Nectar Sleep offers a memory foam mattress with better quality foam materials relative to its rivals at a far lower cost. Do not be fooled into believing the Nectar mattress isn’t of similar quality as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. The Nectar Bed Commercial
Using gel memory foam quilted into the bottom of the cover and a layer of memory foam under, the Nectar shapes well, but doesn’t have the exact same hug frequently associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam along with the lack of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps significantly cooler than most memory foam mattresses.
A support core composed of high-density polyfoam is made to withstand the test of time. Given its makeup, we expect the Nectar to survive at least 7-8 years, making it a durable choice.
The Nectar is difficult to beat at this price, so if you’re looking for an affordable mattress constructed with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot The Nectar Bed Commercial
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has used a smart strategy of cheeky marketing and concentrated product development to evolve into one of the greatest players in the online bed-in-a-box marketplace. The Nectar Bed Commercial
Considering its prevalence, the brand is often compared to Casper and Purple, two behemoths in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress market. Though all 3 mattresses have substantially different feels (which I will dissect in full later in this review), they do gain from a similar amount of brand recognition and notoriety on sites likes ours and Reddit.
It’s worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is more affordable than either the Casper or even the Purple, each of which come in at about $1,000.

Construction The Nectar Bed Commercial
Let us begin with the Nectar mattress review. As I mentioned above, this is an all-foam mattress made up of three different layers which stack as much as an 11″ profile. The most notable component of the Nectar’s construction is its humungous 4″ of memory foam on top, which results in a significant amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how all this comes together, let us dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is made up of of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco-friendly substance known for its breathability and softness. Furthermore, there’s an inch of gel memory foam quilted into the cover, which provides the sleeper with some instant relaxation. The combo of the gel infusion and Tencel fibers make for an ultra-cool layer which will help regulate temperatures during the night.
Comfort Layer – Right below the cover, you’ll find 3″ of memory foam. This material has an incredibly slow reaction to pressure, letting the sleeper to really sink in for some satisfying pressure relief. As the foam shapes to the curves of your body, you are most likely to feel as though you are sleeping more”in” the bed compared to”on top” of it, which could be a nice feel for side sleepers needing cushiony support at the shoulders and buttocks.
Transition Layer – Up next you are going to find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a marginally quicker response to pressure than the foams above it. This section is meant to alleviate the sleeper into the firmer foundation below, helping extend the contouring of the comfort layer deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we have got 6″ of high-density poly foam. This section provides the mattress its firmness and shape, providing a firm foundation upon which the softer foams will react.
After taking a look at the construction of the Nectar, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by putting some light hand pressure to the mattress and found that I was immediately interacting with all the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the Nectar, with all the gentle foams contouring round my palms. Pushing in further, I experienced even deeper sinkage into the bed.
Since people of different body types and sizes are going to feel stability differently, I decided to bring in three other testers to have a look at the Nectar Sleep mattress. We all took a turn lying on the mattress, and gave it a personal rating, and then compiled them onto the chart below.
While feel is always going to be a personal thing, our responses should give you with a good idea of the firmness range you may expect from the bed.
Although there was a little discrepancy with our responses, we did finish on a mean firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs up perfectly with the industry standard for medium firmness.
Personally, I gave the Nectar a 6 as I found its thick memory foam layers gave a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Regardless of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the mattress contouring to the shape of my body, resulting in some pretty awesome sinkage. While this translated to a softer rating for me, a few sleepers may find memory foam to produce a firmer sense as their bodies gradually acclimate to its morphing contour.
Another important component of a new bed’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these pressure points may arise, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some great pressure relief as the soft memory foam top layers shaped into my body and filled in the space at my lumbar region. While you might find memory foam to possess an initially firm texture, once you give your body a couple of minutes to sink in, you’ll discover that it’s actually rather giving. A trade off for this gratifying pressure relief is that I did find it a bit difficult to move around and change positions. The Nectar Bed Commercial
Edge Support – Testing the edge support of this mattress, I did detect some compression through the soft foam top layers. But, the high-density poly foam base did a good job of supporting my weight in this position, which enabled me to feel safe on the side of the Nectar.
Side – Turning onto my side, I continued to feel fantastic pressure relief from this mattress. Side sleepers have a tendency to favor softer mattresses that contour snuggly into the shoulders and hips, and the Nectar more than delivers on this front.
Stomach – Unfortunately, this comfort did not necessarily carry over when I rolled onto my belly. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders, which made for some tension along my backbone. Overall, stomach sleepers usually opt for firmer mattresses, so I wasn’t too surprised by this result.
Next, let us take a look at motion transfer. This test will demonstrate the quantity of disturbance detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other, which could be particularly critical for those of you who share their bed with a partner.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is meant to signify a different movement you’re most likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are incredible motion transfer outcomes! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to soften movement across the structure, making sure that you will not be too bothered by your mattress partner’s tossing and turning in the night.
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the bed or lying”on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of different densities and sizes (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body components and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. The Nectar Bed Commercial
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly thought these results would be a bit more extreme! As I moved around the Nectar, I was surprised by just how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it’s kind of surprising to find that the real measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the marketplace. That said, you’re still more likely to feel as though you’re sleeping “in” the Nectar instead of “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we’ve broken down the particular, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let’s widen the scope and have a peek at some of its biggest competitors in the game. While each bed has unique characteristics which make it a different product in the space, it may be useful to contextualize these differences against other beds. Plus, who does not love a little cross-referencing prior to making a big purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Purple and Nectar is like comparing apples and oranges — both are lovely in their own right, but inherently distinct products.
– One of the most noticeable differences comes from the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a bouncy material that provides pressure relief without too much body contouring.
– The hyper-elastic polymer grid also makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, resulting in a far cooler sleeping experience than the Nectar.
– And finally, wherein the Nectar has virtually no bounce, the Purple has a tremendous quantity of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
While both the Casper and Nectar are built completely of foam, they really have incredibly divergent feels, with the latter featuring much more sinkage compared to the former.
– Also, one of the standout attributes of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which provides targeted relief to the hips and shoulders.
– This also means the Casper has a more balanced texture than the Nectar, endearing it to a larger range of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike most other memory foam mattresses that generally sleep a little warm, the Nectar offers a high amount of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired together with the infused cover keeps it cool, while giving maximum comfort.
With the Nectar being a high density foam, some could find it a little warmer than a coil, latex, or hybrid foam mattress.
Overall, our study did show that the Nectar is most definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses on the market nowadays.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh out of the box, the mattress will have a fairly powerful odor for the first 2 days. After this, the odor starts to fade, and within a week is completely gone.
So, if the smell is something which really bothers you, I suggest maybe not sleeping on it the first couple days. The Nectar Bed Commercial
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar could be sat right on a box spring. Or if you prefer, a platform or any other flat supportive surface. It can also be utilized with any adjustable bed frame, that can fit an 11 inch mattress.
You can even use the Nectar right on the floor if that’s what you’d like to do. Just be certain there is not any moisture or water around.
What’s The Best Way To Take Care Of The Nectar?
The Nectar requires no flipping. However, it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly one or two times a year to stop it from excessive sagging or from wearing down.
For regular cleaning, it is advised to use cool water with mild dish soap, to clean any dirt or stains. Always wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.

Is the Nectar Mattress Appropriate For You?
Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the bed, I want to give you a few recommendations and some of the most common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I’d recommend the Nectar for anyone who wants that classic memory foam feel, deep body shaping and all.
– More importantly, I’d say this mattress could be a real winner for side sleepers, who will gain from its cushiony pressure relief in the shoulders and buttocks.
– Considering its superb motion transfer and edge support outcomes, I would also say the Nectar might be a solid choice for couples.
– While a lot of people will dig the thick layers of memory foam in this bed, I would say that stomach sleepers may find that it pushes their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
– It also has almost no rebound, which might be a dealbreaker for those sleepers in search of buoyant support.
