Nectar Sleep sells a memory foam mattress with better quality foam materials relative to its competitors at a far lower cost. Don’t be fooled into believing the Nectar mattress is not of the same caliber as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Nectar Bed Youtube
Using gel memory foam quilted into the base of the cover and a layer of memory foam under, the Nectar contours well, but does not have the same hug frequently associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam and the absence of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps considerably cooler than most memory foam mattresses.
A support core composed of high-density polyfoam is built to withstand the test of time. Given its construct, we project the Nectar to last at least 7-8 years, which makes it a durable option.
The Nectar is hard to beat at this price, so if you’re searching for an affordable bed built with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Nectar Bed Youtube
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has employed a clever strategy of cheeky advertising and concentrated product development to evolve into one of the greatest players in the online bed-in-a-box market. Nectar Bed Youtube
Considering its popularity, the brand is frequently compared to Casper and Purple, two giants in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress world. Though all 3 mattresses have considerably different feels (which I will dissect in full later on in this review), they do benefit from a similar amount of name recognition and notoriety on websites likes ours and Reddit.
It’s worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is far more affordable than either the Casper or the Purple, each of which come in at roughly $1,000.

Construction Nectar Bed Youtube
Let us begin with the Nectar bed review. As I mentioned previously, this is an all-foam mattress made up of three distinct layers that stack up to an 11″ profile. The most notable component of the Nectar’s construction is the whopping 4″ of memory foam up top, which results in a significant amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how this comes together, let’s dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is comprised of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco-friendly material known for its breathability and softness. Additionally, there’s an inch of gel memory foam quilted into the cover, which provides the sleeper with some immediate comfort. The combo of the Tencel fibers and gel infusion make for an ultra-cool coating that’ll help regulate temperatures throughout the night.
Comfort Layer – Right below the cover, you’ll encounter 3″ of memory foam. This material has an incredibly slow response to pressure, letting the sleeper to really sink in for some satisfying pressure relief. As the foam contours to the curves of your body, you are most likely to feel like you’re sleeping more”in” the mattress than”on top” of it, which could be a nice feel for side sleepers in need of cushiony support in the shoulders and buttocks.
Transition Layer – Next you are going to find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a slightly quicker response to pressure than the foams over it. This section is meant to ease the sleeper into the firmer foundation under, helping to extend the contouring of the comfort layer even deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we have got 6″ of high-density poly foam. This section provides the bed its stability and contour, offering a firm foundation upon which the softer foams can respond.
After taking a peek at the construction of the Nectar, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by putting some light hand pressure to the mattress and discovered that I was immediately interacting with the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the mattress, with all the gentle foams contouring round my palms. Pushing in further, I experienced deeper sinkage into the mattress.
Since people of different body types and sizes are going to feel firmness differently, I decided to bring in three other testers to have a look at the Nectar Sleep mattress. All of us took turns lying on the bed, and gave it a personal rating, then compiled them on the chart below.
While feel is always going to be a personal thing, our answers should provide you with a good idea of the firmness range you may expect from the mattress.
Though there was a little discrepancy with our responses, we did end on a mean firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs perfectly with the market standard for medium firmness.
I personally gave the Nectar a 6 because I found its thick memory foam layers gave a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Regardless of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the material contouring to the shape of my body, resulting in some pretty intense sinkage. While this translated into a softer rating for me, a few sleepers may find memory foam to produce a firmer sense as their bodies gradually acclimate into its morphing contour.
Another important component of a new bed’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are most likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these pressure points might crop up, I put a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can see the results on the chart below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some great pressure relief as the gentle memory foam top layers contoured to my body and filled in the space in my thoracic region. While you might find memory foam to have an initially firm feel, as soon as you give your body a few minutes to sink in, you’ll find that it’s actually rather giving. A trade off for this gratifying pressure relief is that I did find it a bit difficult to maneuver around and change positions. Nectar Bed Youtube
Edge Support – Testing the edge support of this bed, I did discover some compression through the soft foam top layers. But, the high-density poly foam foundation did a fantastic job of supporting my weight in this position, which allowed me to feel secure on the side of the bed.
Side – Turning onto my side, I continued to feel great pressure relief from this mattress. Side sleepers tend to prefer softer mattresses that contour snuggly into the shoulders and hips, and the Nectar more than delivers on this front.
Stomach – Unfortunately, this comfort did not totally carry over when I rolled onto my belly. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders, which made for some tension along my backbone. In general, stomach sleepers typically opt for firmer mattresses, so I was not too surprised by this result.
Next, let us take a look at motion transfer. This evaluation will demonstrate the quantity of disturbance detectable from one side of the bed to the other, which might be particularly important for those of you who share their mattress with a partner.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is intended to signify a different movement you’re most likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are amazing motion transfer results! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to soften movement across the structure, making sure that you will not be overly bothered by your bed mate’s tossing and turning in the night.
When buying a new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying”on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of different densities and sizes (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to mimic different body parts and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Nectar Bed Youtube
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly believed these results would be a bit more extreme! As I moved around the Nectar, I was struck by just how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it’s sort of surprising to see that the real measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the marketplace. That said, you are still more likely to feel like you are sleeping “in” the Nectar instead of “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we’ve broken down the specific, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let’s expand the scope and take a peek at a few of its main competitors in the game. While every bed has unique characteristics that make it a distinctive product in the market, it can be useful to contextualize these differences against other beds. Plus, who doesn’t love a little cross-referencing prior to making a big purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Nectar and Purple is like comparing apples and oranges — both are lovely in their own right, but inherently different products.
– Among the most noticeable differences comes in the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a really bouncy material that provides pressure relief without an excessive amount of body contouring.
– The hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, resulting in a much cooler sleeping experience than the Nectar.
– And lastly, wherein the Nectar has virtually no bounce, the Purple has an enormous amount of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
Although the Casper and Nectar are constructed entirely of foam, they actually have incredibly divergent feels, with the latter featuring considerably more sinkage than the former.
– Additionally, one of the standout features of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which provides targeted relief to the hips and shoulders.
– This also means that the Casper has a more balanced texture than the Nectar, endearing it to a wider selection of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike most other memory foam mattresses that tend to sleep a bit warm, the Nectar provides a high level of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired with the infused cover keeps the temperature cool, while giving maximum comfort.
Because the Nectar is a high density foam, some may find it somewhat warmer than a hybrid, coil, or latex foam mattress.
Overall, our research did show that the Nectar is definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses in the marketplace nowadays.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh out of the box, the mattress will have a fairly powerful odor for the first 2 days. But after, the odor starts to fade, and in just a week is totally gone.
So, if the odor is something which really bothers you, I suggest not sleeping on it the first couple days.Nectar Bed Youtube
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar can be sat right on a box spring. Or if you prefer, a platform or almost any other flat supportive surface. It can also be utilized with any adjustable bed frame, that can fit an 11 inch mattress.
You can also put the Nectar directly on the floor if that’s what you’d prefer to do. Just be certain that there isn’t any moisture or water around.
What Is The Best Way To Care For Your Nectar?
The Nectar requires no flipping. But, it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps one or two times per year to prevent it from wearing down or from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is advised to use cool water with mild dish soap, to clean any dirt or stains. Always clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
How Durable Is The Nectar Mattress?
In comparison to other foam mattresses, the Nectar according to our research has a very long lifespan.
The Nectar is manufactured with premium quality materials and matches all industry standards. According to our study, the Nectar scores an 80% owner satisfaction rating and continues to grow in popularity today.

Is the Nectar Mattress Right For You?
Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the bed, I am going to give you a few recommendations and some of the very common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I would recommend the Nectar for everyone who wants that classic memory foam texture, deep body contouring and all.
– More importantly, I’d say this mattress might be a real winner for side sleepers, who will benefit from its cushiony pressure relief in the shoulders and buttocks.
– Considering its excellent motion transfer and edge support results, I’d also say the Nectar might be a solid pick for couples.
– While a lot of folks will dig the thick layers of memory foam in this mattress, I’d say that tummy sleepers may find that it sends their buttocks out of alignment with their shoulders.
– It also has almost no rebound, which might be a dealbreaker for those sleepers looking for some buoyant support.
