Nectar Sleep offers a memory foam mattress with better quality foam materials relative to its rivals at a much lower price. Don’t be tricked into thinking the Nectar mattress isn’t of similar caliber as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Shop Nectar Mattress
Using gel memory foam built into the bottom of the cover and also a layer of memory foam beneath, the Nectar contours well, but doesn’t have the same hug frequently associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam and the absence of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps significantly cooler than many memory foam models.
A support core consisting of high-density polyfoam is built to withstand the test of time. Given its makeup, we project the Nectar to survive at least 7-8 years, making it a lasting choice.
The Nectar is hard to beat at this price, so if you’re looking for an affordable mattress constructed with quality materials, your search can end here.

Considering its popularity, the brand is often compared to Casper and Purple, two behemoths in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress market. Though all three mattresses have substantially distinct feels (which I will dissect in full later on in this review), they do gain from a similar amount of name recognition and notoriety on websites likes ours and Reddit.
It is worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is far less expensive than the Casper or the Purple, both of which come in at about $1,000.

Construction Shop Nectar Mattress
Let us get started with the Nectar mattress review. As I mentioned previously, this is an all-foam mattress composed of three different layers that pile up to an 11″ profile. The most notable component of the Nectar’s construction is its whopping 4″ of memory foam up top, which results in a significant amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how all this comes together, let us dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is comprised of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco friendly substance famous for its softness and breathability. Furthermore, there’s an inch of gel memory foam quilted into the cover, which offers the sleeper with some instant comfort. The combo of the Tencel fibers and gel infusion make for an ultra-cool layer which will help regulate temperatures throughout the night.
Comfort Layer – Directly below the cover, you’ll find 3″ of memory foam. This material has a remarkably slow response to stress, letting the sleeper to really sink in for some gratifying pressure relief. As the foam contours to the curves of your body, you’re most likely to feel as though you’re sleeping more”in” the bed compared to”on top” of it, which may be a nice feel for side sleepers needing cushiony support at the shoulders and buttocks.
Transition Layer – Next you’ll find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a slightly quicker reaction to pressure compared to the foams over it. This section is meant to ease the sleeper into the firmer foundation under, helping extend the shaping of the comfort layer even deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we’ve got 6 inches of high-density poly foam. This section provides the bed its stability and contour, providing a firm foundation upon which the softer foams can react.
After having a look at the construction of the Nectar, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying some light hand pressure into the mattress and discovered I was immediately interacting with the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the mattress, with all the gentle foams contouring around my fingers. Pushing in further, I experienced deeper sinkage into the mattress.
Since folks of different body types and sizes will feel stability differently, I decided to bring in three other testers to have a look at the Nectar Sleep mattress. All of us took turns lying on the mattress, and gave it a personal evaluation, then compiled them on the graph below.
While texture is always likely to be a personal thing, our answers should give you with a good idea of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
Though there was a little discrepancy with our answers, we did finish on a mean firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs up perfectly with the market standard for moderate firmness.
Personally, I gave the Nectar a 6 because I found its thick memory foam layers gave a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Irrespective of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the mattress contouring to the curves of my body, resulting in some pretty awesome sinkage. While this translated into a softer rating for mepersonally, some sleepers may find memory foam to produce a firmer sense as their bodies gradually acclimate into its morphing contour.
Another important component of a new bed’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are most likely to shape while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these pressure points might crop up, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can find the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some great pressure relief as the soft memory foam top layers contoured into my body and filled in the space at my lumbar region. While you might find memory foam to possess an initially firm texture, once you give your body a few minutes to sink in, you will find that it’s actually quite giving. A trade off to this gratifying pressure relief is that I did find it somewhat difficult to maneuver around and change positions. Shop Nectar Mattress
Edge Support – Testing the edge support on this mattress, I did discover some compression through the soft foam top layers. But, the high-density poly foam foundation did a fantastic job of supporting my weight in this position, which enabled me to feel safe on the side of the Nectar.
Side – Turning onto my side, I continued to feel great pressure relief from this mattress. Side sleepers tend to prefer softer mattresses which shape snuggly into the shoulders and buttocks, and the Nectar more than delivers on that front.
Stomach – Regrettably, this comfort did not necessarily carry over when I rolled onto my stomach. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink from alignment with my shoulders, which made for a little tension along my backbone. In general, stomach sleepers typically opt for firmer mattresses, so I wasn’t overly surprised by this result.
Up next, let’s take a look at motion transfer. This test will demonstrate the quantity of disturbance detectable from one side of the bed to the other, which could be especially critical for those who share their bed with a spouse.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is meant to signify a different movement you are most likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are incredible motion transfer results! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to soften movement throughout the structure, ensuring that you won’t be overly bothered by your bed partner’s tossing and turning in the evening.
When purchasing a new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying”on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to mimic different body parts and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Shop Nectar Mattress
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly thought these results would be a little more intense! As I moved around the Nectar, I was surprised by just how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it’s sort of surprising to see that the actual measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the marketplace. That said, you are still more likely to feel as though you are sleeping “in” the Nectar instead of “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we have broken down the specific, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let’s expand the scope and have a peek at some of its biggest rivals in the game. While each mattress has unique characteristics which make it a different product in the market, it may be useful to contextualize these distinctions against other beds. Plus, who does not love a little cross-referencing prior to making a big purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Purple and Nectar is like comparing oranges and apples — both are lovely in their own right, but fundamentally different products.
– Among the most noticeable distinctions comes from the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a really bouncy material that offers pressure relief without too much body contouring.
– The hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, resulting in a much cooler sleeping experience compared to Nectar.
– And lastly, where the Nectar has virtually no bounce, the Purple has an enormous quantity of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
Although the Casper and Nectar are constructed completely of foam, they really have unbelievably divergent feels, with the latter featuring considerably more sinkage compared to the former.
– Also, one of the standout features of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which provides targeted relief to the hips and shoulders.
– This means that the Casper has a more balanced feel compared to the Nectar, endearing it to a larger range of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike most other memory foam mattresses that tend to sleep a little warm, the Nectar provides a high amount of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired together with the infused cover keeps it cool, while giving maximum comfort.
With the Nectar being a high density foam, some may find it a little warmer than a hybrid, coil, or latex foam mattress.
In general, our study did reveal that the Nectar is most definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses on the market today.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh from the box, the mattress is going to have a fairly strong odor for the first 2 days. After this, the odor starts to fade, and within a week is completely gone.
So, if the odor is something which really bothers you, I suggest not sleeping on it for the first couple days.Shop Nectar Mattress
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar mattress can be sat directly on a box spring. Or if you want, a platform or any other flat supportive surface. In addition, it can be utilized with any adjustable bed frame, that can fit an 11′ mattress.
You can also put the Nectar right on the floor if that is what you’d like to do. Just be certain that there is not any moisture or water around.
What’s The Best Way To Take Care Of Your Nectar?
The Nectar requires no flipping. However, it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps one or two times per year to prevent it from wearing down or from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water with mild dish soap, to clean any dirt or stains. Always clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.

Is the Nectar Mattress Appropriate For You?
Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the bed, I am going to give you a few recommendations and some of the most common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I would suggest the Nectar for anyone who wants that classic memory foam texture, deep body contouring and all.
– More importantly, I’d say this mattress could be a real winner for side sleepers, who will gain from its cushiony pressure relief at the shoulders and hips.
– Considering its excellent motion transfer and edge support outcomes, I would also say the Nectar could be a solid choice for couples.
– While a lot of folks will dig the thick layers of memory foam in this mattress, I’d say that stomach sleepers may find that it sends their buttocks out of alignment with their shoulders.
– Additionally, it has virtually no rebound, which could be a dealbreaker for those sleepers in search of some buoyant support.
