wherein the Nectar has practically no bounce, the Purple has a tremendous amount of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
While both the Casper and Nectar are built completely of foam, they actually have incredibly divergent feels, with the latter featuring much more sinkage than the former.
– Additionally, one of the standout features of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which brings targeted relief to the hips and shoulders.
– This means the Casper has a more balanced texture than the Nectar, endearing it to a larger selection of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike most other memory foam mattresses that generally sleep a bit hot, the Nectar provides a high level of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired together with the infused cover keeps it cool, while giving maximum comfort.
Because the Nectar is a high density foam, some may find it a little warmer than a hybrid, coil, or latex foam mattress.
In general, our research did show that the Nectar is definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses in the marketplace today.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh from the box, the mattress will have a fairly strong odor for the first 2 days. But after, the odor starts to fade, and in just a week is completely gone.
So, if the smell is something that actually bothers you, I suggest maybe not sleeping on it the first two days.Nectar Bed Target
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar could be sat directly on a box spring. Or if you prefer, a platform or any other flat supportive surface. In addition, it can be utilized with almost any adjustable bed frame, that can fit an 11 inch mattress.
You can also use the Nectar directly on the ground if that’s what you would prefer to do. Just be certain that there isn’t any water or moisture around.
What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Nectar?
The Nectar needs no flipping. However, it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice per year to prevent it from wearing down or from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water with mild dish detergent, to clean any dirt or stains. Always wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
How Durable Is The Nectar Mattress?
In comparison to other foam mattresses, the Nectar based on our research has a long lifespan.

Is the Nectar Mattress Appropriate For You?
Since we’ve already taken a closer look at the mattress, I am going to give you a few recommendations and some of the most common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I’d suggest the Nectar for anyone who desires that classic memory foam feel, deep body contouring and all.
– More importantly, I’d say this mattress could be a real winner for side sleepers, who will benefit from its cushiony pressure relief at the shoulders and buttocks.
– Considering its superb motion transfer and edge support outcomes, I’d also say the Nectar might be a solid choice for couples.
– While a great deal of people will enjoy the thick layers of memory foam in this bed, I would say that tummy sleepers may find that it pushes their buttocks out of alignment with their shoulders.
– Additionally, it has virtually no bounce, which could be a dealbreaker for those sleepers in search of buoyant support.
