Nectar Sleep offers a memory foam mattress using better quality foam materials relative to its rivals at a much lower price. Don’t be fooled into believing the Nectar mattress is not of similar quality as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. New Memory Foam Mattress Pregnancy
Having gel memory foam built into the base of the cover and a layer of memory foam beneath, the Nectar contours well, but doesn’t have the same hug frequently associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam and the lack of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps considerably cooler than many memory foam models.
A support core composed of high-density polyfoam is made to withstand the test of time. Given its makeup, we project the Nectar to survive at least 7-8 years, which makes it a durable option.
The Nectar is difficult to beat at this price, so if you’re searching for a reasonable mattress constructed with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot New Memory Foam Mattress Pregnancy
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has employed a clever strategy of cheeky marketing and focused product development to evolve into one of the greatest competitors in the online bed-in-a-box market. New Memory Foam Mattress Pregnancy
Considering its prevalence, the brand is frequently compared to Purple and Casper, two giants in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress world. Though all 3 mattresses have substantially different feels (which I will dissect in full later in this review), they do gain from a similar amount of brand recognition and notoriety on websites likes ours and Reddit.
It is worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is far more affordable than either the Casper or even the Purple, each of which come in at about $1,000.

Construction New Memory Foam Mattress Pregnancy
Let us get started with the Nectar bed review. As I mentioned above, this is an all-foam mattress composed of three different layers that stack up to an 11″ profile. The most notable component of the Nectar’s construction is its humungous 4″ of memory foam on top, which results in a significant amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how this comes together, let us dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is comprised of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco-friendly material known for its breathability and softness. Additionally, there’s an inch of gel memory foam built into the cover, which offers the sleeper with some instant relaxation. The combo of the gel infusion and Tencel fibers make for an ultra-cool layer that’ll help regulate temperatures during the evening.
Comfort Layer – Right under the cover, you’ll encounter 3″ of memory foam. This material has a remarkably slow response to pressure, letting the sleeper to really sink in for some gratifying pressure relief. As the foam contours to the curves of your body, you’re most likely to feel like you are sleeping more”in” the mattress than”on top” of it, which could be a nice feel for side sleepers in need of cushiony support in the shoulders and hips.
Transition Layer – Up next you’ll find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a marginally quicker response to pressure compared to the foams over it. This section is meant to ease the sleeper into the firmer foundation below, helping to extend the shaping of the comfort layer deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we’ve got 6″ of high-density poly foam. This section gives the bed its firmness and contour, providing a firm foundation upon which the softer foams will respond.
After taking a peek at the construction of the Nectar, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying some light hand pressure into the mattress and found I was immediately interacting with the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the Nectar, with all the gentle foams contouring round my fingers. Pushing in further, I experienced deeper sinkage into the mattress.
Since people of different body types and sizes will feel stability differently, I decided to bring in three other testers to check out the Nectar Sleep mattress. All of us took turns lying on the mattress, and gave it a personal evaluation, then compiled them on the chart below.
While texture is always likely to be a personal thing, our responses should provide you with a good notion of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
Although there was a little discrepancy with our responses, we did finish on a mean firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs up perfectly with the market standard for moderate firmness.
Personally, I gave the Nectar a 6 because I found its thick memory foam layers gave a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Regardless of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the mattress contouring to the shape of my body, resulting in some pretty awesome sinkage. While this translated into a softer rating for mepersonally, a few sleepers could find memory foam to produce a firmer feel as their bodies gradually acclimate to its morphing shape.
Another important part of a new bed’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these pressure points might arise, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some great pressure relief as the soft memory foam top layers shaped into my body and filled in the space at my lumbar region. Even though you might find memory foam to possess an initially firm texture, once you give your body a couple of minutes to sink through it, you will discover that it’s actually quite giving. A trade off to this gratifying pressure relief is that I did find it somewhat difficult to maneuver around and change positions. New Memory Foam Mattress Pregnancy
Edge Support – Testing the edge support on this bed, I did detect some compression in the soft foam top layers. However, the high-density poly foam base did a fantastic job of supporting my weight in this position, which enabled me to feel secure on the side of the mattress.
Side – Turning on my side, I continued to feel fantastic pressure relief from this bed. Side sleepers tend to favor softer mattresses which shape snuggly to the shoulders and buttocks, and the Nectar more than delivers on this front.
Stomach – Unfortunately, this comfort did not totally carry over when I rolled onto my stomach. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink from alignment with my shoulders, which made for a little tension along my spine. In general, stomach sleepers typically opt for firmer mattresses, so I wasn’t too surprised by this outcome.
Next, let us take a look at motion transfer. This test will demonstrate the amount of disturbance detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other, which could be particularly important for those of you who share their bed with a spouse.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is meant to symbolize a different movement you are most likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are amazing motion transfer outcomes! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to dampen movement throughout the structure, ensuring you won’t be overly bothered by your bed partner’s tossing and turning in the evening.
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. New Memory Foam Mattress Pregnancy
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly believed these results would be a little more intense! As I rolled around the Nectar, I was surprised by how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it is sort of surprising to find that the actual measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the marketplace. That said, you are still more likely to feel like you’re sleeping “in” the Nectar instead of “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we’ve broken down the specific, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let us expand the scope and take a look at some of its biggest competitors in the game. While every bed has unique features that make it a distinctive product in the market, it can be useful to contextualize these differences against other beds. Plus, who doesn’t love a little cross-referencing prior to making a big purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Purple and Nectar is like comparing oranges and apples — both are lovely in their own right, but fundamentally different goods.
– One of the most noticeable distinctions comes in the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a really bouncy material that offers pressure relief without an excessive amount of body contouring.
– This hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, resulting in a far cooler sleeping experience compared to Nectar.
– And lastly, where the Nectar has practically no bounce, the Purple has an enormous quantity of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
Although the Casper and Nectar are built entirely of foam, they really have unbelievably divergent feels, with the latter featuring considerably more sinkage than the former.
– Also, one of the standout attributes of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which brings targeted relief to the hips and shoulders.
– This means that the Casper has a more balanced feel compared to the Nectar, endearing it to a wider range of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike most other memory foam mattresses that generally sleep a bit hot, the Nectar provides a high level of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired with the infused cover keeps it cool, while giving maximum comfort.
Because the Nectar is a high density foam, some could find it a little warmer than a hybrid, coil, or latex foam mattress.
Overall, our study did show that the Nectar is definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses in the marketplace nowadays.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh out of the box, the mattress will have a fairly powerful odor for the first 2 days. After this, the smell starts to fade, and within a week is completely gone.
So, if the smell is something which really bothers you, I suggest maybe not sleeping on it for the first couple days.New Memory Foam Mattress Pregnancy
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar can be sat right on a box spring. Or if you prefer, a platform or almost any other flat supportive surface. In addition, it can be used with almost any adjustable bed frame, which can fit an 11′ mattress.
You can also use the Nectar directly on the ground if that is what you would like to do. Just be certain that there isn’t any moisture or water around.
What’s The Best Way To Take Care Of The Nectar?
The Nectar requires no flipping. However, it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps one or two times per year to prevent it from wearing down or from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water along mild dish soap, to clean any dirt or stains. Always clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
How Durable Is The Nectar Mattress?
Compared to other foam mattresses, the Nectar according to our studies has a very long lifespan.
The Nectar is made with high quality materials and meets industry standards. According to our study, the Nectar scores an 80% owner satisfaction rating and continues to increase in popularity today.

Is the Nectar Mattress Right For You?
Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the bed, I want to give you a few recommendations and some of the most common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I would recommend the Nectar for anyone who desires that classic memory foam feel, deep body shaping and all.
– More importantly, I would say this mattress might be a real winner for side sleepers, that will benefit from its cushiony pressure relief at the shoulders and buttocks.
– Considering its superb motion transfer and edge support results, I’d also say the Nectar might be a good pick for couples.
– While a lot of folks will dig the thick layers of memory foam in this bed, I’d say that tummy sleepers may find that it sends their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
– Additionally, it has virtually no bounce, which could be a dealbreaker for all those sleepers in search of some buoyant support.
