Nectar Sleep sells a memory foam mattress with better quality foam materials relative to its rivals at a much lower cost. Do not be tricked into believing the Nectar mattress isn’t of the same quality as the Casper or Leesa — it very much is. Zoned Memory Foam Mattress Topper
Having gel memory foam quilted into the base of the cover and a layer of memory foam beneath, the Nectar contours well, but doesn’t have the same hug often associated with memory foam beds. Both the gel memory foam and the lack of sink-in feel mean the Nectar sleeps significantly cooler than most memory foam mattresses.
A support core consisting of high-density polyfoam is built to withstand the test of time. Given its makeup, we project the Nectar to last at least 7-8 years, making it a lasting choice.
The Nectar is difficult to beat at this price, so if you’re searching for a reasonable bed built with quality materials, your search can end here.

Brand Snapshot Zoned Memory Foam Mattress Topper
Since its founding, Nectar Sleep has employed a clever strategy of cheeky marketing and focused product development to evolve into one of the biggest players in the online bed-in-a-box market. Zoned Memory Foam Mattress Topper
Considering its prevalence, the brand is frequently compared to Casper and Purple, two behemoths in the Direct-to-Consumer mattress market. Though all three mattresses have considerably distinct feels (which I will dissect in full later on in this review), they do benefit from a similar amount of name recognition and notoriety on sites likes ours and Reddit.
It is worth noting that at $699 for a Queen, the Nectar is far less expensive than the Casper or even the Purple, each of which come in at about $1,000.

Construction Zoned Memory Foam Mattress Topper
Let’s get started with the Nectar bed review. As I mentioned above, this is an all-foam mattress made up of three different layers that stack up to an 11″ profile. The most notable component of the Nectar’s construction is its humungous 4″ of memory foam up top, which results in a considerable amount of body contouring and sinkage.
To see how all this comes together, let’s dive into the mattress!
Nectar Mattress Layers
Cover – The cover is comprised of both cotton and Tencel,
an eco-friendly material known for its softness and breathability. Furthermore, there’s an inch of gel memory foam built into the cover, which offers the sleeper with some instant relaxation. The combo of the gel infusion and Tencel fibers make for an ultra-cool coating which will help regulate temperatures throughout the evening.
Comfort Layer – Right below the cover, you’ll encounter 3″ of memory foam. This material has a remarkably slow reaction to stress, allowing the sleeper to really sink in for some gratifying pressure relief. As the foam contours to the curves of your body, you are most likely to feel as though you’re sleeping more”in” the mattress compared to”on top” of it, which could be a pleasant feel for side sleepers in need of cushiony support in the shoulders and hips.
Transition Layer – Next you are going to find a transitional layer of memory foam, which has a slightly quicker response to pressure than the foams over it. This section is meant to ease the sleeper into the firmer foundation below, helping extend the contouring of the comfort layer deeper into the mattress.
Foundation Layer – Rounding out the construction we have got 6 inches of high-density poly foam. This section provides the mattress its firmness and contour, providing a firm foundation upon which the softer foams will respond.
After having a peek at the construction of the Nectar, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting some light hand pressure to the mattress and found that I was instantly interacting with the thick layers of memory foam up top. I could feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the gentle foams contouring around my fingers. Pushing in further, I experienced even deeper sinkage into the mattress.
Since people of different body types and sizes will feel firmness differently, I made a decision to bring in three other testers to have a look at the Nectar Sleep mattress. All of us took turns lying on the mattress, and gave it a personal evaluation, and then compiled them onto the graph below.
While feel is always likely to be a personal thing, our responses should give you with a good idea of the firmness range you may expect from the bed.
Although there was a little discrepancy with our answers, we did end on an average firmness rating of 6.5, which syncs up perfectly with the market standard for medium firmness.
Personally, I gave the Nectar a 6 because I found its thick memory foam layers gave a gentle, pressure-relieving vibe. Irrespective of the position, I stretched out in, I could feel the mattress contouring to the curves of my body, resulting in some pretty awesome sinkage. While this translated to a softer rating for me, some sleepers may find memory foam to produce a firmer sense as their bodies slowly acclimate into its morphing contour.
Another important part of a new mattress’s feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points are likely to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these pressure points may arise, I placed a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can find the results on the chart below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I felt some great pressure relief as the gentle memory foam top layers contoured into my entire body and filled in the space at my lumbar region. Even though you may find memory foam to have an initially firm feel, as soon as you give your body a couple of minutes to sink through it, you will find that it’s actually quite giving. A trade off for this gratifying pressure relief is that I did find it somewhat difficult to maneuver around and change positions. Zoned Memory Foam Mattress Topper
Edge Support – Testing the edge support on this mattress, I did detect some compression through the soft foam top layers. But, the high-density poly foam base did a fantastic job of supporting my weight in this position, which enabled me to feel secure on the side of the bed.
Side – Turning onto my side, I continued to feel great pressure relief from this bed. Side sleepers tend to prefer softer mattresses that shape snuggly into the shoulders and hips, and the Nectar more than delivers on this front.
Stomach – Unfortunately, this comfort did not necessarily carry over when I rolled onto my stomach. The thick layers of memory foam caused my hips to sink from alignment with my shoulders, which made for a little tension along my spine. In general, stomach sleepers usually opt for firmer mattresses, therefore I was not overly surprised by this outcome.
Next, let us take a look at motion transfer. This evaluation will demonstrate the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress to the other, which could be especially important for those who share their bed with a partner.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is meant to signify a different movement you’re most likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are amazing motion transfer results! The thick layers of memory foam up top work to soften movement across the structure, ensuring that you won’t be too bothered by your bed mate’s tossing and turning in the evening.
When purchasing a new bed, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying”on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the bed and quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body components and different sized sleepers.
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1 inch of sinkage. Zoned Memory Foam Mattress Topper
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 3.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 6 inches of sinkage.
I honestly believed these results would be a little more intense! As I moved around the Nectar, I was surprised by just how much my body sank into the memory foam top layers, so it’s kind of surprising to see that the real measurements are consistent with those of other all-foam mattresses on the marketplace. That said, you’re still more likely to feel as though you’re sleeping “in” the Nectar instead of “on top” of it.

The Nectar Mattress vs The Competition
Now that we’ve broken down the specific, nitty-gritty details of the Nectar, let us widen the scope and take a peek at some of its main competitors in the game. While every bed has unique features which make it a distinctive product in the market, it may be useful to contextualize these differences against other mattresses. Plus, who does not love a little cross-referencing before making a big purchase?
Nectar vs Purple
Comparing Purple and Nectar is like comparing oranges and apples — both are lovely in their own right, but fundamentally distinct products.
– One of the most noticeable differences comes from the Purple’s hyper-elastic polymer comfort layer. Unlike memory foam, this is a really bouncy material that provides pressure relief without an excessive amount of body contouring.
– This hyper-elastic polymer grid additionally makes the Purple”temperature neutral”, leading to a far cooler sleeping experience than the Nectar.
– And finally, wherein the Nectar has practically no bounce, the Purple has an enormous amount of buoyant support.
Nectar vs Casper
Although the Casper and Nectar are constructed completely of foam, they actually have unbelievably divergent feels, with the latter featuring much more sinkage than the former.
– Also, one of the standout features of the Casper is its section of Zoned Support, which provides targeted relief to the shoulders and hips.
– This means the Casper has a more balanced feel compared to the Nectar, endearing it to a larger range of sleepers.
Everything Else You Need To Know About Nectar
Does It Sleep Hot?
Unlike the majority of other memory foam mattresses that generally sleep a little warm, the Nectar offers a high level of cooling. The top layer of gel memory foam, paired together with the infused cover keeps the temperature cool, while giving maximum comfort.
Because the Nectar is a high density foam, some may find it somewhat warmer than a coil, latex, or hybrid foam mattress.
In general, our research did reveal that the Nectar is most definitely one of the cooler memory foam mattresses on the market today.
Does It Have Any Smell?
Fresh out of the box, the mattress will have a fairly powerful odor for the first 2 days. But after, the odor starts to fade, and within a week is totally gone.
So, if the odor is something that actually bothers you, I suggest maybe not sleeping on it for the first two days.Zoned Memory Foam Mattress Topper
Does It Require A Foundation?
The Nectar mattress could be sat directly on a box spring. Or if you want, a platform or any other flat supportive surface. It can also be used with any adjustable bed frame, which can fit an 11 inch mattress.
You can even use the Nectar right on the ground if that is what you’d prefer to do. Just make sure there isn’t any water or moisture around.
What’s The Best Way To Take Care Of Your Nectar?
The Nectar needs no flipping. But, it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly one or two times a year to prevent it from wearing down or from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water with mild dish detergent, to clean any dirt or stains. Always clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
How Durable Is The Nectar Mattress?
In comparison to other foam mattresses, the Nectar based on our research has a long lifespan.
The Nectar is made with premium quality materials and matches industry standards. According to our study, the Nectar scores an 80 percent owner satisfaction rating and continues to grow in popularity now.

Is the Nectar Mattress Appropriate For You?
Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the bed, I want to give you a few recommendations and some of the very common Nectar complaints:
– First and foremost, I would suggest the Nectar for everyone who desires that classic memory foam texture, deep body shaping and all.
– More importantly, I’d say this mattress might be a real winner for side sleepers, that will benefit from its cushiony pressure relief at the shoulders and hips.
– Considering its excellent motion transfer and edge support results, I would also say the Nectar might be a solid pick for couples.
– While a great deal of people will enjoy the thick layers of memory foam in this bed, I’d say that tummy sleepers may find that it pushes their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
– Additionally, it has almost no bounce, which could be a dealbreaker for all those sleepers looking for buoyant support.
