Nectar Sleep sells a memory foam mattress using better quality foam materials relative to its rivals at a much lower cost. Don’t be tricked into thinking the Nectar mattress isn’t of similar quality as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Nectar Mattress Warehouse
Having gel memory foam quilted into the base of the cover and also a layer of memory foam beneath, the Nectar contours well, but doesn’t have the exact same hug often associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam along with the absence of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps significantly cooler than most memory foam mattresses.
A support core consisting of high-density polyfoam is built to withstand the test of time. Given its makeup, we expect the Nectar to survive at least 7-8 years, which makes it a durable option.
The Nectar is hard to beat at this price, so if you’re searching for a reasonable mattress constructed with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Nectar Mattress Warehouse
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has employed a clever strategy of cheeky marketing and concentrated product development to evolve into one of the biggest players in the online bed-in-a-box marketplace. Nectar Mattress Warehouse
Considering its popularity, the brand is often compared to Purple and Casper, two behemoths in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress world. Though all three mattresses have considerably distinct feels (which I will dissect in detail later in this review), they do gain from a similar amount of name recognition and notoriety on websites likes ours and Reddit.
It is worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is more affordable than the Casper or even the Purple, both of which come in at about $1,000.

Construction Nectar Mattress Warehouse
Let us begin with the Nectar mattress review. As I mentioned above, this is an all-foam mattress composed of three distinct layers which stack up to an 11″ profile. The most notable aspect of the Nectar’s construction is its humungous 4″ of memory foam up top, which results in a considerable amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how this comes together, let’s dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is comprised of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco friendly material known for its breathability and softness. Additionally, there’s an inch of gel memory foam quilted into the cover, which provides the sleeper with some instant comfort. The combination of the gel infusion and Tencel fibers make for an ultra-cool layer which will help regulate temperatures during the evening.
Comfort Layer – Directly under the cover, you will find 3″ of memory foam. This material has an incredibly slow reaction to pressure, allowing the sleeper to really sink in for some satisfying pressure relief. As the foam shapes to the curves of your body, you’re likely to feel like you’re sleeping more”in” the bed compared to”on top” of it, which could be a pleasant feel for side sleepers in need of cushiony support in the shoulders and hips.
Transition Layer – Next you are going to find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a slightly quicker response to pressure than the foams above it. This section is meant to alleviate the sleeper into the firmer foundation below, helping extend the contouring of the comfort layer deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we have got 6″ of high-density poly foam. This section gives the mattress its stability and contour, providing a firm foundation upon which the softer foams will respond.
After taking a look at the construction of the Nectar, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting some light hand pressure to the mattress and discovered that I was immediately interacting with all the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the Nectar, with all the gentle foams contouring round my fingers. Pushing in further, I experienced even deeper sinkage into the bed.
Since people of different body types and sizes will feel firmness differently, I decided to bring in three other testers to have a look at the Nectar Sleep mattress. All of us took a turn lying on the mattress, and gave it a personal evaluation, and then compiled them onto the chart below.
While texture is always likely to be a personal thing, our responses should give you with a good notion of the firmness range you can expect from the bed.
Although there was a little discrepancy with our answers, we did finish on a mean firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs up perfectly with the industry standard for medium firmness.
I personally gave the Nectar a 6 as I found its thick memory foam layers gave a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Irrespective of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the material contouring to the curves of my body, resulting in some pretty awesome sinkage. While this translated to a softer rating for mepersonally, a few sleepers may find memory foam to provide a firmer feel as their bodies slowly acclimate into its morphing shape.
Another important component of a new mattress’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are most likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these pressure points may arise, I placed a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can see the results on the chart below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some great pressure relief as the gentle memory foam top layers shaped to my entire body and filled in the space at my lumbar region. While you may find memory foam to have an initially firm texture, as soon as you give your body a couple of minutes to sink through it, you will find that it’s actually rather giving. A trade off to this satisfying pressure relief is that I did find it a bit difficult to maneuver around and change positions. Nectar Mattress Warehouse
Edge Support – Testing the edge support on this mattress, I did detect some compression through the soft foam top layers. But, the high-density poly foam base did a good job of supporting my weight in this position, which enabled me to feel secure on the side of the Nectar.
Side – Turning onto my side, I continued to feel fantastic pressure relief from this mattress. Side sleepers have a tendency to prefer softer mattresses that shape snuggly to the shoulders and buttocks, and the Nectar more than delivers on that front.
Stomach – Unfortunately, this comfort didn’t necessarily carry over when I rolled onto my stomach. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders, which made for a little tension along my spine. In general, stomach sleepers typically opt for firmer mattresses, so I was not too surprised by this result.
Next, let’s take a look at motion transfer. This test will demonstrate the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the bed to the other, which could be particularly critical for those of you who share their mattress with a partner.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is meant to symbolize a different movement you’re likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are amazing motion transfer outcomes! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to soften movement throughout the structure, making sure that you will not be overly bothered by your bed mate’s tossing and turning in the night.
When purchasing a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Nectar Mattress Warehouse
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly thought these results would be a little more intense! As I moved around the Nectar, I was surprised by just how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it’s sort of surprising to see that the real measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the marketplace. That being said, you’re still more likely to feel as though you’re sleeping “in” the Nectar instead of “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we have broken down the particular, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let us widen the scope and have a look at a few of its biggest rivals in the game. While each mattress has unique features which make it a distinctive product in the space, it may be useful to contextualize these differences against other mattresses. Plus, who does not love a tiny cross-referencing prior to making a large purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Nectar and Purple is like comparing oranges and apples — both are lovely in their own right, but fundamentally distinct goods.
– One of the most noticeable distinctions comes from the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a bouncy material that offers pressure relief without an excessive amount of body contouring.
– This hyper-elastic polymer grid additionally makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, resulting in a far cooler sleeping experience compared to Nectar.
– And finally, wherein the Nectar has practically no bounce, the Purple has a tremendous quantity of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
Although the Casper and Nectar are built completely of foam, they really have incredibly divergent feels, with the latter featuring much more sinkage compared to the former.
– Additionally, one of the standout attributes of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which brings targeted relief to the shoulders and hips.
– This means that the Casper has a more balanced feel than the Nectar, endearing it to a wider selection of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike the majority of other memory foam mattresses that tend to sleep a little hot, the Nectar provides a high level of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired with the infused cover keeps the temperature cool, while providing maximum comfort.
With the Nectar being a high density foam, some could find it somewhat warmer than a hybrid, coil, or latex foam mattress.
Overall, our research did reveal that the Nectar is definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses in the marketplace today.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh from the box, the mattress will have a fairly strong odor for the first two days. But after, the smell starts to fade, and within a week is totally gone.
So, if the smell is something which really bothers you, I suggest maybe not sleeping on it the first couple days.Nectar Mattress Warehouse
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar could be sat right on a box spring. Or if you prefer, a platform or any other flat supportive surface. It can also be used with any adjustable bed frame, that can fit an 11′ mattress.
You can even put the Nectar directly on the ground if that is what you’d prefer to do. Just be certain that there isn’t any water or moisture around.
What’s The Best Way To Take Care Of Your Nectar?
The Nectar requires no flipping. However, it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down or from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water with mild dish detergent, to clean any stains or dirt. Always wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.

Is the Nectar Mattress Appropriate For You?
Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the bed, I am going to give you a few recommendations and some of the most common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I’d suggest the Nectar for anyone who wants that classic memory foam feel, deep body contouring and all.
– More importantly, I would say this mattress might be a real winner for side sleepers, that will benefit from its cushiony pressure relief in the shoulders and buttocks.
– Considering its superb motion transfer and edge support results, I’d also say the Nectar might be a good pick for couples.
– While a lot of folks will enjoy the thick layers of memory foam in this bed, I would say that stomach sleepers may find that it pushes their buttocks out of alignment with their shoulders.
– Additionally, it has virtually no bounce, which could be a dealbreaker for those sleepers looking for buoyant support.
