Nectar Sleep sells a memory foam mattress using better quality foam materials relative to its competitors at a far lower price. Do not be tricked into thinking the Nectar mattress isn’t of similar quality as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Nectar Bed Youtube Commercial
Using gel memory foam quilted into the bottom of the cover and also a layer of memory foam beneath, the Nectar contours well, but does not have the same hug frequently associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam and the absence of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps significantly cooler than many memory foam models.
A support core composed of high-density polyfoam is made to withstand the test of time. Given its construct, we project the Nectar to survive at least 7-8 years, making it a durable choice.
The Nectar is hard to beat at this price, so if you’re searching for an affordable mattress constructed with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Nectar Bed Youtube Commercial
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has employed a smart strategy of cheeky marketing and focused product development to evolve into one of the biggest players in the online bed-in-a-box market. Nectar Bed Youtube Commercial
Considering its popularity, the brand is often compared to Casper and Purple, two giants in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress market. Though all three mattresses have considerably different feels (which I’ll dissect in detail later on in this review), they do gain from a similar amount of name recognition and notoriety on sites likes ours and Reddit.
It is worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is far more affordable than the Casper or the Purple, each of which come in at roughly $1,000.

Construction Nectar Bed Youtube Commercial
Let us begin with the Nectar bed review. As I mentioned previously, this is an all-foam mattress made up of three distinct layers which stack as much as an 11″ profile. The most notable aspect of the Nectar’s construction is its whopping 4″ of memory foam on top, which results in a considerable amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how all this comes together, let us dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is comprised of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco friendly substance famous for its softness and breathability. Additionally, there’s an inch of gel memory foam quilted into the cover, which provides the sleeper with some instant relaxation. The combination of the gel infusion and Tencel fibers make for an ultra-cool coating which will help regulate temperatures throughout the evening.
Comfort Layer – Right below the cover, you will encounter 3″ of memory foam. This material has an incredibly slow reaction to stress, letting the sleeper to really sink in for some satisfying pressure relief. As the foam shapes to the curves of your body, you’re likely to feel as though you’re sleeping more”in” the bed than”on top” of it, which could be a nice feel for side sleepers needing cushiony support in the shoulders and buttocks.
Transition Layer – Next you’ll find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a marginally quicker response to pressure compared to the foams above it. This section is supposed to alleviate the sleeper into the firmer foundation below, helping extend the contouring of the comfort layer even deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we have got 6″ of high-density poly foam. This section provides the bed its firmness and shape, offering a firm foundation upon which the softer foams can respond.
After having a peek at the construction of the Nectar, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by putting some light hand pressure into the mattress and discovered I was instantly interacting with all the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the Nectar, with the gentle foams contouring round my fingers. Pushing in further, I experienced deeper sinkage into the mattress.
Since people of different body types and sizes are going to feel firmness differently, I made a decision to bring in three other testers to check out the Nectar Sleep mattress. All of us took a turn lying on the mattress, and gave it a personal rating, and then compiled them onto the graph below.
While texture is always going to be a personal thing, our responses should give you with a good notion of the firmness range you may expect from the bed.
Although there was a little discrepancy with our answers, we did finish on a mean firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs up perfectly with the market standard for moderate firmness.
Personally, I gave the Nectar a 6 because I found its thick memory foam layers produced a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Irrespective of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the mattress contouring to the curves of my body, resulting in some pretty awesome sinkage. While this translated into a softer rating for me, a few sleepers could find memory foam to provide a firmer sense as their bodies slowly acclimate into its morphing contour.
Another important part of a new mattress’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these pressure points might arise, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the results on the chart below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some fantastic pressure relief as the soft memory foam top layers contoured to my body and filled in the space in my thoracic region. Even though you might find memory foam to have an initially firm texture, as soon as you provide your body a couple of minutes to sink through it, you’ll find that it’s actually rather giving. A trade off to this gratifying pressure relief is that I did find it a bit difficult to maneuver around and change positions. Nectar Bed Youtube Commercial
Edge Support – Testing out the edge support of this bed, I did detect some compression through the soft foam top layers. However, the high-density poly foam foundation did a good job of supporting my weight in this position, which enabled me to feel safe on the side of the bed.
Side – Turning on my side, I continued to feel great pressure relief from this mattress. Side sleepers have a tendency to favor softer mattresses that contour snuggly to the shoulders and hips, and the Nectar more than delivers on this front.
Stomach – Regrettably, this comfort didn’t necessarily carry over when I rolled onto my stomach. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders, which made for some tension along my backbone. In general, stomach sleepers usually opt for firmer mattresses, therefore I was not too surprised by this outcome.
Next, let us take a look at motion transfer. This test will demonstrate the amount of disturbance detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other, which might be particularly important for those of you who share their mattress with a partner.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is intended to symbolize a different movement you’re most likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are incredible motion transfer results! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to soften movement across the structure, making sure that you won’t be overly bothered by your bed mate’s tossing and turning in the evening.
When purchasing a new bed, the majority of people want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to simulate different body components and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Nectar Bed Youtube Commercial
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly thought these results would be a little more intense! As I rolled around the Nectar, I was struck by how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it is kind of surprising to see that the actual measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the market. That being said, you’re still more likely to feel as though you’re sleeping “in” the Nectar instead of “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we’ve broken down the particular, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let’s widen the scope and take a peek at some of its biggest rivals in the game. While each mattress has unique features which make it a distinctive product in the market, it can be useful to contextualize these differences against other beds. Plus, who does not love a tiny cross-referencing prior to making a large purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Nectar and Purple is like comparing apples and oranges — both are lovely in their own right, but inherently different goods.
– One of the most noticeable differences comes from the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a really bouncy material that offers pressure relief without too much body contouring.
– This hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, leading to a far cooler sleeping experience compared to Nectar.
– And lastly, where the Nectar has practically no bounce, the Purple has an enormous quantity of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
While both the Casper and Nectar are built entirely of foam, they actually have unbelievably divergent feels, with the latter featuring considerably more sinkage than the former.
– Also, one of the standout attributes of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which brings targeted relief to the hips and shoulders.
– This means that the Casper has a more balanced texture compared to the Nectar, endearing it to a wider range of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike most other memory foam mattresses that generally sleep a bit hot, the Nectar offers a high level of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired together with the infused cover keeps it cool, while providing maximum comfort.
With the Nectar being a high density foam, some could find it somewhat warmer than a hybrid, coil, or latex foam mattress.
Overall, our study did reveal that the Nectar is definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses in the marketplace today.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh out of the box, the mattress will have a fairly powerful odor for the first 2 days. But after, the smell starts to fade, and within a week is completely gone.
So, if the smell is something which actually bothers you, then I suggest not sleeping on it the first couple days.Nectar Bed Youtube Commercial
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar could be sat directly on a box spring. Or if you prefer, a platform or any other flat supportive surface. In addition, it can be used with any adjustable bed frame, which can fit an 11 inch mattress.
You can also use the Nectar right on the ground if that is what you’d like to do. Just be certain that there is not any water or moisture around.
What’s The Best Way To Care For The Nectar?
The Nectar needs no flipping. However, it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to stop it from excessive sagging or from wearing down.
For regular cleaning, it is advised to use cool water with mild dish soap, to clean any stains or dirt. Always wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
How Durable Is The Nectar Mattress?
Compared to other foam mattresses, the Nectar based on our research has a very long lifespan.
The Nectar is made with premium quality materials and meets industry standards. According to our study, the Nectar scores an 80% owner satisfaction rating and continues to increase in popularity today.

Is the Nectar Mattress Right For You?
Since we’ve already taken a closer look at the bed, I am going to provide you with a few recommendations and some of the most common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I’d suggest the Nectar for anyone who wants that classic memory foam texture, deep body shaping and all.
– More importantly, I’d say this mattress might be a real winner for side sleepers, that will benefit from its cushiony pressure relief in the shoulders and hips.
– Considering its excellent motion transfer and edge support results, I’d also say the Nectar could be a solid pick for couples.
– While a great deal of folks will enjoy the thick layers of memory foam in this bed, I would say that stomach sleepers may find that it pushes their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
– It also has almost no rebound, which could be a dealbreaker for those sleepers looking for buoyant support.
