Nectar Sleep sells a memory foam mattress using better quality foam materials relative to its competitors at a far lower price. Don’t be fooled into thinking the Nectar mattress isn’t of the same caliber as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Nectar Mattress Eco Friendly
Having gel memory foam built into the bottom of the cover and also a layer of memory foam under, the Nectar shapes well, but does not have the same hug often associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam and the absence of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps considerably cooler than most memory foam models.
A support core consisting of high-density polyfoam is made to withstand the test of time. Given its construct, we project the Nectar to survive at least 7-8 years, which makes it a durable option.
The Nectar is difficult to beat at this price, so if you’re searching for an affordable bed built with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Nectar Mattress Eco Friendly
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has used a clever strategy of cheeky advertising and focused product development to evolve into one of the greatest players in the online bed-in-a-box market. Nectar Mattress Eco Friendly
Considering its prevalence, the brand is often compared to Casper and Purple, two giants in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress world. Though all three mattresses have substantially distinct feels (which I will dissect in detail later in this review), they do gain from a similar amount of name recognition and notoriety on sites likes ours and Reddit.
It’s worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is far less expensive than either the Casper or the Purple, each of which come in at roughly $1,000.

Construction Nectar Mattress Eco Friendly
Let us get started with the Nectar bed review. As I mentioned previously, this is an all-foam mattress composed of three different layers that stack up to an 11″ profile. The most notable aspect of the Nectar’s construction is its whopping 4″ of memory foam up top, which results in a considerable amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how all this comes together, let’s dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is made up of of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco-friendly substance famous for its softness and breathability. Furthermore, there’s an inch of gel memory foam built into the cover, which offers the sleeper with some instant relaxation. The combo of the gel infusion and Tencel fibers make for an ultra-cool layer that’ll help regulate temperatures during the night.
Comfort Layer – Directly under the cover, you will find 3″ of memory foam. This material has an incredibly slow reaction to stress, allowing the sleeper to really sink in for some satisfying pressure relief. As the foam shapes to the curves of your body, you are likely to feel like you’re sleeping more”in” the mattress than”on top” of it, which may be a pleasant feel for side sleepers needing cushiony support at the shoulders and buttocks.
Transition Layer – Next you are going to find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a slightly quicker reaction to pressure compared to the foams above it. This section is meant to alleviate the sleeper into the firmer foundation below, helping extend the shaping of the comfort layer deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we’ve got 6 inches of high-density poly foam. This section provides the bed its firmness and shape, providing a firm foundation upon which the softer foams can respond.
After having a look at the construction of the Nectar, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying some light hand pressure to the mattress and discovered that I was instantly interacting with the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the Nectar, with all the gentle foams contouring round my fingers. Pushing in further, I experienced even deeper sinkage into the bed.
Since people of different body types and sizes are going to feel stability differently, I made a decision to bring in three other testers to check out the Nectar Sleep mattress. All of us took a turn lying on the mattress, and gave it a personal evaluation, and then compiled them onto the graph below.
While feel is always likely to be a personal thing, our responses should give you with a good idea of the firmness range you can expect from the bed.
Although there was a little discrepancy with our answers, we did end on a mean firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs up perfectly with the market standard for medium firmness.
Personally, I gave the Nectar a 6 because I found its thick memory foam layers produced a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Regardless of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the material contouring to the shape of my body, leading to some pretty awesome sinkage. While this translated to a softer rating for me, some sleepers could find memory foam to provide a firmer feel as their bodies gradually acclimate to its morphing contour.
Another important part of a new bed’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are most likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these pressure points may crop up, I placed a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can see the results on the chart below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some fantastic pressure relief as the soft memory foam top layers contoured to my entire body and filled in the space in my thoracic region. While you might find memory foam to possess an initially firm feel, as soon as you give your body a couple of minutes to sink in, you will find that it’s actually rather giving. A trade off to this satisfying pressure relief is that I did find it a bit difficult to maneuver around and change positions. Nectar Mattress Eco Friendly
Edge Support – Testing the edge support of this bed, I did discover some compression in the soft foam top layers. However, the high-density poly foam base did a good job of supporting my weight in this position, which allowed me to feel safe on the side of the bed.
Side – Turning on my side, I continued to feel great pressure relief from this mattress. Side sleepers have a tendency to prefer softer mattresses which shape snuggly into the shoulders and hips, and the Nectar more than delivers on that front.
Stomach – Unfortunately, this comfort didn’t necessarily carry over when I rolled onto my stomach. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink from alignment with my shoulders, which made for a little tension along my spine. Overall, stomach sleepers typically opt for firmer mattresses, therefore I was not overly surprised by this result.
Up next, let’s take a look at motion transfer. This test will demonstrate the quantity of disturbance detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other, which might be especially critical for those of you who share their mattress with a partner.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is meant to signify a different movement you are most likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are amazing motion transfer outcomes! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to dampen movement throughout the structure, making sure you will not be overly bothered by your mattress partner’s tossing and turning in the night.
When buying a new bed, most men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Nectar Mattress Eco Friendly
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly thought these results would be a bit more extreme! As I rolled around the Nectar, I was surprised by just how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it is sort of surprising to see that the actual measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the market. That said, you’re still more likely to feel like you are sleeping “in” the Nectar as opposed to “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we have broken down the particular, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let’s expand the scope and have a peek at some of its main rivals in the game. While every bed has unique features which make it a distinctive product in the market, it may be useful to contextualize these differences against other beds. Plus, who does not love a little cross-referencing before making a big purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Nectar and Purple is like comparing oranges and apples — both are lovely in their own right, but inherently different products.
– Among the most noticeable differences comes from the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a really bouncy material that provides pressure relief without too much body contouring.
– This hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, resulting in a much cooler sleeping experience compared to Nectar.
– And finally, where the Nectar has practically no bounce, the Purple has a tremendous quantity of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
Although the Casper and Nectar are constructed entirely of foam, they really have unbelievably divergent feels, with the latter featuring considerably more sinkage compared to the former.
– Also, one of the standout features of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which provides targeted relief to the shoulders and hips.
– This also means that the Casper has a more balanced feel compared to the Nectar, endearing it to a wider selection of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike most other memory foam mattresses that tend to sleep a little hot, the Nectar provides a high amount of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired with the infused cover keeps it cool, while providing maximum comfort.
Because the Nectar is a high density foam, some could find it a little warmer than a coil, latex, or hybrid foam mattress.
Overall, our research did show that the Nectar is most definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses on the market today.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh out of the box, the mattress will have a fairly powerful odor for the first 2 days. But after, the odor starts to fade, and in just a week is totally gone.
So, if the smell is something which really bothers you, then I suggest not sleeping on it for the first couple days.Nectar Mattress Eco Friendly
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar mattress can be sat directly on a box spring. Or if you prefer, a platform or any other flat supportive surface. It can also be used with almost any adjustable bed frame, that can fit an 11′ mattress.
You can even put the Nectar directly on the ground if that is what you’d like to do. Just be certain that there is not any water or moisture around.
What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Nectar?
The Nectar needs no flipping. However, it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps one or two times a year to stop it from wearing down or from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is advised to use cool water with mild dish detergent, to clean any stains or dirt. Always wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
How Durable Is The Nectar Mattress?
Compared to other foam mattresses, the Nectar based on our research has a long lifespan.
The Nectar is manufactured with premium quality materials and matches industry standards. According to our study, the Nectar scores an 80 percent owner satisfaction rating and continues to grow in popularity today.

Is the Nectar Mattress Appropriate For You?
Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the mattress, I am going to give you a few recommendations and some of the very common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I would suggest the Nectar for anyone who desires that classic memory foam feel, deep body contouring and all.
– More specifically, I’d say this mattress could be a real winner for side sleepers, that will gain from its cushiony pressure relief at the shoulders and hips.
– Considering its superb motion transfer and edge support results, I’d also say the Nectar could be a good pick for couples.
– While a great deal of folks will enjoy the thick layers of memory foam in this mattress, I’d say that stomach sleepers may find that it sends their buttocks out of alignment with their shoulders.
– Additionally, it has virtually no rebound, which might be a dealbreaker for all those sleepers in search of some buoyant support.
